Samantha, Cody, Ash, and Misty we're walking through the Viridian forest, where all kinds of exciting Pokemon await them. The forest was silent, or would be if Misty could keep her calm and not freak out around bug-type pokemon each time she saw one. Samatha was in thought thinking about her sister. At the same time, Cody and Ash seemed to have started a conversation with each other, tuning out Misty.

"So you got Pikachu as your first Pokemon?" Cody asked.

"Yeah," Ash confirmed. "Yeah, from Professor Oak."

"Cool, he gave me my Chamander and Samatha her Vulpix," Cody replied, looking at his sister next to him, who had been quiet for a while and saw her holding Kitsune with a dazed expression and realized she was having her lost in thought moments.

'She always gets lost in thought. She has been like that since mom died. However, big sister always had a way of breaking her out of it. Mom dying affected all of different. Big sister became hot temper and developed a defense wall, not wanting people to get close, and me well, I haven't changed much but always wish I could be better with words to help my sister feel better.' Cody thought.

"Wow, I didn't; Professor Oak gave Pokemon to we trainers, not in Pallet Town," Ash said, surprised.

"I don't think he usually does, but he gave us one since he met us a couple of times and helped us out when we were young and, going through some rough times."

"Really, what kind of things?" Ash asked.

Suddenly Misty screamed and hid behind Cody.

"What is it now?" Ash asked her.

"Look over there," She said with her eyes close, holding on tightly to Cody's waist.

Ash and Cody looked down to aee, a small green worm Pokemon.

"Ah, a Caterpie," Cody smiled. "Well, are you a cute little worm," He said, kneeling and touching its head.

"Bug are not cute! They are disgusting!" Misty shouted. Caterpie appeared to be hurt by Misty words.

"Misty, that is not very nice," Sam said with a frown as she came out of her thoughts."That is not true, Caterpie, don't listen to her."

Kitsune hopped out of Sam's arms and walked over to Caterpie, patting it back with its tail. "Vul, Vulpix."

"Caterpie, huh?" Ash asked as he smiled."Cool."

"Yeah, it's a pretty cool bug Pokemon," Cody said.

"Do something!" Misty said, annoyed.

"Alright, I'm going to catch Caterpie!" Ash said as he took out an empty Pokeball.

Cody and Sam moved aside with Kitsune.

"You're mine, Caterpie!" Ash said, throwing the empty Pokeball. Caterpie was a weak Pokemon so catching them was pretty easy. Within a matter of seconds, Caterpie was inside the Pokeball and was successfully captured.

Ash's poker face soon turned to a grin as he cheered."Yes! I did it!" He picked up the Pokeball."I did it! I caught a Caterpie!"

Cody raised an eyebrow as Ash continued to cheer with so much energy. He then suddenly locked arms with Misty and ran around in circles while his Pikachu fell to the ground.

Misty jerked her arm away. "Ash, your acting like a-" she was cut off by Ash shoving the Pokeball right in her face.

"Look, inside this ball is the first Pokemon. I have ever caught in my life," Ash said.

"Great, just keep it away from me, will ya," Misty said.

"Misty, don't be like that. It isn't nice," Samantha said.

"Yeah, your not afraid of a little Caterpie in a Pokeball, are you?" Ash teased.

"Bug scare me all bugs even if they are in a pokerall. Just keep it away from me!" Misty said and turned around.

Cody and Ash exchanged a glance as Sam sighed at Misty behavior and picked up Kitsune. At the same time, she was zoning back out a little bit as Ash smiled and went over to his Pikachu, who was still on the ground.

"Pikachu!" Ash called out. His Pikachu sat on up."We got a new friend," Ash said, holding out the Pokeball. Pikachu sniffed the Pokeball, and he cheered.

"I'm glad you like it," Ash said before he stood up."From now on, we will catch more Pokemon."

"Not a bad catch, but my first catch was cooler," Cody smirked.

Ash smiled before looking down at Pokeball. "Caterpie, your sticking with us."

Misty tensed and turned around slowly. "W-What does that mean?" She asked.

"Caterpie, come on out!" Ash called out, letting Caterpie out of his Pokeball. Misty screamed as she ran away, hiding behind a dar away tree. Caterpie titled its head a little, and Ash kneeled to its level."Come on, Caterpie, climb on my shoulder."

Caterpie nodded and was about to until it looked at Misty and rushed over to Misty, making her scream as Caterpie nudged up against her leg."Hey Misty, Caterpie really likes you," Ash stated.

"Get that big back to into its Pokeball!" Misty shouted.

