[1.16]
"I'm home!" Lucas yelled as he and Adonis walked in through the front door.
Lucas was taking off his shoes as his mother appeared from around the corner, "Welcome home, Miles?" She smiled quizzically and then her eyes landed on the suitcase sitting beside him, "Are you spending the night?"
Adonis returned the smile, "A few nights actually. Is that okay, Grace?" Seriously, he's on a first name basis with my mother?!
Grace frowned, "Of course you can, is everything alright?"
Adonis feigned a frown, "Well... I just don't want to spend any time at home right now..." His eyebrows furrowed and he bit his bottom lip as if he were trying not to cry. Lucas looked on in shock. It was scary how good of an actor he was. Why was he here in the first place? Why did he want to stay here? Did he just want to avoid his father?
That seemed to be enough a reason for Grace as she sent him a sympathetic look. This two faced bastard, Lucas thought. Grace walked over to place a hand on his shoulder, reassuring him, "You can stay as long as you'd like, sweetheart. We don't have any spare rooms though... you'll have to share a room with Lucas."
Lucas swore he could see the hint of a smirk on Adonis's face before it quickly disappeared. Lucas was quick to oppose, "What?! He can just sleep on the couch, can't he?!"
"Lucas!" His mother hissed, and Lucas looked down at the floor as he was scolded, "He's our guest, your friend! Your bed is big enough for the both of you, I don't see the problem."
"Yeah, what's the problem, Luke?" Adonis added. Lucas flashed Adonis a glare whilst he just continued to send him an innocent look. The problem?! You want to know the problem?! The problem is that I'll have to sleep unguarded next to a perverted sociopath with my guard down. Who knows what he'll do to me while I'm sleeping! I'm not sleeping with him next to me; I refuse to. Guess I'm sleeping on the couch...
Lucas rolled his eyes, "Whatever."
"Go help Miles unpack, Lucas." Grace ordered. Lucas grumbled profanities as he grabbed Adonis's suitcase and frustratingly dragged it up the stairs. Adonis followed after him after he said his thanks to Grace who apologized for her sons bratty behavior. Only when his back was to Grace did he smile sadistically.
Lucas threw the suitcase on the ground once he was in his room. He knew Adonis was right behind him so he immediately turned to speak to him, "You can have the bed, I'll sleep on the couch." Adonis was busy walking around the room, taking in his surroundings. Lucas frowned when Adonis flopped down on his bed and wrapped himself in his sheets. A chill went down his spine when Adonis burried his face into his pillow and took a deep inhale.
"W-What are you doing?" Lucas shuddered.
Adonis seemed lost in his own little world, and Lucas was more than uncomfortable. He watched with a tense silence as Adonis just continued to scrawl all over his bed, taking in as much as his scent as possible. Lucas feared what Adonis would do if he wasn't in the room to keep a watchful eye on him. Lucas was now one hundred percent sure he did not want to spend the night in this house alone with Adonis. Lucas wanted so desperately to pull him off his bed and kick his ass for being such a creep, but that was a risk he couldn't take. He couldn't do anything, so he just shook his head, tearing his eyes away from the disturbing scene,
"Right... well, have fun. I'm sleeping downstairs. The bathroom is across the hall." Lucas gritted his teeth as he spoke, trying not to let the disgust he felt at that moment seep into his words. He speed walked to the door, intent on leaving as soon as possible.
Dread overwhelmed Lucas as he heard heavy footsteps behind him, flinching when a hand gripped him by the wrist and held him in place. Lucas kept his back to Adonis who was now standing directly behind him. His grip was tight, causing Lucas to wince, but he bit his lip to endure the pain. He didn't turn when he felt a breath on his ear and a body press against his back. The scene was eerily familiar, fear gripped at Lucas's heart as he remembered that day in the bathroom; where he had first met Adonis.
"Where do you think you're going? We're sleeping together." There was a dangerous edge to his voice, his command was meant to dominate Lucas. It worked, Lucas felt small, knowing he couldn't refuse. The more seconds that passed where Lucas didn't openly respond to Adonis caused the grip on his wrist to tighten. Lucas was sure it would leave a bruise later.
Lucas's bottom lip trembled as he muttered a submissive, "Okay." He hated how much power Adonis had over him. He hated feeling so small, so not in control. This was fucking awful.
