~~***~~

He blinks his eyes tired from being stuck in his home study all night not being able to even meet his family. He was selected for online lectures in a foreign country to motivate students to achieve their goals. At first, he wasn't ready to do so because he never thought he was a motivational speaker kind of a person.

However, his wife pushed him on the chair warning him to start the classes or she will have his head. In the past few months, he had realised it's best not to anger her instead do as asked. He had to say the feeling of knowing someone can learn from bits and pieces of your life and that some of your words being their motivation is euphoric.

In this month, he had been busy because there is a big-time difference, when it's night here it's day time there so he had to stay late. With preparing and handling all his other works he often had to neglect his family which never sits well for him.

His wife understands his busyness and never complain much. Though when she's in one of her moods is a different story. But she is always proud of him trying new things.

He walks inside his room stumbling on something almost tripping when he balances himself. He heard a soft groan making him frown as he uses his leg to feel around until he finds her laying down. He sits down moving his hand over her to her face to know if it's her.

And it is his wife.

He shakes her lightly trying to wake her because it isn't good for her to sleep on the floor but she slaps his hand away.

"Utho, begum". He said shaking her again (wake up, wifey)

"Kia hai?". (What is it)

"Why are you laying on the floor?. It's not good for you?".

"Well, my husband is very busy to come to bed so I couldn't sleep there alone, it's not warm enough. I am not laying on the floor I am laying on the prayer mat because it's peaceful".

"Ok. Get up then".

She sighs forwarding her hands and he picks her in his hand groaning lightly placing her on the bed.

"Your husband is a bad person, isn't he?". He asked caressing her cheeks

"Don't badmouth my husband. He is the best".

He laughs, "Oh, is he?".

"Yes, very amazing".

"I love you, baby".

"I love you, Zo-zo".

He smiles closing his eyes wrapping his arms around her waist and the moment her body touches his they release a sigh in contentment. They have learned that they were indeed two body, one soul because whenever they are together they feel complete.

Through the past five years, they have lived together. They had lived by the rule of 'no drama' and that was entirely his wife rule which he complied with because with that rule they avoid any unnecessary drama that could happen.

They also started doing small things for each other just to hear other person laughs keeping their adventurous days still alive as their ritual now. They started doing everything of what they were deprived off. He would often order flowers for her and at times he delivers her lunch at the office because she always forgets it in her work.

He feels someone shaking him and he got worried for a moment that's it's his wife however when he heard sniffing and small hand on his hand he knows who it is. Rubbing his eyes rapidly wanting to reach over but he slowly turns over.

"Ji, Akbar kia howa, meri Jaan?". He asked hoarsely as he was sleepy (yes, Akbar what's wrong, my life)

Akbar sniffed, "I-I am sorry for--".

"Beta, kia howa hai?. Sorry na bola karo. Batao kia howa hai mai sahi kar duin ga". (Son, what is wrong?. Don't apologise. Tell me what's wrong and I will help to make it right)

"W-Woh maine--". Akbar stuttered as his body shook in fear, "I had a nightmare. I am scared". (T-That I-)

Akbar broke into tear making his heart clench knowing that if he reaches to him he might run off to hide somewhere.

"Beta, aao idher". He said unwrapping his arms around his wife creating space between them (son, come here)

"A-Are you angry at me?". Akbar asked tears brimming in his eyes

"Bilkul bhi nahi. Chalo a jao yaha". (Not at all. Come here now)

"I am sorry".

"No! If my child is in pain I want him to come to me because if I get to know that he hid his pain to not give me discomfort will forever leave pain in my heart".

"Your child?. I am?". Akbar asked innocently laying between them looking at him admiring

He nodded covering both of them properly leaving no duvet on himself as he wraps his hands around them. He kissed Akbar forehead, "You are my child. You will always remain my  first child".

Akbar turns towards him hiding his face in his chest weeping. He patted his back until he was asleep but each cry of his leave an unbearable pain for him.