'I get she doesn't like bugs, but Caterpie isn't even a scary bug.' Cody thought, looking at Caterpie.

Ash walked over towards her with a frown. "No way," He kneeled down beside her."Come on, Caterpie, climb up my shoulder."

Caterpie climbed onto Ash's shoulder, and he stood up."You're not going to scare Misty anymore," Ash said.

"What do you mean?" Misty asked.

"We will go on without her. Come on, Cody and Samatha," Ash said, pulling both twins along with Caterpie on his shoulder and his Pikachu following behind us.

Samatha sighed and looked at Cody. He nodded in understanding, leaving Misty felt wrong. A few minutes in walking, Kitsune and Pikachu felt like they were being followed and looked behind to see Misty following them.

"Pika, Pikachu," Ash Pikachu suddenly said. Ash looked at his Pikachu."What is it?"He asked as they stopped walking.

Pikachu pointed them as well, as Kitsune nodded in the same direction.

"Pika, Pika, Pikachu!" They looked back at Misty, who was following them.

"What are you following us for?" Ash asked.

"My bike! I'm still holding you responsible for my bike!" She shouted.

Cody sighed and picked up Ash's Pikachu into his arms as he began to walk off with Samatha following him as Ash and Misty started to argue.

"Hey, Cody and Sam, where are you both going?" Ash asked from behind them.

Cody turned around and sighed, shaking his head."Well, we're not going to get out here if you two keep fighting with each other.

Ash and Misty looked back at each other as Sam and Cody continued walking as they heard Ash and Misty both hmph in stubbornness.

After walking for a couple of hours, it started to get dark. So Cody, Samantha, Ash, and Misty decided to go to bed for the night. Although Misty protested, not wanting to sleep outside in a forest full of bugs, but there was nothing that could be done about it.

Sam sat up her sleeping bag beside Cody, who was next to Ash as the fire pit still burned brightly. Misty fell asleep while Caterpie, Pikachu, and Kitsune were still awake with Cody, Ash, and Sam, who was messing with something in her bag pocket.

"Goodnight," Sam said, clenching the item in her hand as she closed her eyes.

"Night," Ash said.

"Good night, Anna."

"Vulpix!"

"Pikachu!"

Pikachu and Kitsune sat near a tree stump with Caterpie looking at the moon.

The next day morning had approached. Everyone began to pack their things as Cody noticed Sam clutching something in her hand and was about to see what it was.

When something swopped down just above their heads and into the field of grass, they looked to see a beige-looking bird Pokemon with slicked-back red hair a pidegeotto.

"Awesome, a Pidgeotto," Ash said, digging out his pokedex.

"Pidgeotto, the Bird Pokemon. A normal flying type. The evolved form of Pidgey. It is armed with sharp claws and dives from the sky to capture its prey. Unlike the more gentle Pidgey, Pidgeotto can be dangerous. Approach with extreme caution."

Ash dug through his pocket to grab an empty Pokeball."I'll show you who's the dangerous one around here."

"Hey Ash, wait," Sam called out, but he threw the Pokeball before she could stop him. PiPidgeotto simply slapped the Pokeball away.

Cody walked up to Ash and sighed. "Ash, you can't just throw a Pokeball and catch it. You have to weaken it. First, dude," He explained.

"The only reason you caught Caterpie is because it was already a weak Pokemon," Misty added.

"I know what I'm doing! And stop talking about Caterpie like that! I'll show you go, Caterpie!" Ash threw Caterpie's Pokeball.

"Huh?" Cody, Sam, and Misty said at the same time.

"Ash, you need to call back Caterpie now," Sam said.

"Huh? Did I do something wrong?" He asked, looking at Sam.

A scream drew everyone's attention. They looked to see Pidgeotto attacking the worm Pokemon with ease.

"Caterpie!" Ash shouted.

"That is while she is saying to call Caterpie back," Cody said, pointing at the scene in front of them.

"Kitsune, use Swift!" Sam commanded.

Kitsune jumped out of Sam's arms and shook her tail, sending multiple golden stars at Pidgeotto protecting Caterpie. "Ash, call back Caterpie now," She said as Pidgeotto was distracted.

"Caterpie return," Ash said, holding Caterpie's Pokeball, and Caterpie went back inside as Pidgeotto got back on its feet.

Ash looked at his Pikachu, "Pikachu, go!" Pikachu rushed in, and Pidgeotto started to fly. "Pikachu, Thunder Shock, now!" Ash called, and Pikachu attacked. The Thunder Shock hit Pidgeotto and Ash threw an empty Poké Ball, catching Pidgeotto.