At the sound of Lucas's trembling voice, the tense atmosphere vanished and the grip on Lucas's wrist loosened. Adonis smiled as he pulled Lucas, rather harshly, towards the bed. Lucas struggled to regain his balance as he was pulled, thrown onto the bed only for Adonis to crawl right next to him, cuddling him from the side. Lucas clenched his teeth as he lyed absolutely still, Adonis wrapping a muscular arm around his stomach and resting his head on his chest. Adonis smiled ruefully when he heard Lucas's fast beating heart, closing his eyes to enjoy the moment and capture it in his memory forever. Though, it really was captured forever, if you take into consideration the multiple cameras hidden around Lucas's room recording each and every second between them. Adonis smiled even wider at the thought.
Lucas stayed tense, watching with wide eyes as Adonis started to draw circles on his chest, playing with the fabric of his shirt. This would be considered an intimate moment between couples; but only Adonis thought of it as such. Lucas was far from thinking this was intimate. He was unnerved by Adonis's touches, he felt sick when Adonis wrapped his leg around his, tangling them together. He was so close. No space between them was left unoccupied as Adonis filled it with his hard body. Lucas glanced pleadingly at the closed door, hoping for an interruption to end this moment as soon as possible. He didn't care if it was Molly asking him to drag her to the store, he would be glad for it this time. He didn't care if it was his mother asking him to do chores, he would volunteer to clean the entire house, taking as much time as he possibly could. He would do anything, anything to separate him from Adonis.
Adonis suddenly spoke, "I don't know why you're so stubborn, baby-" Ugh, baby? Please stop, "I mean, it's only natural for couples to sleep in the same bed. Even more natural for married couples. They live together, sleep together, do everything together."
Lucas's eyes flashed open, panic overwhelming him. He took to voicing his concerns, "Married...?"
"Mhmm," Adonis confirmed, shifting to snuggle closer into Lucas's body, "Of course we're going to wait until after high school, it's important to focus on school right now. I want the best possible future for you - no, for us. And then, you can focus all your attention on me. We'll be together until death do us part ~"
Lucas was mortified. Adonis was insane. Completely, and utterly insane. He already had a whole future planned for them?! This was crazy. He's delusional! Does he really believe Lucas feels the same way? No, of course he knew Lucas didn't, but it seemed like Adonis didn't care. It seemed Adonis was happy either way, that it was okay if Lucas didn't love him, Adonis had all the love they could possibly need. Lucas wanted to throw up. He wanted to run out of this room, far far away.
But Adonis did say it was after high school. Graduation was Lucas's deadline, that helped calm him just the slightest. But that meant he had to quicken his plan even more, he had to become the most popular boy in school before Adonis did anything too drastic to Lucas. But in order to follow through with his plan, he had to get rid of the threat Adonis posed. He had to destroy whatever evidence Adonis had against Lucas. And that meant sneaking into Adonis's house. But how was he supposed to sneak into Adonis's house when Adonis was practically attached to his hip? It would be impossible to go anywhere without Adonis knowing or following him. He knew it would be impossible to convince or persuade him to leave him alone, at least to give him enough time to sneak into his house, find the evidence, and destroy it. He would have to distract Adonis, or wait until he's asleep? Perhaps even... knock him out, drug him? Was Lucas really willing to go that far? I mean, it was Adonis he was talking about.
"What are you thinking about?" Lucas froze and was pulled out of his train of thought. He glanced down to peer into a pair of azure eyes innocently staring up at him, but his words were prying, wanting so desperately to know what ran through Lucas's mind at that moment.
Lucas nervously smiled, "N-Nothing. Get some sleep."
Adonis raised a brow. It was way too early to go to sleep. He hadn't even unpacked yet. But being in Lucas's arms, it was almost like a dream. And maybe in Lucas's arms, Adonis would finally be able to sleep and dream, instead of having terrible, scream and blood filled nightmares like he usually did. Adonis simply smiled and nodded, resting his head back onto Lucas's chest and closing his eyes. Lucas's heart served as a lullaby as he drifted off to sleep.
