48.3:"No more happy endings".
She looks at the woman (Rehana) blankly, "Why are you giving me the information I never asked for?".
She saw her face fell obviously because her little stunt didn't have Yusra running for the hill while screaming.
Once she has done her work she turns to move away when she finds him looking at her as she remembers his rules and her own so she held his hand smiling at him.
It took him longer than expected to take in that the smile is not real however even the fake one made him hypnotised and he wonders if he could survive the real one. Her smiles look beautiful.
He held her hand tighter watching his daughter running inside as she wraps her tiny hands around him giggling. He picks his daughter with one having the advantage of years of work-out looking back at his baby's mother.
His daughter name is Amina and she is six years old.
"You are not my wife so don't spread words that aren't true". He snapped
"I was once". Rehana said shrugging as she enters the lounge, "I thought I should congratulate you and have her meet our daughter".
She knows she is trying to set her off which might have worked if she is interested in this marriage since she isn't, she remains unresponsive as usual.
She leaves the lounge after a while of doing nothing and when she finally manages to have her hand free from his tight grip. She walks around the wide garden looking at the beautiful trees and flowers as she looks at her favourite thing in the sky- the sun.
Its bright-line lightening everything around her killing the darkness in a flick of the moment is her only sort of comfort in this world.
She bumps into something and she finds his daughter on the grass making some drawing. She bends down looking at her and the paper.
"What are you drawing?". She asked confused as she looks at the paper
"I am trying to draw a princess but I don't know which one I like the most". His daughter said sighing
She smiles at how innocent the children worries can be at times, "Is that so?. Why not draw all of them?".
"But that won't be special". His daughter said pouting, "I want to give it to Baba. He can only have one".
"You want to give him a princess?". She asked sitting cross legs in front of her interested in her concepts since adults concepts are simply vague, complicated and manipulative
His daughter nodded, "Baba have no one beside him and I feel he is alone all the time. I want to stay with him but Mama doesn't allow that".
"What else?". She said more interested
His daughter stands coming near her, "Whenever I sleep with him, he always sleeps hugging me tightly and whenever I leave, he looks sad. I want to give him a princess so he can stay with her when I am not there".
She smiles gently at how a child can be the most understanding and naive. She places her hand on her soft cheeks, "You don't have to worry about his loneliness. He must have found a way to deal with it".
His daughter nodded, "He said he looks at the moon almost half the night".
She frowns as his daughter sits in her laps speaking again, "He said the moon comfort him in the night when he is at his lowest".
"So he finds comfort in the moon?". She whispers watching his daughter play with her hair
"You have long hair. You look like a princess. Are you Baba's princess?". His daughter asked making her tongue-tied as she looks in her eyes which held the simplest question but the answer seems far from it
"Of course, I am". She said smiling lightly, "I am a princess but don't tell anyone, ok?".
His daughter giggles, "Ok. That makes Baba a prince, right?".
She nodded watching the excitement on her face as she brushes her unruly hair away, "And that makes you a princess too".
His daughter hugs her excitedly giggling at being the princess she always wanted to be.
"Do you know which princess you are?". His daughter asked going back to drawing her princess
She shakes her head confused, "I have no idea. I didn't watch many princess movies".
His daughter gasped shocked at her statement and she looks guilty of her words.
"You are Rapunzel". She heard his voice as she turns to find him standing near the wall and she briefly wonders how much did he hear
By the look on his face, he heard enough.
She looks at the sun blazing over his black coat and his ash brown hair shimmering under the sharp rays making her gulp. It doesn't help her state that he is one handsome hulk at it.
Does he have to do the gym?.
He walks closer to her watching the way her eyes held passion he found just in the morning. He sits beside his daughter holding her in his hands as they look at her.
"Doesn't she looks like Rapunzel?". He asked as his tone get heavier making her clench the side of her dress
His daughter nodded unaware of their actions, "Yes, she is like her. I am going to draw her for you".
"Why will you do that?". He asked softly and she has never seen him being soft with anyone
"Because you need a princess, Baba". His daughter said as a matter of fact going back to her drawing
"Who is Rapunzel?". She asked watching both of them turn to him shocked
She never imagines there will be a time where she will find herself being cramped on a couch beside him watching a Disney movie filled with nothing but hope, love and care which doesn't exist.
