"Okay...Everyone, thanks for all your hard work...Now I will announce the results, but before that, I will tell you about the scoring system. Between those of us at the Heroes Public Safety Commission and H.U.C, we had a two-fold demerit system we used while watching you. In other words, we were evaluating you on how few mistakes you made in a crisis situation. Anyway, the names of those who passed are listed in syllabary order. Please check the list keeping those words in mind." Mera announced as he gestured to the screen and a list of names was displayed on the screen and everyone was checking to see if they passed.

"Mi...Mi...Mi..." Midoriya's heart was pounding like crazy while trying to find his name as his eyes widened and he was breathless from what he saw. "It's there....! My name's there, All Might!" He screamed in his head as his name was on the board.

"It's there! "Mineta Minoru!" Mineta yelled in joy.

"It's there..." Jiro sighed in relief.

"I see it!" Iida yelled in happiness.

"All right." Shoji nodded.

"Uraraka!" Uraraka yelled her own name in joy.

"Whew..." Sero sighed and slouched in relief.

"Hmph." Tokoyami smirked.

"I'm so glad." Shoji wiped sweat off his head.

"Merci!" Aoyama sparkled.

"It's there!" Sato said in victory.

"Yay!" Mina cheered loudly as Koji looked especially happy.

"Little strokes fell great oaks." Momo said in seeing her name on the board.

"Ribbit..." Tsu hummed happily.

"I did it!" Toru waved her arms happily as everyone could only see her sleeves move.

"Aw, yes!" Kaminari yelled in excitement.

"I'm there! But..." Krisihima trailed off as he looked at an angry Bakugo.

"It's not there!" He yelled in shock.

"Yo...Yoarashi! Yo...! There's nothing after "Yu"..." Inasa said as he lowered his cap down in disappointment of himself. "It's not there after all, huh?" He muttered as Todoroki stared at the screen as well, not seeing his name.

"Onii-chan...?" Everyone heard and turned to see 21 kneeling next to you as you had a look of downcast.

"What's wrong with Y/N...? Didn't he pass?" Jiro asked.

"He passed...I'm sure of it." Momo said surely.

"Look again." Ryu told them while glaring at you.

As they all took another look and searched the board all over for your name, they couldn't find it. All of them were shocked and in jaw-drop to see their top student of the class fail the provisional license. Your other girlfriends tried to walk to you, but you forced yourself out of the wheelchair you were in.

"O-Onii-chan, wait! You're still hurt-Ahh!" 21 gasped as you pushed her slightly away from you. 

As you stumbled to your feet, you dragged your beaten body away as everyone watched you leave.

"Y/N-kun!" Momo yelled.

"Leave him." Ryu said as they stared at him. "I'll deal with him later." Ryu said as he stared at his name and 21's name on the board.

"Todoroki!" They heard as they saw Inasa walking over to them and stand next to Todoroki. "Sorry!" He yelled loudly while smashing his head on the ground and his ass up in the air as he apologized. "It's my fault that you didn't pass. It's because I was too narrow-minded! I'm sorry!" He yelled loudly.

"The path I was on until now as that man's son...It's something I must bear as I aim to become a hero..." Todoroki thought before turning back towards Inasa. "I started it in the first place. Don't worry about it." He said.

"But--!" Inasa cut off in shock.

"There were things I realized thanks to you confronting me directly, too." Todoroki said to him as everyone was staring at him.

"Todoroki...din't pass?" She asked in disbelief.

"Three of our top classmates failed?" Sero asked in shock.

"You should rethink your abusive language. Words are important, you know." Kaminari winked at Bakugo before turning scared as he was glaring at him.

"Shut up. I'll kill you." He growled at Kaminari.

"Because the three of them are highly skilled,  they end up fighting against their own egotism. "The hierarchy's collapsing...!" Mineta said while placing a hand on Todoroki's shoulder and Iida slapped his cheeks together and got him off.

"Todoroki..." Midoriya said in worry of how he felt.

"Y/N..." Momo said in worry of you.

"Um, next we will pass out your results. They will have the breakdown of your scores, so please look over them carefully." Mera said as test officials were handing out results.

"Kirishima." One said while handing over his results.

"Thanks so much!" He replied in gratitude.

"Hand it over..." Bakugo turned rigidly and scarily towards Kirishima.

"That's not how this works." Kirishima said with a sweat drop.

"Kaminari, lemme see!" Toru bugged him.

"Wait a sec, I haven't looked at it yet." He said while trying to read his results.

"The cutoff score was 50 points. We scored based on a demerit system. You can see how many points were taken off for which actions all listed out on the printouts." Mera announced to them.

"61 points...I barely passed..." Ojiro said in shock.

"I got 84! Look, isn't it amazing? I'm kind of good at this, huh?" He boasted.

"Wait, Yao-momo, you got 94 points!?" Jiro said in shock.

"Iida-kun, how'd you do?" Midoriya asked his friend.

"I got 80 points. Overall, I think I had trouble with practical application. What about you, Midoriya-kun?" He asked.

"I got 71 points. I didn't lose points for my actions, but mostly for my conduct before I acted and for standing around  and stuff." He explained while reading his results.