"How can people be a monster for children?. I can't even imagine what fun they have to look fear and pain in such innocent eyes". He heard his wife crying as she held onto Akbar

He had no answer.

He had been working to know what exactly these sick minds think but he had no idea. There is no explanation besides that these people (they are not even human) are a psychopath.

"I don't know, baby, I don't know. If I had eyes I would have went on a hunt for these people. When law and justice start to fail in a country is when this monster is made. If we were to hang just one of these monster the impact of it will cause so many other lives to be saved".

"I wish he starts living his life now. Do you know how beautiful he is?. He has these beautiful round eyes, sharp nose like you, chestnut hair and such soft features. He is so beautiful and so b-broken".

"He needs time. What he went through is not easy".

She hummed holding Akbar tightly to himself humming a lullaby to his sleeping form.

The next morning he was the first one to be awake- no wonders there. His wife loves sleeping these days and he thinks it's best because she needs rest. He silently leaves to prepare for the day and asks the housekeeper to prepare their favourite breakfast. Since it's weekend they would eat outside in the garden.

After getting ready in his casual clothes he walks outside starting to prepare everything. She opens her eyes after blinking them rapidly feeling a weight over her chest. She looks down to find Akbar sleeping soundly. She moves her hand through his hair kissing his forehead.

"You are an amazing child".

She went to prepare herself watching as her husband was missing. She had a habit of watching his face first thing and she had told him to not leave bed before she was awake but he never listens. Also, she found in a few months that having waking up to her child is a blissful experience. She loves how her child would hold onto her for comfort and thinks of her as his guardian.

She walks back inside after refreshing shaking Akbar awake who silently prepared himself without using any of her help. She wishes that the child starts to speak comfortably and to start his life but he didn't seem to be thinking the same.

As Akbar went to his own room the door of her room opened and in walk her handsome husband. He was wearing a large grey hoodie with his pyjama, unruly hair which only seems to make him more exquisite.

That's not all.

"Are you wearing glasses?".

"Yes".

Her eyes widen as she finds him wearing rounded glasses on his face which made him more handsome.

"Woah! What made you think you should?".

"I was in my study remembering our meetings so I remember you asking me to wear them. So, I ordered them online and they arrived just today morning. Are they really good?. You are so quiet".

"Good?. They make you look more than just good. My God, are you getting younger every day because I am sure as hell won't let you because if I get old, you get old with me".

He laughs, "I want to grow old with you, baby".

"Good".

"I have arranged the breakfast outside we should leave".

She nodded holding his hand walking outside to enjoy their family time.

After eating they all sit together talking beside Akbar.

"Akbar". She said softly making him jolt in his place looking at her scared

"I-I am sorry about disturbing you last night please don't hurt me". Akbar cried making her heart clench

She looks at her husband who has the same pained expression as her.

"Come here, beta". She said opening her arms for him

She knows he won't come because of his fears but she will continue to try until he starts coming to him.

He didn't come to her, again.

She looks at her husband, "Can you give us a few minutes?".

Once her husband left she moves to bend down in front of Akbar as she speaks, "You know my mother threw me in front of the orphanage at a young age?".

Akbar gasp looking at her and she nodded sadly, "I was 2 back then. It never made sense as to why she did that to me. Her own child because as far as I know a mother is supposed to love more than anyone. But she pushed me away. Do you see this scar?".

Akbar nodded.

