Andrews and his team reached the two cars, an evil grin appearing on the human's face.

"Finally! ... Get the agents out of there, I'll take the hedgehog." Andrews commanded and approached the white car. He opened the door and his eyes laid on the two dead hedgehogs but the baby was nowhere to be found.

"Wha-, where is he? DAMN IT!" the agent screamed in frustration and slammed the door shut.

In the mean time Sonic has just reached his house and rocked the baby hedgehog in his arm to calm him down.

"Shh, stop crying little one, everething's gonna be fine" Sonic said in a calm voice.

After closing the door, the royal blue hedgehog laid the kid on the couch and examined him.

'I better clean these cuts before they get infected' Sonic thought and already started to put pillows around small hedgehog. "There, now you can't fall off. I'll be back in a sec." the blue blur informed the still sniffing black and red hedgehog.

'At least he stopped crying now' Sonic thought as he came back with the first aid box.

The little hedgehog looked at the adult hedgehog with watery eyes. Sonic put a bit of rubbing alcohol on a cutton ball and sat down beside the small hedgehog. As soon as the alcohol touched a cut on the dark hedgehog's forehead, the crying started again.

"Shh, I know it stings but this has to be done." Sonic said in a calm voice and moved on to the next cut on his cheek. Again the hedgehoglet screamed at the top of his lungs. 'Poor kid' the blue hedgehog thought and continued his work.

After Sonic was done with cleaning the wounds of the young hedgehog, he placed band-aids on the depper cuts.

"There, all done." the blue blur said and petted the dark hedgehog's head.

As Sonic was doing this, his eyes wandered to the blanket in which the hedgehog baby was wrapped in. His eyes stopped at a word that was stitched on the blanket.

"Shadow?" Sonic read aloud and the small black and red hedgehog looked up at Sonic by the mentioning of his name.
"Hmm, is this your name?" the blue hedgehog asked but didn't became an answer. He got just stared at by the baby hedgehog.

Sonic looked back at the blanket and noticed a number beneath the name. So the adult hedgehog unwrapped Shadow from the blanket and read the numbers.

"June 19th, I quess that's your birth date. Seems like you're just a week old." Sonic whispered and got lost in his thoughts.

However the blue hedgehog got soon pulled out of his thoughts as something touched his hand. Sonic looked down and saw Shadow's hand wrapped around his index finger.

Shadow was still looking at the adult hedgehog, his eyes were reddish from all the crying and his tan muzzle was still wet from tears.

Sonic smiled down at the baby hedgehog and pulled him to his chest.

"Don't worry Shadow, G.U.N. won't get you, I'll always be there for you." Sonic whispered calmly and started humming a lullaby. The dark hedgehog slowly fall asleep to the heartbeat of Sonic. However, the little one's rest was cut short as the door was flung open and the crying began anew.

"How often do I have to tell you to not sneak up on me." Knuckles yelled at the two tailed fox. "I was just trying to  wake you up cause you were sleeping again and anyone could have taken your Master Emerald." Tails argued back with crossed arms. "Grrr, How often do I have to tell you, I was not sleeping." the red echidna growled. "You totally were, Knucklehea-" "GUYS!!!!" Sonic shouted and got finally the attention of his two friends, also that's when they finally noticed the crying baby hedgehog.

"Wow Sonic, did you get Amy pregnant or something?" Knuckles said teasing and instantly  received a death glare from Sonic and a kick from Tails.

"No, I didn't get Amy pregnant, I -" "So you got another girl pregnant?" the echidna interrupted but got kicked again by the two tailed fox. "OW, that hurt you know." Knuckles complained.

"Would you just listen to me! I rescued him from a car accident and kinda promised to take care of him." the blue blur explained, finally having the attention of Knuckles. Sonic then started to rock the crying Shadow to calm him down again.

"Poor little guy. What's his name?" Tails said and watched the small hedgehog curiously. "His name is Shadow and he's just a week old." the blue blur explained. "How do you know that?" Knuckles asked. "It's written on his blanket." Sonic simply replied.

"But Sonic, what will you do with him when Dr. Eggman attacks. You can't take Shadow with you into a fight, it's way to dangerous!" Tails stated. "Maybe Amy can take care of him." Sonic replied.

"Brilliant idea, Sonic. She'll do that right after she had smashed you into oblivion because you've a baby without her." the red echidna replied.

"Would you stop it already. She isn't that crazy and she loves kids, so I'm sure she's gonna help me." Sonic said, while giving his red friend a death glare.
"Now if you will excuse me, I have to get Shadow to bed." the blue blur added as he saw the sleeping figure in his hands.

"If you wanna help me, you could get baby supplies for me." Sonic said before he went upstairs. "Already on it." Tails replied and dragged a confused Knuckles with him.

Sonic put Shadow down in his bed and placed pillows behind the baby hedgehog so he can't fall off. As soon as he finished that, the blue blur laid down beside Shadow and put an arm around him protectively. Shadow in return cuddled into the warmth of the older hedgehog and gave light snores as he fall back down to sleep.

"Sleep well, my little Shadow." Sonic whispered and soon drifted of to sleep as well.