"I'm thankful that they tell us what we need to improve on!" Iida said while pumping his fist up and down.

"Yeah." Midoriya nodded.

"Excuse me, where is Y/N L/N?" A test official asked Ryu as he held out his hand.

"I'll give it to him." Ryu said as the official nodded and hand over the results.

When Ryu looked at the paper, he gritted his teeth and crushed the paper in his hands and turned it into a ball before stuffing it angrily in his jacket.

"What the hell was that idiot thinking!?" Ryu thought in anger as Mera spoke up.

"Um, for those of you who passed, from now on, during emergency situations only, you may exercise authority the same as that of pro heroes. In other words, fighting villains, saving people from criminal acts or accidents--You may act on your own judgement in these cases without the direction of a hero. However, this means that each and everyone of your actions  carries with it the responsibility toward society. I'm sure you all know that the great hero, All Might, has used up all of his power. His existence played a large part in suppressing crime. With that deterrent gone, impudent people will definitely appear. The balance will be destroyed, and as the world changes, you young people will someday become the center of society. Next, you all must become exemplar heroes and become great enough to suppress crime yourselves. This time, all you have received is your provisional license to perform hero activities. I would like you to think of yourselves as fledglings and be even more diligent in your studies at your respective schools. And for those of you who did not pass--There is no time for you to feel dejected that you didn't have enough points. There is still a chance left for you all." Mera announced, shocking those who failed. "After you attend a 3-month-long special course and pass an individual test, we plan to issue a provisional license to you all, as well." He said as those in the crowd of students awed in shock. "In order to deal with this "future" that just spoke of, we need as many good heroes as we can get. The first test was one to weed people out, but we would like to grow the hundred selected in that test as much as possible. That is why we watched all of you until the end. As a result, we saw that it wasn't that you didn't have promise. Rather, once your inadequacies are corrected, all of you have the potential to be even greater than those who passed. I think it will keep you pretty busy doing this concurrently with your studies, and you may also choose to retake the exam in April instead, but--" Mera was cut off by Bakugo.

"Of course!" Bakugo yelled in fury.

"Please!" Inasa begged.

"Isn't this great, Todoroki?" Midoriya asked.

"Stop that. You don't have to take it. Just take it easy. The hierarch--" Iida cut off Mineta again by grabbing his cheeks and lifting him up.

"We're waiting for you." Iida said to him.

"Yeah." Midoriya nodded at Todoroki.

"I'll...catch up soon." Todoroki said to the two of them.

"This means Y/N can get his license soon! Thank goodness!" 21 sighed in relief.

"Speaking of which, where's Y/N's results? Did they give it to one of us to give to him?" Momo asked as your girlfriends went around asking for your results, and Ryu left silently.

Timeskip, Night, Class 1-A Dorms

Everyone was gathered in the communal area to talk about the test and how things went when they were separated. As they were talking, they heard the elevator doors open and turned to see you walk out with a blank expression on your face. You had headphones in and walked towards the kitchen area and opened the fridge as they all stared at you with worry.

"Man, I've never seen him like this..." Kirishima said.

"He's hasn't said anything or left his room since we got back. This is his first time down here." Momo said in worry as she stared at you.

You were cutting up vegetables so you could get ready to make dinner, and as you were, 21 entered the kitchen to help you out.

"I've never seen Onii-chan like this...It's scaring me..." She thought as she stared at you chopping away at lettuce with a downcast expression on your face. 

As the knife you held hit the cutting board, you accidentally knicked your finger and it started to bleed.

"Onii-chan!" 21 gasped as everyone turned towards you and she ran to your side. "Oh...It's a deep cut...Stay here, hold this on it." She said as she pressed a towel against it and you held it while she ran off to get the first-aid kit.

You stood there as you stared at the towel, watching as it soaked up the blood from your finger.

"Pathetic..." 

As 21 came back, she put down and opened the first aid kit as Momo came over to help you and so did Tsu, followed by Jiro and the rest of the girls. As they cared for you and tried to help you, you just kept your head down the whole time. 

"Why do they do so much for you? You can't even get your provisional license. What kind of hero-in-training, who has the power to destroy almost everything, can't get their provisional license? Pathetic..."

As they finished patching you up, they were stood around you and the guys were looking at you, not in jealousy, but because you weren't yourself. You weren't the happy, upbeat person you usually were. 

"I'm sorry...I should have been more careful...I'm sorry..." You said as Momo hugged you.

"It's going to be alright, Y/N. They said you can take the test again, and get your license. It'll be fine, I promise." She said while holding you as you stood there, motionless.

"How pathetic." Everyone heard a voice as they turned and saw Ryu at the elevator with his arms crossed. "Outside." He demanded as he walked off and slammed the door on his way out.

You stared at the door for a minute as Momo released you. You sighed and looked down as you walked out of the dorms and followed Ryu as he led you far from the area.

"Ryu..." You tried to call him as he ignored you and walked on.

After ten minutes, you had been led to a rocky area that was near nothing. Ryu stopped and turned around as he glared at you.

"What happened?" He asked in a demanding tone.

