Chapter Thirty Three

I looked up at Emily, wondering if I was imagining what she had just said. "What did you say?" I asked. "What I said was, there might be a way to bring her back. It's a little risky, but it could work," she answered. My heartbeat started to accelerate and I was willing to do anything it took to save Delphine, even if it meant giving my life to her. "What is it?"

Emily pulled off one of the many necklaces she wore around her neck and handed it to me. It was a simple silver chained necklace with a small conch shell in its center. "What am I supposed to do with this?" I asked Emily, slightly confused. "This is an enchanted conch shell. It can grant someone one wish, I was saving that wish for a while, but now I think you should have it," she explained.

I looked down at Delphine and held her close to me before getting ready to make the wish. Slowly, I ran a hand through her soft red-brown hair. Emily had instructed me on how to make the wish, and I followed each one, not wanting to screw up this opportunity. I stared down at the conch shell in the center of my palm and took a deep breath as I prepared the words. "I wish for Delphine to come back to life," I whispered into the shell.

A small light had come out of it and floated towards Delphine. I didn't know if this was normal, but I stayed perfectly still. My eyes followed the light. It came to a halt in the center of Delphine's chest and sank into the wound. The light spread throughout her body, and I watched in awe as the wound from the trident began to heal.

After a moment, the light had faded, and I was worried that I did something to stop the healing. The wound was gone and was replaced with a faint but noticeable scar. "Delphine?" I asked, hoping that she would wake up. Her hand began to twitch slightly, and then her eyes slowly fluttered open. "A-Arthuas?" she asked, groaning slightly. Happiness rose inside me, and I pulled Delphine into a hug. "Oh, Delphine! Your back!" I cried with happiness.

Everyone let out small screams of joy, and Veronica swam towards us and embraced Delphine tightly. "I'm so glad that you're back!" Veronica muffled into Delphine's shoulder. "I'm glad to be back," Delphine smiled. When they pulled apart, I gently grabbed her hand, and her eyes locked onto mine. "You sacrificed yourself for me?" I asked when we pulled apart. "Yes, of course! Arthuas, there's something I need to tell you, something I've wanted to tell you from the moment we met," Delphine answered. I smiled at her, somehow knowing what it was. "After all the time we've spent together, I have developed feelings for you, and I can't keep it hidden anymore. Prince Arthuas, I'm in love with you," she confessed.

I was speechless, I had feelings for her that I had yet to tell her, but I was overjoyed that she had feelings. "Delphine, I love you too. From the moment I laid eyes on you," I smiled widely. The others let out small aww's, and I pulled Delphine into a long and passionate kiss. "Let's go home," I smiled when the kiss ended. She nodded in agreement and swam back to Atlantis to tell Father that Queen Esme had been defeated.

And I hoped that he would accept that when me and Delphine were together, nothing could get in the way of our love.