"This scar is just one out of all other I received by some mean people for not listening to them. I was beaten every single day from the age of 5". She explained watching Akbar's eyes widen at the revelation, "It never made sense to me as to why I was beaten. I looked for my mother and I found her after some time. I stood in front of her and she didn't even recognise me. I wanted to scream and ask her everything that I have been through. But when I stood in front of her no words escape my mouth. I was numb and I know it was useless. She hurt me what would ask her now do any good to me?. When I saw her she told me that she was beaten by her husband because she didn't have any other child besides the step kids she got. That's when I decided to never build a life that I have to suffered from. I ran to the police station that day to complain against the people who hurt me but they didn't help me. That didn't stop my determination I started to fight the people off who hurt me. I know that if I live I will live every moment as I want and not how others wish for me. Because my life was mine, to begin with, and all the pain I took should be worthy of something bigger. I was never perfect with anything besides my studies so I invested in it. It's not easy to forget your nightmares and trust me I had them until after my marriage because I was still holding onto those painful memories. Though I was living the fact that I didn't let go of them completely only cause more pain. I know it doesn't make sense, Akbar. But there is all kind of monsters in this world and you need to build yourself strong enough to fight them off. Will, you waste the rest of your life by showing the one who hurt you that you are nothing?".

Akbar shakes his head and she kissed his forehead, "It will be hard but we are here for you. We will always believe in you".

"I-I will work on it". Akbar stuttered playing with his fingers

"That's all that matter".

Akbar Zohan- is not their biological child he was adopted a few months ago when he was brought to their orphanage. He was beaten to death and she remembers the fear she felt at that moment. They adopted him when they saw him broken. He reminded them of their past horrors. He is 10 years old carrying the pain of the world. He was abused by his mother and stepfamily for merely existing. They have made him work at a shop since he was 6. He took the experience to his little heart since then.

He is scared of sounds, mistakes and even his own sleep.

Her husband opened their orphanage right after she was hospitalized. He said if he had resources why not use them. So, with planning, they purchased a big land with equally big house equipped with security and on the other hand for all traumatized people they have special doctors to help them come back to life.

They went back inside to find her husband on the couch.

"Come on". She said to Akbar as they sit in the lounge then she spoke, "You remember we told you about your new sister?".

Akbar nodded meekly.

"Well, she is coming in one of these days".

Yes, she was having a girl and she is due any day.

"W-Will you hit her too?". Akbar's voice broke her daydreaming

"What?".

"If she ever made a mistake will you hurt her?".

"No! I will never hurt my own child".

Akbar nodded, "You promise?".

"Yes, we do".

After completing their breakfast Akbar went back to his room where he usually stays all day. Akbar had fears which he couldn't get rid off. The beating from his own mother every single day with the words filled with anger had made him look at everyone else in the same light. He remembers that night his current parents (Arooj and Zohan) found him and took care of him.

Even when he was afraid of people he somehow felt something from them. They are always taking care of him no matter what. They never shout, hit or do anything which might scare him. He had never been to malls, carnival and toy shops but now he does. He does everything a normal person his age would be doing.

Why isn't he normal then?.

He remembers Arooj telling him about abuse and he never thought that a person smiling, laughing and enjoying to go through something so bad. Does that means he could fight this as well?.

He opens his room door walking towards the sound of laughter coming from downstairs. He stands in the last steps of stairs looking at Arooj and Zohan.

"No, you look cute in them". Arooj said giggling

Zohan scowl, "No! I think you mean handsome".

"No, I know what I meant and I said cute".

"No. Handsome".

She narrows her eyes, "Are you trying to imply that I don't know what I am saying?".

His eyes widen as he gulp knowing it's one of her mood, "How did you turn it into this?".

"I can do anything".

"Of course. I am not even going to say anything because you are weird".

"You love me".

"That I do".

She laughs, "I think the romance meter might just break down with all the romance you have done since we met".

"I am fast learning".

"Sure".

"What's that supposed to mean?".

"Nothing".

"No, tell me".

"I won't".

"That's it". He said tickling her sides as she broke into laughter, "You know the more I get to know you the more I realise how much of a drama you are".

"Maybe you should have married the other woman your mother bought for you".

"Nah, I am glad they ran away with my rude behaviour".

"And I stayed".

"You always do".