"Yes, we caught Pidgeotto!" Ash said. "Pikachu!" His Pikachu agreed.

Sam sighed in relief at how close that was as she got her brother's attention showing him a Pokeball-shaped locket. He nodded and put it around her ne, recognizing it as a birthday gift Jessie gave her and realizing what she was clutching onto.

"I am the greatest!" Ash bragged to Misty.

Suddenly, she slapped him across the face. "You're the worse! You don't know what you are doing. It'll be a long time till you be a Pokémon master, like in a million years!" She said.

"I'm trying to--"

"You should try to learn something about Pokémon first!" She cut him off, "With Pokémon, you got to use strategy! Pidgeotto is a bird! Caterpie is a worm! Birds eat worms, Mr. Pokémon master!"

Misty was hard on Ash even though she had a good point. He looked over at Cody and Sam in sadness, wondering if they thought the same.

"Sorry, dude, but she has a good point sending out Caterpie was reckless," Cody stated.

"Well, if you try hard enough, things will work out, won't they?" He asked.

"No, it won't! You should try learning from an expert!" Misty said.

"I admit that he made a wrong choice, but instead of judging him, you could give him proper advice," Samantha said.

"Well then, why don't you teach him since you know what you," Misty said.

"W-wait, I never sa-" Sam started but was cut off with Ash grabbing her hands in his. "Oh, Sam! It would mean the world to me if you taught me what you know!" He said, giving her puppy dog eyes.

"Okay, just let my hands go," She sighed, not expecting the puppy dog eyes.

"Alright!" He cheered, letting her go after giving her a tight hug."You're the best, Sam!"

"Yeah, first anyway, the first thing is-"

Suddenly a familiar laugh cut her off. She turned around with the others.

"So we meet again."

"That voice," Ash said.

Sam's eyes widen slightly, seeing a familiar figure along with two other ones in front of them.

"To protect the world from devastation."

"To unite all people within our nation."

"To denounce the evils of truth and love."

"Big sister," Sam said, seeing her sister made another appearance.

"Jessie."

"James."

"Team Rocket blast Iff at the speed of light."

"Surrender now or prepare to fight!"

"Meowth! That right!"

"Uh, we're kind of busy so coul-"

"No, you're not going anywhere, sis, not until you tell me why you left," Sam said, stareing into Jessie's eyes.

"Quiet, I'm here to listen to you besides, shouldn't be off doing more important matters," Jessie cut off Sam. "No matter, we're here for your Pokemon," Jessie said as James pointed at Ash.

"Hand over that Pikachu," James said.

"Huh?" Ash said.

"Hey, this is my Pikachu. Go out and find your own."

"He right, Jes. It's not like you to steal Pokemon, so stop this and come home, and if you still really want a Pikachu, try and find one it rumor that some live here in the forest after all," Sam said.

"I said no, now buzz off," Jessie said.

Cody looked at Sam and saw her looking at Jessie with complete focus and narrowed.

'She has always been able to read, big sister. She must be able to see what is wrong. Meanwhile, all I see is a bad attitude. I'm sorry, sister. I wish I could be more helpful, but I have no idea what to say to win big sis over.' Cody thought.

"The only Pikachu we want is that one," Jessie said.

"We're only looking for the rarest and most valuable pokemon in the world, kid," James stated.

'And that special Pikachus is just the kind of pokemon we need," Jessie said.

Meowth suddenly started slapping both Jessie and James on the face. Sam sighed, seeing her sister was still being stubborn and not listening to her at all.

"Is my Pikachu really that special?" Ash asked.

Meowth then jumped onto the ground and turned around to face Ash and the others." Your Pikachu"s powers impress even me. I really got a charge out of its incredible attack the last time we met. Its powers exceed its evolution level. Your pokemon would--"

This time Jessie and James slapped Meowth on the face and stomped on him, annoyed.

"Make things easy and hand over that Pikachu," Jessie said.

"Huh, forget it," Ash said.

"Then you leave us no choice," James said as he and Jessie threw out their Pokeballs, revealing Ekans and Koffing.

"Wonder why she wasn't using that Pokemon in that strange Pokeball?' Cody thought, seeing Jessie send out Ekans.

"Pokemon battle!" Jessie said.

"Hey, two against one that cheating," Ash stated.

"Well, as we say, all fair in love, war, and Pokemon battles," Jessie said, bringing a hand up against her face.

'Oh, sis, why do you keep lingering ignoring me. I will figure out what is going on and bring you home.' Sam thought.

"I say that saying rotten, and so are you," Ash said.

"Of course we are. We're the bad guys," James said.

