Clark slid the letter through the mail slot on Johanna's front door. It took him about an hour and a half to write the letter. He wrote it, then read it again to make sure it was okay, and then tried to edit it the best he could. He wished that maybe now she wouldn't be so mad at him after.

The next day at school during the afternoon, Johanna came to Clark. She didn't have the same sunshine on her face as she usually did when she saw him.  "I got your letter." She told.

"You read it?" Clark asked, hoping she did.

"Yeah." She replied. "I read it."

"So...?"

"Clark," she sighed then shook her head. "I- I know you're trying to make it up to me but... I just need some time alone. I feel like what you said was meant to tell me that what I felt like what I felt was wrong. I just don't want to talk. I need to think."

"Think? About what?" Clark asked, his voice a little harsh. "Never mind," he shook his head, "I just need to know... Are you still mad at me?"

Johanna bit her lip then adjusted the books and notebooks she was holding. "I guess so. I d-don't really know quite yet. That's what I'm thinking about."

"Just, please, let me know when you're not mad." Clark sighed. "I want to be friends still. You're a great person, and I hate seeing you mad. Especially mad at me."

Johanna started walking away. When she was halfway down the hallway, she shouted to Clark, "I'll text you when I decide I'm not mad." She gave him a small smile then left him to walk alone to class.

It didn't seem like she was as mad at him now; so maybe the letter did help.