However, she never thought she will ever find him watching the movie religiously while doing the dialogue with his daughter while they turn to her from time to time to make sure she is watching.
She hides her smile away when she feels his hand on her leg making her stiffen under his rough touch. She turns towards him to find him busy watching the movie but his hand didn't move making her inside turn.
By the end of the movie, she finds the tiredness finally catching on her because she didn't sleep for two days and she didn't get any sleep last night. She closes her eyes feeling her head dangling side to side until it was placed to a surface that makes her feel warm.
He watches her falling into sleep just before the prince rescues his princess from the tower. He places her head on his shoulder watching his daughter sleeping with her head in his lap and there is no more escape for him.
He has to cancel his meetings for the day because he wanted to spend time away from work and he must be some kind of sick for doing that because he never does that but he isn't even guilty about it.
She snuggles into him making herself comfortable while he remains to stiffen for a long time until he feels her breathing at the bare skin of his neck making his skin crawl at the sensation that travels through him.
He just denied his needs last night why is he acting this way?.
He heard the familiar sounds that seem to enchant him since the day he started to know about her. As she moves again, the softest sound restored through the empty dark room making his heart feels the softest touch of hers.
He wonders what is the sound as he knows the sound of the bangles and he continues to examine her accessories trying to know which one is it until his eyes went towards her feet where the cloth was lifted and he finds a beautiful gold anklet around her feet.
He heard the loud banging of the door as both his ladies jolted from their sleep while his daughter starts to cry at the sudden sound scared something bad happened, his wife looks at the culprit looking annoyed.
"This woman needs to learn this is not her house". She said gritting her teeth, "Should I just kill her?".
She said looking at Rehana.
He raises his eyebrows shrugging, "Are you asking my permission?".
"No. Your support".
He hides his smile at her reply as he watches Rehana glaring at them. He didn't care how close she is to him or if she acts like a loving couple in front of his ex-wife because even when it's fake, he likes it.
"What is your problem?". He asked stern as he sends his daughter with the maid to his mother
"My problem is that you are being shameless in front of our child". Rehana screeched causing her to groan at the sound
"What is that supposed to mean?". He asked and his wife nudged him
"Don't ask her that". She said to him and he frowns
"Don't you see it?. Are you blind?". Rehana said pointing to his hand and he follows her directions to find his hand on her leg which he didn't realise until now
She looks at Rehana, "Then you shouldn't have brought your daughter to a newly married couple. What did you expect from doing that?".
"You could do this in your room". Rehana said angrily
"This is our room". She said standing as his hand fall while she takes threatening steps towards her, "And you seem to have a wrong idea about your rights in this house. You have no rights to question anything about us or even object. I am not a naive woman who will start being insecure by your little tricks and if you think you are a great trickster then I am not sorry to tell you, you failed".
"You don't know him. You will see how he will move on from you too in some days". Rehana shouted
She places her hand on Rehana shoulder a little tighter than needed, "If he can move on or fall for someone else when I am his wife, he isn't worth it, darling".
She smirks at the way Rehana looks like a lost puppy grumbling as she went out of the room. She shrugged turning around to find him looking at her.
"If you are going to lecture me about the way I spoke to your wife--".
He takes steps towards her pulling her to him, "Ex-wife. She is not my wife".
"Yeah yeah! If you are going to say anything about the way I spoke to her--".
He places a strand of her hair away, "I wouldn't. It was a good show I got to enjoy after a long time".
She gives him a blank look, "I am not here to entertain you and next time keeps that woman out of this house or you can find me a new house, it wouldn't be hard for you".
"You will leave this Haveli to live in a different house?. Do you know how much pride we take in this place?".
"Has pride done anything good to this date?. Or is it something you can carry around without being burdened?"? She asked and he didn't speak, "Why have such an obnoxious thing that does no good".
She must have not seen the way his eyes were looking at her because as much as he observes her, he can't seem to understand what this woman is, truly.
He heard his phone ringing and she moves away from his towards her luggage to unpack her things while he went out to attend his meeting after his daughter and Rehana left.
She heard someone knocking on her door as she goes to open it to find a man similar to his age standing there with a smile, that is not necessary.
