The flight was booked for the girls. They would be arriving about two hours after we landed. Which was pretty good timing if you ask me. I resumed my coloring with Maria and completely blocked out the rest of the world. Hm, maybe I should take up coloring when I'm at home it's a pretty good distraction. Or not, because 15minutes later I was already bored. Curse my short attention span!
I had no idea how I was going to survive this flight. There was still at least 8 more hours to go. That was like torture for me. I was never a fan of flying and having to be stuck on a plane for hours didn't really sit well with me. Glancing over at Maria again I found her fast asleep; curled into the seat hugging her stuffed bunny tight to her chest. She's had that thing since she was born. I had got it for her when I went with my dad to see her in the hospital the day my mother gave birth to her.
Those were the happier times in my life. My mother was different back then. Well, at least that's what I thought. Or, maybe I had just finally seen her for who she really was as I got older. It didn't matter now though. In a few short months I wouldn't be living under the same roof as she was and in a way I so happy about that. I know it sounds awful of me, but, you don't have to live with the woman.
Some sleep would do me good. At least than my mind would be at ease if even for just a few hours. I reclined the seat back and made myself comfortable after putting away all of Maria's thing's. It wasn't a bed but the seat was comfortable none the less. My mind raced with different thoughts as I tried my hardest to get to sleep. Guess my mind didn't want to sleep as much as I did. It took me a good two hours till I finally succumbed to sleep.
Someone was shaking me. I did not like it at all. Couldn't they see that I was sleeping? I groaned and swatted the hand away. I just wanted to be left in peace, is that too much to ask? Obviously it would have been since whoever this wretched person was refused to leave me alone.
"Come on, Mallory!" a husky voiced groaned "Wake up already."
"Leave me alone." I mumbled
"You need to get up, now." he said still shaking me he grabbed my wrist and my reaction came in the form of a punch. My fist connected with something. "Shit!" he hissed
I opened my eyes to see Xavier slumped on the floor holding his jaw. My eyes widened and my jaw fell open. "I am so sorry." I grimaced
"Did you have to hit me?" he questioned
"Knee jerk reaction." I shrugged biting my lip "Sorry. Someone should have told you that I don't take kindly to people trying to wake me up. I didn't mean to do, honest."
"It's fine." he hissed "We here, so let's go."
He stalked off the plane and to the waiting car. I didn't see my parents or his any where in sight. It seemed like my parents weren't the only one who weren't very patient. I clutched my purse to my shoulder and walked to the car. Or well, limo--again. Did anyone ever use a regular car now days? Maybe even a taxi or something. Sliding into the limo I watched as Xavier winced as he placed an ice pack to his swelling jaw.
"I really am sorry." I said; he just waved me off.
"You've got a pretty good arm." he noted
"I take classes." I said
"I can tell." he winced
During the drive from the air strip I stared out the window into the darkness. I didn't understand why we couldn't come during the day. What's the point of flying somewhere, where it's already night and you'd be sleeping when you got settled? That didn't make sense to me at all. I leaned my head against the cool glass wondering what would happen this weekend. As long as I didn't get stuck with my mother for longer than necessary I'd be fine. That's where my friends came in. At least with them I could do what ever the heck I wanted. Which I would've done anyway, but, now I wouldn't have to do it alone.
Before long we were pulling up to where we would be staying. Our families had reserved three bungalows. Why three you ask? One for my parents and sister, The Chase's and last but not least one for Xavier and I. All thank's to my mother, she really was a piece of work, huh. It's a good thing I reserved another for when the girls got here. I was definitely staying with them. Who know's what might happen if I stay with Xavier. I highly doubt we'd both make it out of this trip alive. When I was sure everyone was out of ear shot I got the key to my bungalow.
"You all have a good night!" I called out walking to the bungalow next to Xavier's.
"This is ours," he said "Where are you going?"
"We both know there is no way we'd be able to stay in the same bungalow together."I replied "So to save us from killing each other I got my own. Well, for me and my friends."
"What friends?" my mother asked narrowing her eyes at me.
"Those friend's!" I said pointing to where I saw Corrie and Elena walking. They got here faster than I thought they would.
"This is supposed to be family vacation!" she hissed
"Yes, well, the Chase's are with us. Since we aren't all family yet I decided to invite my friends along." I said "It isn't a problem, its it daddy?"
"Oh course not sweetheart!" he sighed "We'll see you all in the morning. Goodnight!"
The Chase's walked into their room as my mother followed my dad not willingly I might add. Xavier just stood there staring at my with an eyebrow raised.
