Alex POV

The quick walk to the cafeteria was quiet, and I was starting to grow nervous as I thought of how everyone would be staring at us when we walked in. Suddenly, I felt a wave of calm rush over me, and I saw Jasper smile at me.

I gave him a small one back as we stopped in front of the cafeteria doors. He looked at me and when I nodded, he opened them.

At first, no one seemed to notice us as we went to get our trays, Jasper paying for mine as well, no matter how much I protested, and made our way to his table.

It was going good until I heard someone squeal and I moved my tray just in time for Alice to hug me. This made the room grow quiet as everyone started looking at us.

I laughed, “Hi, Alice. Good to see you too.”

SHe pulled back, “Sorry, I'm just so excited you are going to eat with us! Come on!” She grabbed my hand and pulled me over to the table where I saw Rosalie and Emmett sitting close together with Edward to the side, alone.

Alice sat by Edward, in the middle, leaving two seats on the end for Jasper and I.

Jasper went in front of me and grabbed my tray, setting it down beside Edward, before pulling out my chair and sitting in his.

I rolled my eyes at this, “Thanks,”
As I sat down, I noticed how quiet it had gotten, and when I looked around, I saw that pretty much ever person in the room was looking at us, or me.

I looked down at my plate as I felt my face heat up, ‘I might be talkative and outgoing when there's a few people, but a whole cafeteria? No thanks.’

I felt another wave of calm fall over me as Jasper grabbed my hand and smiled at me. I smile back and after a moment, he turns toward the rest of the room and glares.
For some reason, they all look away and it's like they forgot I was even there as they began talking again, ‘weird’.

The rest of lunch was uneventful as I ate and talked with the Cullen’s. I noticed that they didn't eat anything on their trays, ‘curious’.

When lunch was over, I said goodbye to Jasper before Alice pulled me off to geometry.

The rest of the day passed fairly quick, and before I knew it, Bella and I were standing beside her truck in the lot, talking and listening to music.

I sigh and roll my eyes as Bella, yet again, looks over at Edward, “Bella. Bells, Belle.” I put my hands on her shoulders, “I know you think he's hot, but you can't just keep sta-” before I could finish, there was a high pitched screech.

I quickly turn around to see Tyler’s van skidding on the ice toward us. For a moment, its as if time had slowed to a crawl as my eyes met Jasper’s panicked ones across the lot.
I see him and Edward start moving, surprisingly fast, but I didn't think about it as I turned towards Bella and pushed her out of the way.

As she fell, everything started to speed up again. I could see Jasper ahead of Edward, racing towards me, but I knew he wouldn't be fast enough as I looked at the van now fifteen feet in front of me.

I could see in his eyes that he was scared. Sound was slowly coming back again as I could hear Bella screaming at me as I dropped to the ground under the truck, “ALEX! ALEXANDER!”

By the time I was under the truck, everything was full speed again and I closed my eyes, bracing myself for the impact, but instead I felt cold hands pull me from under the truck as it hit. 

I blinked and we were standing beside Bella, and I could see a dent in the door of the van where I was once laying. I looked at the person holding me and saw the frantic, panicking eyes of Jasper.

“Alex, Alex? Are you okay? It’s gonna be ok.” All I could do was nod, as I was still in shock, and I felt very dizzy.

A girl ran toward us, “I have 911 on the phone, they’re on their way!”

I started to lean more heavily on Jasper as a wave of dizziness swept over me, making me feel nauseous as the world spun around me. Jasper tightened his grip as he slowly pulled my down in his lap on the ground, “Its gonna be ok, just hold on, doll.”

I leaned my head back onto Jasper’s chest, closing my eyes.  ‘I'm starting to feel very tired, i'm just going to rest my eyes for a few minutes’ 

I could faintly hear Edwards voice as I started to drift off, “Jas, don't let him go to sleep, he could have a concussion.”
Jasper tried to shake me awake, but I was too far gone for him to get me up. 

The last thing I heard before I went unconscious were the sirens from the ambulance.

As I woke up, the first thing I noticed were the voices; dad, Bella, and one I did not know.

“He seems to have a slight concussion, which is very good considering the circumstances, and he has no physical injuries. It seems he passed out from shock. So as soon as he wakes up and we do one more check, he’ll be good to go.” 

“Thank you so much, Dr. Cullen.” 

‘Dr. Cullen? Like Alice and Jasper’s adoptive father?’

“Of course, it was great meeting you, Isabella.”

I snorted softly from where I lay, slowly opening my eyes to see Bella, my dad, and a blond man who must be Dr. Cullen, “Its just Bella, she hates her full name.”

Bella rolled her eyes fondly, “must run in the family then, Alex.”

She then rushed over and gave me a hug as I sat up, “You scared me, Lex. I saw you push me out of the way and then you went to the ground as the van hit, I thought you were dead.” 

She started crying on my shoulder, and I hugged her tighter, “Well, I'm ok now. I'M just glad I got you out of the way in time.”

Dr. Cullen then walked up to me, “If you don't mind Id like to do one last thing before you are discharged,” I nodded and he pulled out a small flashlight, shining it in both my eyes, “well, everything looks good. Lets go get you discharged shall we?”

I smiled as he walked away with dad following, before stopping at the door, “YOu two might want to, uh, call your mom.”

Bella and I groaned simultaneously, “You told her?” Bella asked and dad just walked out the door, “She’s probably going to be just freaking out.”

SHe grabbed her phone as we made it into the hallway and dad walked over the the desk.

As we go around the corner, we see Edward, Jasper, Rosalie, and Dr. Cullen having a heated discussion. When they notice us, Rosalie gives me little smile before walking off with her father, while Edward and Jasper make their way to us.

When they reached us, Jasper pulled me to the side, away from our siblings, “How are you feeling?”

I gave him a small smile and shrugged, “I've got a headache, but its not too bad.” there's a moment of silence between us, “thank you, by the way.”

He raises one of his eyebrows at me, “For what?”

I roll my eyes, “Oh, I don't know, saving my life? If you hadnt gotten to me when you did I would be dead. I actually have no idea how you guys reached us in time though. I mean, I saw you both running towards us as the van came, but you were way over by your car-”

“What do you mean, you ‘saw us running’?” 

“I don't know? I mean as the van came, everything like, slowed down? But then I saw you and Edward running towards us, moving faster than anything else.” I scoffed and sighed, “that made no sense whatsoever.”

Jasper was now looking at me like I was a puzzle, one he didn't know how to put together right.
After a moment of him staring at me, I cleared my throat and he snapped out of it.

He grabbed my hand, quickly pulling me along, “Come with me.”