"What do you--" You were cut off.

"What happened at the test? Why did you fail?" He asked in anger as you looked down.

"Because I wasn't strong enough..." You muttered while clenching your fist. "I'm sorry..." You said.

"BULLSHIT!" He yelled in anger as his force blew a small shock wave through the area. "What is the meaning of this, Y/N!?" He yelled at you.

"What are you talking about--" You were cut off once more.

"I'm talking about your pride! You were the only warrior who could match up against me, Ryu! Prince of all the warriors across the world! Yet here you are, moping around after almost being beaten by a stronger opponent. What's going on with you? Have you no pride!?" He yelled at you.

"I'M ANGRY BECAUSE I COULDN'T BEAT HIM ALONE!" You yelled in anger as you transformed. "YOU'RE TALKING TO ME ABOUT PRIDE!? YOU YELLED OUT BACK AT THE TOURNAMENT, NOTHING WAS MORE IMPORTANT TO YOU THAN YOUR PRIDE! YOU NEVER  WANTED TO HELP ME, BUT IN THE END, YOU DID! SO DON'T START WITH ME!" You yelled.

"I helped you because I was blind at first. My pride is one of the things that makes me "me." But I've learned something." Ryu said.

"Oh? And what did you learn?" You asked while glaring at him.

"I learned that sometimes, you have to accept the way things are, and that there was no way to beat that monster alone. I swallowed my pride up, and gave you my power in order for everyone else to live. Yet you mope around, wishing that it was only your own power that you used to defeat him." He said as you were shocked. "Grow up, Y/N! I've learned from my own mistakes! Learn from yours, too! And if you do, you'll grow even stronger! I know there's a deeper power hidden inside of you, and as much as I hate to say it, it's stronger than I could have ever imagined." He said as he teared up and gritted his teeth at you as you were jaw-dropped. "As much as I hate to say it, as much as I would rather die than believe this fact...!" He spat out in fury as his tears fell. "Y-You're....You're...! YOU'RE BETTER THAN ME!" He yelled as he transformed and his power exploded out, as you were shocked to hear those words come out from the self-proclaimed prince of all the warriors.

"Ryu..." YOu muttered as he wiped his tears and glared at you as he remembered your test results.

Flashback

"Excuse me, where is Y/N L/N?" A test official asked Ryu as he held out his hand.

"I'll give it to him." Ryu said as the official nodded and hand over the results.

When Ryu looked at the paper, he gritted his teeth from what he saw. Your test had a perfect 100 score, and it was higher than Ryu's and 21's 97. The paper had also said, 'We're sorry about this, the box that was suppose to show your name malfunctioned, so we hope this helps clear things up. You passed the provisional license test. Congratulations, Y/N L/N.' He crushed the paper in his hands and turned it into a ball before stuffing it angrily in his jacket.

Flashback Over, Play Song At Top

"I'll make him show me this new power if it's the last thing I do...! After that, I too shall have this power! And finally beat Y/N! I swear on it!" Ryu thought in anger. "To think of all people, you'd let this stupid test dictate your future! You're better than that, Y/N!" He yelled at you.

"Where are you going with this? Just answer me already!" You demanded to know.

"Fine then, I'll get to the point. Y/N L/N, I challenge you to a duel to the death!" He yelled while pointing at you and you were shocked.

"Ryu...You really want to do this?" You asked in anger.

"I'll prove that I'm better. And if you beat me, I'll make those people give you another shot at the test." He said as he grinned confidently. "So, Y/N, the table has been set...NOW LET US BEGIN!" He yelled as he got ready to fight you.

"Where are they?" Kirishima asked as they were sneaking their way towards you, and everyone in your class except for Midoriya and Bakugo, who went somewhere else, had followed you two in secret and stared from behind a set of rocks at as you and Ryu stood off.

"Are they fighting?" Sato asked.

"If they go all out, they might destroy everything..." Momo said in worry.

"If we're caught in this, we might get blasted though..." 21 said as she held everyone back.

"So what do we do?" Sero asked as 21 watched you.

"...We wait, and see what they'll do..." She said as they heard you speak up.

"If it's all right with you, let's just skip the warm up." You said to him.

"By all means, I just hope after that intense battle hasn't made your body fragile." He taunted as you as you got mad and powered up.

"Grrr...!!!! HYYYYYYYYAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!"  

"Well, at least your stronger than the last time from the sports festival. Grr...! RRRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHH!!!!!!!!"

You were surprised by his increase of power as it was completely even with yours.

"Show me your hidden power, Y/N! Show me what you discovered during our training from the training camp!" Ryu thought while glaring at you.

"Wow, Ryu, this might take longer than I thought." You said.

"YOU SEE!? THIS IS OUR FATE! OUR BATTLE! HAHAHAHA!!!!!!" He laughed as the two of you stood off.

After this rough day of seeing you down in the dumps, the one thing they didn't ever want to happen again was happening in front of them. As it has been decided, against the wishes of your friends, Y/N and Ryu have marked off their battlefield, and these two incredibly powerful warriors of their quirk types will embark in the ultimate fight. Next time, on "The Symbol of Hope."