She smiles kissing his cheeks as her eyes found Akbar who was looking at them with a hint of a smile. She waves her hand asking him to walk to them and for the first time, he started to take steps towards her instead of her taking steps towards him. She opened her arms not sure if he will accept but the moment he walked towards her wrapping his tiny arms her crying she feels herself being revived again.

"Akbar?". Her husband asked as he patted his back lovingly, "Kuch howa hai, beta?". (Something wrong, son)

"I want to be like you Ammi (Mama)".

Her breathing hitched with her eyes widening, "W-What?".

"I want to be like you. Strong". Akbar said moving back smiling at her, "You said that no one who hurt us should have the satisfaction of watching us in pain. I want to be like you".

She wipes his tears away feeling her own tears brimming, "You can be anything you want. We will always support you".

"Thank you, Ammi".

"Thank you for accepting us".

"Great! Now I am not a part of my own family". Her husband whined huffing crossing his hands over his chest

She looks down at Akbar winking and Akbar giggle which made her smile.

"Of course! I love my son more now".

"Yeah yeah. Rub it on my face".

"I am doing that already".

"Fine. When you ask for one of your cravings I won't get them".

"Oh really?. Then have a daughter yourself".

She feels Akbar chest vibrating bubbling with laughter as she caresses his cheeks.

"Ek toh baat baat per meri beti k naam se blackmail kia karo mujhe". (You are blackmailing me on my daughter name on every single thing)

"Toh pehle sochna tha na ab toh mai blackmail karoon gi". (You should have thought that before now I will surely blackmail you)

"Tumhara kuch nahi ho sakta". (You are impossible)

"I know. Thanks".

Akbar burst in laughter at their bickering.

"You both are always like this?". Akbar asked curiously

"Please. I am better than him. He is just immature".

"Ji nahi. Bilkul bhi nahi. She is lying. I am much better". (No. It isn't that)

Akbar giggles, "I think Ammi is cool".

Zohan huffed, "Fine. Be that way. I will have my daughter on my side soon".

"I think soon is now".

Before they know it Zohan was panicking, Akbar was scared and confused while she was trying to calm Zohan down but in the end, she had to slap him into senses.

She realises her worth once again when she gives birth. The hours of pain she went through and the moment she had her daughter reminded her of how much power a woman holds in this world.

She felt the motherhood that she never knew existed in her. She was scared after how her mother turned her away but when she had her daughter the fear vanished. The only thing she does know was that she needs to do best for her daughter. Some mothers might not be a mother to their child but most mothers are a mother to their child. Good and bad exist together and they need to exist together for the world to work.

She had her long journey filled with pain and she needed to live those moments so when she had beautiful moments as watching her child she knows what she needs to do. So, she knows the pain that inflicted on her shouldn't be on her own child and exactly what she had to do for them.

For all that pain that was worth she now knows how to build a warm house for her children.

Zohan, on the other hand, had loved his wife with his heart. At times he wonders about his love and how his heart seems to have this love for a woman who is just different. Perhaps that difference is one of the reasons he loved her. There were regrets in his life like when she craves something he couldn't cook it for her. However, throughout her 9 months he had taken care of every single thing she had asked for and even those she didn't. He had heard videos after videos to take care of her and his unborn daughter. He had cried when he had learned about his daughter in his prayers because that was one of his regrets as well- that he will never be able to see his daughter and most importantly with the world like now he wouldn't be able to save her either. There so much one can hear and feel but not having to watch is another thing. He would often break down but she would always hug him and tell him that all he had to do was his best because even the people with sight had not been able to protect their child completely.

So, he understands that what matter is that he does his best.

Besides that, it took him enough time to realise that he needs to feel everything that was around him. He started to realise that indeed without his sight he had locked himself away from the treasure of the world. That unless he by his own hands dragged himself down no one else ever could. He started to build himself again with her by his side. She stayed when he would break down and even when he won't because he was numb.

Breaking down often doesn't make anyone weak- it makes them human.

He heard the daughter cries that made him sigh in relief.

