Comparing to that of...
"Corrine! Get down here and help your sister with her math!!" My mom called. I sighed. There's always something in this house to ruin a perfect moment.
"Coming!" I called back. I looked to Draco. "Want to come? It may be a while before we can resume... That..." I whispered. Draco nodded.
"Celest! Come on!" Kattie called. I ran over to the door and opened it.
"I'm coming Lu, give me a sec!" I shouted back. I sighed and rushed to get my dusty calculator, a pencil, and a spiral notebook.
"Celest?" Draco asked, getting up off my bed and following me out the door.
"My nickname from Kattie" I explained, walking down the stairs.
"Why?" He asked.
"Kattie, as a little girl, could never pronounce my name correctly. She watched a lot of this T.V. Show where one of the princesses names was Celestia, thus she called me Celest, instead of Corrine. And since she gave me a nick name I wanted to give her one. I asked my Dad what I should call her since Kattie called me Celest. Dad said Celestia was a Greek term for sun, so he told me to call Kattie, Luna, because it's a Greek term for moon. That was also coincidentally the name of second princess, who was the younger sister in the T.V. Show. Thus began the rise of Celest and Lu." I explained, walking to the table where Kattie's supplies was laid out. Draco nodded. I sat down, and Draco sat next to me. I pulled out my nonprescription glasses and opened to a fresh piece of paper in my spiral notebook. "Alright, Luna, what do we have today?" I asked.
"Order of Operations" Kattie replied. I nodded.
"Don't worry, I used to suck at these too. The trick is P.E.M.D.A.S" I stated.
"P.E.M.D.A.S?" Kattie asked. I gasped dramatically.
"You don't know P.E.M.D.A.S? As in Please Excuse My Dear Aunt Sally? As in Parentheses, Exponents, Multiplication, Division, Addition, Subtraction?!" I asked. Kattie looked at me, completely baffled.
"What?" She asked.
"Watch. So the problem is 6(3+4) - 7(5-2) right?" I asked.
"Yeah" Kattie replied.
"In order of operations, you are supposed to do parentheses first. 3+4 is?" I asked.
"7" Kattie announced.
"Good. That's the answer to the first parentheses. Now. 5-2 is?"
"3" Kattie replied.
"Right again! Now, you multiply. 6x7 is?" I asked.
"42" Kattie replied.
"Correct. 3x7 is?" I asked.
"21" she replied.
"Good! Now is the last part. It's really easy. What is 42 - 21?" I asked.
"21" Kattie replied.
"That's your answer." I stated. Kattie looked at her paper. Then she looked in the back of the book.
"How'd you do that?" She asked.
"By following Order of Operations, you solve the parentheses first, then exponents, you'll probably get to those later, then solve what ever comes first, multiplication or division, then finally solve what eve comes first, addition or subtraction. Bada-Bing, Bada-Boom, there's the answer, clear as a crystal. You try by yourself" I stated, passing her my pencil. I took off my glasses and looked to Draco.
"So. You can do math." Draco announced.
"Yup. All the way up to college level calculus." I responded, looking over Kattie's work to see if she was doing it right. "Remember that multiplication and division always come before addition and subtraction." I added. Kattie nodded and erased some of her work then redid it. Soon Kattie finished.
"Thanks Celestia!" Kattie announced, running off to show mom she finished.
"Anytime, Luna! Don't forget P.E.M.D.A.S!" I shouted in response. Then I shook my head. "7th graders" I sighed. I got up from the table and headed outside. Draco followed after me. I pulled open the sliding glass door and closed it behind Draco. I then proceeded to climb onto the roof.
"What's out here?" Draco asked. I climbed on the trash bin and pulled myself onto the roof. Draco did the same. I settled and looked out at the stars.
"My favorite chill place" I commented. "You know you're the first to come up here with me" I stated. Draco shrugged.
"You're more beautiful then all the twinkling stars in the night" Draco announced. I widened my eyes.
"There's a lot of stars out there, Draco"
"The amount of stars out there is an understatement, compared to your beauty." Draco re-iterated. I shook my head.
"You're crazy, Draco"
"You're Gorgeous, Corrine"