"Well, if they're going to use two pokemon, then I don't see why we can't," Misty said.

"But the Pokemon league rules says only one Pokemon at a time," Ash said.

"Ash, if you follow the rules, you're going to lose all of your Pokemon," Misty said.

"She has a good point. I love my sister, but clearly, she is not the same person as before," Cody said with a sigh.

"Koffing, sludge attack, now!" James commanded. Koffing sent slimy black substances and aimed it towards Pikachu's eyes cutting off his sight.

Ash and Misty gasped. Cody and Sam just looked at Koffing's surprise, not expecting the sudden sludge attack.

"If you think you can win by using your dirty tricks, your wrong," Ash said, giving Pikachu to Sam and Misty.

Cody sighed as he saw Pidgeotto get knocked out, and then Ash charged in an attempt to fight Team Rocket, but James flicked him, and Ash fell backward.

"Ash, are you okay?" Cody asked as he walked over towards Ash's debate on if he should help Ash are let him continue on his own.

"Guess you got no choice. Let Pikachu in and watch Team rocket win," Jessie said.

"Pikachu," Pikachu said, trying to break free from Samantha's hold.

"No, Pikachu. You can't battle in this condition," Misty said, trying to rub off some of the sludge on Pikachu's face.

"Pi..."

"Ash, what are--" Misty started.

"I know you are still weak from are last battle, but now you're my only hope, Caterpie; go give it your best!" Ash said, sending out Caterpie.

"You can do it, Caterpie," Cody said as Ekans and Koffing went after Caterpie.

"Caterpie string shot now!" Ash shouted as Caterpie sent white web towards Ekans, Koffing before tackling them back, taking them down, and then did the same to Meowth.

"It's time Team Rocket blasted off," Jessie said as she and James grabbed Meowth and ran off after she took a small glance at her two siblings.

"You may have won this round, but we will be back," James said.

"Come back any time. We'll be glad to beat you. Mm!" Misty said, sticking her tongue out.

"We did it. We did it! We won our first Pokemon victory fair and square!" Ash cheered

"Not bad," Cody said as he saw Ash pick up Caterpie smiling.

"Caterpie, I'm very proud of you. You really did your best, and we won because of you," Ash said.

"You're stronger than you look," Misty commented.

"Pika, Pikachu," Pikachu said while Kitsune nodded from her place next to Sam's leg.

"Yeah, good job, but who knows what would have happened if they used that other Pokemon in that Pokeball," Cody stated, watching his sister fully clear of the sludge on Pikachu's eyes.

"Yeah, what was in that Pokeball Jessie took from you, Sam?" Misty asked.

"Don't know first time seeing it only she knows it was in her room, so it belongs to her," Sam said with a shrug, putting down Pikachu clean a good amount of the sludge.

"She right. It was big sis Pokemon, so she didn't steal it. No point worrying about it, I guess.

"Right, you called her sis, so you're related ten. Is that why you have that bag?" Misty asked.

"No, that belongs to our mother," Cody said. "Now, back to Caterpie."

"Right, Misty, I guess you feel differently about Caterpie now," Ash said, shoving Caterpie towards Misty.

"Well, I..." Misty stuttered."

"Yeah, why don't the two of you make up," Sam said."Just pet Caterpie on the head and say you did a good job.

"Well, it's only fair," Misty agreed. She slowly and hesitantly reached her hand out to Caterpie, but was interrupted by a sudden String Shot that started to cover its body, and she let out a scream.

"Caterpie?" Ash asked as he put it down on the ground.

"It's evolving!" Cody said.

"Caterpie, this is so great!" Ash said as Caterpie's body suddenly changed into a green hard-shell.

"Metapod," The newly evolved Caterpie said.

Ash pulled out his Pokédex.

"Metapod, Caterpie's next stage. It has encased its body in a hard shell. This specimen reached this stage faster than any previously discovered Pokémon of this variety."

Ash grinned, "Hey, maybe that means it can keep changing and go to the next stage right away," He said. He kneeled down to its level and held it up as Pikachu walked over to Metapod. "Nice to meet you, Metapod. Not in a mode to talk?" Ash joked.

Cody looked to see Misty smiling at the scene but then started to scream when a Beedrill went fly by them. "Please, please, let's just get out of this forest!" Misty begged.

"No way! Ash said as he placed Metapod in his bag and tossed Misty her before running up ahead down the path." There are still plenty more Pokemon in this forest.

"Hey, wait for us!" Misty yelled.

"Come on; we got lots of Pokemon to catch!" Ash said, smiling as he ran down the path with Misty, Sam, Cody, Pikachu, and Kitsune following him.
