The Dragon King stood in his castle staring out the open window. A soft wind blew and he closed his eyes. He looked out over his peaceful kingdom and a soft smile came to his face.

"Was it worth it!" a voice screamed.

Acnologia opened his eyes and whirled around. The sun and the breeze were gone. Now it was night and he stood in a tower with a small window that had been thrown open. It blew in the wind that howled outside. The stars and moon were covered by clouds and Acnologia could sense a storm coming.

He looked around the room, it was a nursery and suddenly the heart of the Dragon King sank. The candles had all been extinguished and there was no magic lighting the room so that the nursery felt empty. Acnologia slowly walked up to the empty crib and ran his hand along the wood, a part of him broke as he looked at it.

"Was it worth it," the same voice sobbed.

Acnologia turned and his heart ached. A blonde stood in the door. Her hair was wild and cacked with blood from a wound in her head. The blood ran down her face and stained her white and black gown.

"Anna," Acnologia begged, stepping forward.

"No," Anna commanded as tears streamed down her face mixing with her scarlet blood.

"Please," Acnologia begged.

"You did this. You brought this on our family," Anna sobbed from the doorway.

"I didn't know - "

"What? That this would happen... that's hardly an excuse," she spat.

"Anna, I didn't want this," Acnologia growled.

"And yet... this is what you have. This is what you gave up for power."

"For peace," Acnologia argued.

"What peace, all I see is loss and blood," Anna scowled.

And then there was a baby babbling. Acnologia turned and found a young child smiling in the cradle. The baby had hair of blue and large brown eyes that belonged to Anna she smiled and reached for Acnologia.

"Wistala," Acnologia breathed.

"So you do remember her name, I thought you would've forgotten after all these years," Anna stated her voice full of venom.

"I would sacrifice everything if I could undo that day," Acnologia snarled turning to her.

"I don't believe that. Not for a moment. If you had to choose, you'd choose power."

"No," Acnologia growled.

The baby stopped babbling, looked to her parents, and began to cry. Both of them looked to her, Acnologia's eyes were full of pain, Anna's were full of pity. Anna touched the blood on her cheek and looked to the child.

"Maybe what you say is true... but that doesn't change a thing," Anna murmured.

Acnologia looked at his child and felt his heart rip into pieces. Tears suddenly flooded his eyes and he gritted his teeth.

"Please leave me," Acnologia pleaded, "I can't have this... Just leave me..."

"We already have Acno... we're both gone," Anna breathed.

And like a breath of wind both her and the baby were gone. Acnologia was left in the empty room.

Acnologia bolted out of bed and tried to steady his breathing - it had been a dream. A terrible dream. He held his head and growled; this changed nothing.

He threw the doors of his room open and strode down the hall startling his guards, "Assemble the lords. We need those twin dragon slayers!" he commanded.

"Sir, we lost contact with our first team," a servant cried jogging, trying to keep up the pace with the Dragon King's huge strides.

"All of them?" Acnologia asked.

"We found all save one. Two were bested by soldiers of Sabertooth who are now traitors," the servant answered looking over papers in his hands.

Acnologia froze and turned to his servant, "Siery... was she found?"

"uh... no... no sir," the servant murmured skimming through the paperwork.

Acnologia snarled and then began to walk away, "Get me two more teams. I want Siery found and brought to me now. I will not have her ruin this."

"Sir, I don't understand," the servant objected running after him.

Acnologia turned quickly and grabbed the servant by his neck, "You don't have to understand, just obey. I want teams scouring the countryside. Find me those twin dragon slayers and bring them to me alive! And if you find Siery, arrest her... she's a loose cannon and she will kill the twins before I can make use of them. I want all three of them. Now."

The servant choked and nodded furiously.

"Now go," Acnologia growled dropping the servant.

A servant nodded quickly and then skidded away. Acnologia snarled as he strode towards his throne room. Suddenly he thought of his dream again and he felt something in his chest burn. He shook the feeling away and growled. He couldn't let this distract him. What was gone was gone, there was no way to bring it back... but he still had a chance to make what he had lost worth it.