Lucas waited exactly 10 minutes and 23 seconds for Adonis to fall asleep. At least, he was sure he was asleep. His grip on his waist had loosened, which wouldn't happen if Adonis were conscious. Lucas wasn't sure how long Adonis would stay asleep, or how much of a heavy sleeper he was. But Lucas had to know, so Lucas lightly tapped Adonis's cheek in an effort to wake him up. Nothing. Lucas then raised his arm from his chest and rested it on the side of the bed. Adonis shifted, mumbling to himself as he quickly wrapped his arm back around Lucas and pulled him close. Lucas frowned. Okay, there goes his plan of sleeping downstairs.
Well, Adonis was asleep, so maybe Lucas didn't have to worry about Adonis doing anything. Lucas tried to take a deep breath, trying to convince himself he wasn't in any danger. He laid on the bed for a long time. Boredom eventually overwhelmed him, and the only thing he could do at that moment was sleep. So he, too, went to sleep.

The next day, Lucas had to squirm his way out of Adonis's arms. Adonis stubbornly held on to him as long as he could until they were late to school and his mother luckily intervened, separating them. His mother was a little suspicious on why they were so close, but didn't say anything. Lucas was glad when he and Adonis finally separated at school, finally feeling as if he could breathe.
He was at his locker before lunch when Charlie came up to him with a bright smile. His eyes wandered to the plastic container filled with mouthwatering brownies. Charlie held up the tray, "Your brownies."
Lucas swallowed. Charlie was so fucking nice. An angel compared to Adonis. How could someone like Charlie even exist? Lucas returned the smile, hesitating - no one had ever made him something before, "You really made them... for me?"
"Of course! Why? You're not allergic to anything, are you? I mixed in a little bit of peanut butter..." Charlie started to retract his hands, frowning. He was disappointed in himself for not asking Lucas if he had any allergies earlier. He didn't want to be the reason his friend had an allergy attack.
Lucas instantly reached out to take them from him, "No, I'm not! I'm just..." He looked down at the container with warm eyes, then at the boy standing in front of him. He smiled, "Thankful."
Charlie awkwardly returned the smile, confused. His cheeks started to burn as Lucas continued to shine him his adorable smile. Charlie stuttered, "U-Uhm... you're welcom-"
Suddenly, a hand reached out of nowhere to smack the container out of Lucas's hands. It landed on the ground with a harsh thud and the brownies flew all over the hallway. Students stopped to surround the spectacle, shocked. Lucas blinked, taking a second to realize what just happened before looking up to see Adonis glaring at Charlie with what could only be described as... jealousy? Charlie felt small and looked down at the floor, biting his trembling lip in fear at his intimidating presence. Before Lucas could say a word, Adonis turned and pushed past the crowd of gossiping students.
Lucas felt the anger boiling inside of him. Now that everybody knew the truth about Adonis, he didn't really have a reason to hide the fact that he was an asshole. So he had nothing to lose from him visibly bullying someone in front of the school who already thought of him as a terrible person. But it just had to be Charlie. Why hadn't Lucas been more careful? Adonis only did what he just did because be believed Lucas 'belonged' to him. He was jealous, and in that act of jealousy he targeted Charlie. Why was Charlie still involved in all of this? Why was it, no matter what Lucas did, the world found some way to keep him and Charlie apart as friends? Maybe being his friend was dangerous. Being around Charlie just made him a target.
Students gathered around Charlie to offer their support, and someone ran to get a teacher to tell them what they had just witnessed. Adonis would probably get detention, but Lucas knew detention or whatever punishment he would get wouldn't stop him.
"I'm sorry..." Lucas mumbled, and Charlie frowned. Charlie politely stepped away from the group of students around him and stepped closer to him.
"Sorry? Don't worry about it, they're iust brownies. I can make more. Besides, it was stupid to think Miles was different... I see that now."
But that wasn't what Lucas was apologizing for. He really, truly did want to be Charlie's friend. But it was okay. Charlie would be okay. He had the whole school to back him up now, he could make new friends that he could rely on, make brownies for. Share his love of Time Of Death. He wouldn't be alone. It would be okay. Lucas would be... okay.
"I know. I'll see you later, okay Charlie?" Lucas feigned a smile and turned on his heel. Charlie kept his eyes on his back as he was once again surrounded by concerned students and teachers who were trying to direct his attention.
But Charlie was overwhelmed. Overwhelmed with the feeling of... dread.