"A-Are they hurting her?". Akbar asked scared

He chuckles, "No. It's because she just opened her eyes and didn't find your Ammi".

"But they should give her to Ammi. She is crying".

"They will. Or maybe they will give her to us because Ammi is tired".

But his daughter was sent to a few tests while his wife was transferred to the ward. Akbar stayed holding his hand and he felt a pull on his heart to have his hand holding him for support. Even though Akbar knows that he didn't have any sight to provide him with much protection but that didn't stop him from believing that he will provide it.

She opens her eyes after feeling like a truck went over her. Even the bullet wasn't this bad. But it sure was worth it.

Her eyes look at Zohan holding their daughter as tears roll down his face which Akbar was wiping away frowning.

"You don't like her, Baba?". Akbar asked innocently

"No, I love her".

"Why are you crying?".

"I am happy that's why".

"So you cry when you are happy?. That's weird".

She laughs, "I told you he was weird".

"Ammi". Akbar said smiling as he runs to her, "Baba said you were hurt are you ok now?".

She smiles nodding holding his hand, "I am good now that I saw my children. Can you bring her here?".

Zohan places her daughter in her hands and tears starts brimming her eyes.

"You are weird too. You are crying". Akbar said and they laugh

"How does she looks?". Zohan asked

"Beautiful. She is beautiful".

Zohan nodded kissing her nose and she laughs, "That's my nose, Zo-Zo".

"Oops! My bad". Zohan said chuckling kissing her forehead lovingly, "I am so happy that you are my wife and I promise I will love you as long as I live".

"I am glad you are my husband".

"What about me?". Akbar asked

"We are grateful that you came to us". They both said smiling

That was their family.

Not the perfect one but with their compassion they can live through anything.

Some years later:

"Akbar Zohan". She said narrowing her eyes at him,"What do you have in your hands?".

"Ammi, she was crying for them". Akbar said sadly

She sighs.

She walks towards him,"Beta, you know if we wanted we would have given your sister candies but if we fulfill her every request she will stop understanding the worth of it. She will not be grateful for things for long periods".

Akbar nodded looking at the candies.

"You eat them. Don't use your pocket money to get her everything she needs. She needs to understand to grow into a beautiful girl".

"Ok. I will not give them to her. But please don't make her cry. I don't like it".

"Ok".

She remembers Akbar saying something when he held his sister for the first time,"I will protect her and love her. Always".

He had taken that role a little too seriously because now his life revolves around his sister. Though Sarah (her daughter) had everyone around her fingers especially her son and husband who wouldn't leave her for a minute. It's either her husband with Sarah and the rest of the time it was Akbar.

Akbar had finally grown out of his shell with the help of his daughter. Though she thinks he uses her as a excuse to still stays inside his wall he had at least learn to live with his pain.

Her husband was still the same man she had fell in love with.

He wrapped his arms around her kissing her cheeks lovingly,"Our son is growing up".

"I cannot believe how they are growing so fast".

"We can have another to watch from the start again".

"Funny. I don't remember saying I will participate in anymore activities".

"Come on! Even my daughter is now going to school in morning and I am home alone and bored".

"Find another hobby, mister".

"Please, baby".

"No".

"You are so mean. I don't even know why I love you". He groaned,"But I still love you".

"Well, at least I finally had my check for marrying you so you cannot do much".

They broke into laughter.

That was them.

Zohan and Arooj.

~~~***~~~
I enjoyed writing these 4K+ words and all of them are precious.
As I said last time, I had done my research and I know that the hardships shown could be different from other people who live with it. I apologise if there was any discomfort.
That being said,
Is it just I who finds that Akbar can have his own story or anyone else do as well?.
Could be a crossover from the other characters.
But, if you were to decide to have one of the character children story who would that be?.
I say, King Adam from chapter 34 cause why not?.
Let me know what you think and I will see you all in my next "one shot" story of "Ali" from the last one shot. Make sure you know who Ali is ;).
Thank you so much for all the support.