"Who are you?". She asked stern not wanting to appear least bit interested
"I am fiancee of your husband's sister. My name is Taimoor". Taimoor said smiling even wider as his eyes start to move the length of her body
She banged her hand on the door making him look at her before he looks at any more parts of her body.
"Why are you here?". She asked narrowing her eyes at him
"I thought we should meet and talk since we are family". Taimoor added
She gives a low chuckle, "We are not family. I have no connection with you that needs to have talks or introductions. Don't ever think about coming near me".
She bangs the door right on his face before he could speak as she continued to place her things in it's place. She never understands how women decide what they will need in the next house and what they have to take with them. It's confusing that she has lived in that place where each and everything of hers is and then she has to pick the necessities.
He walks inside his house to find Taimoor lounging around with his mother and sister. He gives a curt nod looking around when he finds her nowhere. He walks towards his gym starting to do his regular exercise. While he was in the middle of one of his exercise he feels a movement at the corner behind the large machine.
He frowns because no one besides the maid who has specifically placed to clean this place comes in and that too when he is not in the home. He starts to move towards the machine as he peak behind it to find her laying on the ground with a book in front of her while she is busy reading it.
"What are you doing here?". He asked watching her jerk and hit her head on the metal above her head
She groans placing a hand over where it hurts looking at him frowning while he shrugged.
"I know you are not a good person but at least let yourself known in a better way". She said rubbing her hand to ease the pain
He sits in front of her removing her hand while placing his hand gently massaging it.
"Why are you here?".
She pulls a face at his question looking close to whine to him, "Everyone is disturbing me and eating my brain so this is the only place I found where no one will come for me".
He hides his smile nodding, "Ok".
He stands from his place offering her a hand which she takes confused as he pulls her to one of the mats.
"Sit here and read". He instructed
She lays down reading the book again when she spoke, "Is Taimoor going to marry your sister?".
"You have found about that already?". He asked as he lifts the weight and her eyes follow his every movement
"I-It is hard not to when he literally knock at the room door declaring it".
He puts the weight down a little harder making a loud sound as she cringe, he sits up straight looking at her, "He came to our room?".
She nodded, "I banged the door at his face saying to never think about appearing in front of me".
"He shouldn't have come to our room especially when he knows you are alone there".
"Perhaps he came there knowing I am alone there".
His eyes narrow at her reply when the door opens and in walks his sister with her fiancee. She sits properly on the mat while reading the book not interested in the new arrivals.
He stands from his place walking towards her as he stands in front of her covering her away from Taimoor.
"Why are you here?. I think I told everyone that they are not allowed here". He stated
"And your wife is allowed?. How is she an exception?". His sister snapped
"Don't be like that. They just got married of course they want to be together". Taimoor said making her cringe
"You are taking her side now". His sister said angrily looking at her would-be husband
She stands from her place moving to stand beside him, "Exactly! He shouldn't be taking my side but he is doing that in front of you. Don't you find it strange?".
"What are you implying to?". His sister asked confused
She shrugged, "As long as it is not my headache".
"We wanted to invite you to dinner". Taimoor said looking at her, "The food is ready".
"Why will you invite my wife to dinner?. It is her house". He snapped watching Taimoor getting scared by his tone
He holds her hand in her hand, "Leave and we will eat after I am done".
Before they can leave he calls Taimoor glaring at him holding her hand tighter, "If I ever find that you went near my wife again or even look at her, I won't even think before killing you".
His sister starts to shout at her fiancee as she starts to head out of the door when he calls her, "Don't ever speak to me or my wife in that way".
Just as the door closes she moves his hand away going back to her reading and he shakes his head at her action. Not five minutes into the reading she stands abruptly and her face red with anger as she looks ready to kill.
"Who are you going to murder?". He asked curiously
She turns to him looking at him, "I am going to kill this author who thought it was right to make her suffer this much".
He bites his lips, "How are you planning to do that?".
"How about I take a flight there and kill him after torturing him for a while?". She asked
He nodded, "That sounds likes a good idea".
"Thanks. I will be on my way now". She said starting to head towards the door when he holds her hand halting her
"It can't be that bad of an ending?".
"You haven't even read a single sad novel in your life, have you?".
He shakes his head watching her sighs, "They make the worse ending".
"Then why do you read them?".
"Because they make sure I never dream of my happy ending".
****
The way I felt in the last sentence. :(