"What?" I asked
"If I knew you were going to pull one like this, I would've done the same." he said
"Yes, but, bringing hookers along for the ride isn't something I'd recommend." I said walking to meet the girls "You guys got here fast." I said pulling them into a group hug.
"Elena and I were together at her place and you know how we always have clothes at each others houses. So we just packed up from there, I stopped to let my parents know and of course they weren't home so I left a note. Then we went straight to the airport. The jet was ready and waiting when we got there." Corrie said in a rush. I don't think she even took a breath as she spoke.
"Come on, I'll show you where we're staying." I said walking along.
"Oh my, Elly, look that's him." Corrie whispered from behind me.
"Yeah, Cor, I know. Will you just relax and breath." she hissed
"I am breathing!" she stated
"No, you're panting." Elena pointed out.
"Girls this is Xavier, my fiance for all intents and purposes." I said coming to a stop next to Xavier. "Xavier these are Elena and Corrie." I said pointing them out
"Nice to meet you." Elena smiled holding out her hand
"It's nice to meet you too." he said taking it and placing a kiss to her knuckles; I scoffed and rolled my eyes. "Is something wrong, sweetheart?"
"Laying it on pretty think aren't you?" I asked "And don't call my sweetheart."
He rolled his eyes and looked at Corrie who looked starstruck. "It's a pleasure to meet you, as well." he said taking her hand.
Just as he was about to kiss it Elena stopped him. "You might not want to do that, I think she's already on the verge of fainting." she said
"Let's get her into the room." I suggested; Corrie didn't even bat an eyelash as we pulled her into our bungalow. I turned back to look at Xavier. "Goodnight Xavier."
"Goodnight, Mallory."
The girls and I didn't do much talking as we got settled. There wasn't really much to talk about or so I thought. But, before we all went to bed the girls gave me a look that said we'd talk tomorrow. I wasn't exactly looking forward to having whatever conversation they wanted to have. I changed into a my pj's and laid down in bed. A million thoughts were running ramped through my mind. I had been wondering since I met Xavier why he had been pulled into this arranged marriage. I didn't know all that much about him or his family. With that thought in mind I drifted off into a dreamless sleep.
The morning sun peeked through the slit in the curtains shinning directly into my eyes. Pulling the sheets over my head and rolled onto my stomach. I wasn't ready to get up just yet. Obviously my friends thought differently.
"Get up you lazy bum!" Corrie shouted jumping onto my bed.
"Yeah, get up!" Elena exclaimed
"Go away, I'm sleeping." I groaned
"We're in Bora-Bora, you can sleep when you're dead." Corrie stated
"The sun is shinning." Elena said whipping open the blinds "The water is crystal clear, hot guys wandering the beach, let's go!"
"I'm getting married remember?" I questioned "Hot guy's on the beach are a bit out of my reach."
"You're getting married not joining a convent. There is no harm in looking." Elena said
"The two of you wont leave me alone, will you?" I asked peeking out from under the sheets. They both shook their heads 'no'. "Fine!" I said crawling out of bed. "I'll go change, we can go eat breakfast and than do whatever it is you all have planned."
After taking the quickest shower of my life because my two 'friends' wouldn't stop pounding on the door telling me to hurry it up; I got dressed in a black and pink halter and boy shorts bikini, pulling on a denim mini and cropped off the shoulder white top. I walked out of the bathroom putting my hair into a ponytail. I let the girls know I was almost ready. I put on a pair of black flip flops and my favorite pair of over sized Chanel sunglasses. Picking up a towel on the way out of my room.
"Okay, I'm ready." I sighed "You two happy now?"
"Yes." Elena nodded
"You have you're bikini on right?" Corrie asked
"Of course." I replied rolling my eyes. Only she would ask that kind of question when the straps for my top were clearly showing. Crazy girl.
On the way out I wasn't paying any attention to where I was going. I was too busy making sure I had everything I needed in my bag while the girls were behind me talking about what we should do after breakfast. After opening the door I swear I walked into a wall. A very warm wall with...quick hands? Now that's just stupid! Taking a step back I looked up to see Xavier looking down at me with a raised eyebrow and a smirk on his gorgeous face. What he is gorgeous!
"Couldn't wait to be in my arm, huh?"
"In your dreams." I said stepping around him.
"Every night." he whispered seductively in my ears.
"You really, need to get over yourself. Not every girl will fall at your feet." I said walking away "I'm one of those girls." I called over my shoulder.
The girls caught up to me quickly giggling away. I really did not see what his appeal was. So what he was rich and very good looking, what's so good about that? Maybe I'm biased since my family was pretty wealthy. But, I really don't see what the big deal is. I think I need therapy, thinking this much about a man I barely know cannot be healthy!
