I was practically hyperventilating. He had asked me.... Asked ME. Not anyone else, ME. I hadn't been the one to ask it. "Yes," I said, stuttering. "I-I will go w-with you." Aidan smiled at me and whether it was my crazy mind or not, I could've sworn he was blushing. He stood up.
"Well, great then, see you then!" He said nervously and then raced out of the common room and I collapsed on the floor, in shock. I watched as a box was placed on my bed, the box had holes in it and I swear I saw something move inside it. The delivery man left as soon as he came. He probably apparated. I walked over to the box and read the label. It read: Just a little something for my favourite daughter, Love your mother, Mandy. I undid the ribbon and opened the lid and something jumped at me. I caught and held it up, and I felt my heart soar. In my hands was a tortoiseshell kitten. I wondered if my mother had gotten permission to send her to school. She was so tiny, she couldn't be more than eight weeks old. I cuddled her and she let out a tiny mewl. Her eyes were yellow. She couldn't be more perfect. I needed a name for her. One name came to me, Ginger. Ginger. It fit her perfectly.

I was walking with Kelsey and she had just told me she was going with Gert, a Dutch Gryffindor. I hadn't told her who I was going with, not yet. I wanted to wait for her to ask. "So," she said with that thick accent of hers. "How has your week been?"
"My week has been going great," I said absent-mindedly. I was still waiting for her to ask. I kept with her pace.
"What made it so great?"
"Oh... Mother sent me a kitten."
"Oh that's awesome. Who is your date to the ball?" Finally, the question I had been waiting for. I felt my cheeks start to grow warm.
"Are you sure 'date' is the right word?" I asked, delaying my answer slightly.
"Well, I can't think of any word better."
"Okay, Then." I said and I added dreamily,"Aidan." She gave me a surprised look.

That evening, in the Great hall, Aidan turned to me. "Do you have a dress yet?"
"No," I laughed. "You only asked me today. That does not mean I have a dress yet."
"Oh," he said,"stupid mind."
I laughed.