Far from the Dragon King's castle, the rebellion stood hidden in the mountains. They had been founded by the great dragon known as Grandeeney. Their leader looked over a map of the county, her mind working furiously.

"They were last spotted here," Romeo, her second in command stated pointing to a city. He was a young man of twenty with purple hair that lay suspended just above his soldiers

"Where are they going?" Charle, the rebellion's scout, asked.

Wendy Marvel, the leader of the rebellion, was a young woman who had seen far too much. She looked over the map and pointing to the city labeled "Magnolia".

"To the place where their parents left them answers," Wendy stated.

"Then we must head out at once!" Charle stated.

"No," Wendy commanded, "If we figured that out, rest assured Acnologia did as well. I will not send my people unless absolutely necessary. There's no safe route from here to there... our people would be in trouble if they were caught up in a crossfire... which they will be. And besides, we know nothing of these twins, I'm not sending my people on a fool's mission that may just be an elaborate scheme of the king."

"So... what do we do?" Romeo asked.

Wendy thought for a bit more and looked to Romeo, "Get your father to contact his old guildmates... If they think they can be trusted, then they can send them on the right path."

"Sounds like a good plan," a voice called. Chelia, a young woman with wild pink hair and a large grin, walked into the tent, "Safe plan... but it isn't certain."

"Chelia," Wendy greeted.

"How'd the attack go?" Charle asked.

"We freed a few more kids, and got seven recruits," Chelia grinned.

Romeo looked to Wendy, "We're growing, so... maybe it's time for us to take some more risks... if we want to gain traction we have to make use of the numbers we have. If these twins are who everyone says they are... this could be the breakthrough we've been looking for. With a Redfox and Dragneel on our side, we'd gain so many allies."

"Yes... but... but acting rashly means we make ourselves a bigger target," Wendy murmured. "The larger we grow the more dangerous we are... and Acnologia knows that... if we provoke him we may bring him upon us."

"And then we'll handle it," Chelia assured Wendy, "We always have... we always will."

Wendy smiled as she looked to her closest friends, "Thank you... but I stand by my decision... we will not risk anything until I am certain that it is necessary."

The three nodded.

"It's a wise choice, child," Charle agreed.

"You know that I'll support you no matter what," Romeo grinned.

Wendy blushed and Chelia grinned. She put an arm around Wendy's neck and glance as Romeo slyly, "Don't forget Romeo... if she breaks your heart, I'll still be here."

"CHELIA!" Wendy blushed further, as did Romeo.

"I'm just saying," Chelia shrugged now grinning.

Wendy was the shade of a tomato, Romeo was only a slight pink.

"Well, if we're going to play it safe... I'm going out to pick some fights... I'm not staying bored," Chelia grinned.

"Be careful!" Charle called as Chelia ran out, "Wait! Child, you need supplies if you're going on more raids!"

The white-haired woman suddenly turned into a cat, sprouted wings, and flew after the pinkette. This left Romeo and Wendy alone. Wendy looked back to her map, still red as a tomato.

"Don't worry about what she said," Romeo assured her with a smile, "I'm not going anywhere."

"That's not... I didn't mean... Ug," Wendy put her face in her hands. "Look, I know I'm bad at this, I mean I don't even know why-"

"Don't say it," Romeo chuckled putting a hand on her shoulder, "I knew who I fell in love with."

"Who?" Wendy groaned.

"The wind. And she's wild and free... she can't stay in one place and thinks that everyone just wants her to fly by."

Wendy groaned as she looked back at Romeo, "You and your poetry."

"It's true... and I'm going to stay with you and wait. I'll wait as long as I have to."

"But you shouldn't have to," Wendy objected facing him, "Look, Chelia knows love and she's better at this, I'm... I'm - "

"You," Romeo smiled, "And I'm willing to wait."

"You'll have to wait too long... I can't be in a family until he is gone," Wendy shook, "He destroyed my mother... I can't let him hurt anyone else."

"Hey," Romeo soothed grabbing her by the shoulders and looking into her eyes, "I don't care if I have to wait until I am eighty."

Wendy looked to him - still immensely red, "Thank you."

"Now let's do some digging on these twin dragons," Romeo smiled taking Wendy's hand and leading her out of the tent.
