Alex POV:

I sigh as I zip up the last suitcase and look around my room.
This was the room I had spent almost all of my childhood in. Most of my memories were made here, most of my life. After taking one last look at the bare furniture around me, I grabbed my bags and suitcase and headed downstairs to the car. I gave my bags to Phil as I looked for Bella.

I found her standing at the edge of the road, where the pavement meets the desert, holding a little cactus plant.
I put my arm around her shoulder, “Gonna miss it Bells?” She nodded, not looking at me, “Yeah, but mom’s gonna be happier, so that's all that matters.”
I squeezed her shoulder as Phil yelled, “Guys c’mon. Bella, Alexander! I love you all, but we gotta plane to catch.”
We both stayed for a few more seconds, taking in one last view of home before we walked back to the car.

The ride to the airport was quiet, but as soon as we got out and to the terminal, mom was in tears. She gave us both a big hug, and made us promise to call her. “Take care of each other.” I looked over at Phil as he put his hand on my shoulder.

“Of course.” I smiled, and held Bella’s hand as we boarded the plane, only letting go once we finally found our seats. I settled into my seat, ready for the long flight, and fell asleep as the plane took off.

I awoke hours later from Bella shaking my shoulder. We both got up and grabbed our overhead bags when the plane stopped and got off to find our luggage.
We walked to the door looking for our dad, to find him standing outside of his cruiser.

Charlie was the Police Chief of Forks, which is good in some aspects and bad in others. For example, neither Bella or I wanted to be seen in the cruiser, so we needed to start looking for a car very soon.

As soon as he saw us, he smiled and grabbed Bella’s luggage from her and after a few awkward greetings, we all got in the car.
Dad and Bella in front, me in back.
Dad tried talking to Bella, but her being her awkward, introverted self, she made it weird and so most of the ride was spent in silence as I looked out the window, watching the scenery as we drove to Forks, Washington.

When we got home, Charlie helped us get our luggage to our rooms, Bella’s was on the second floor, while mine was in the attic. It was in a lot better shape than you would imagine, and that was why I chose it, also because it is a little bigger than Bella’s, and the older siblings always get first pick.
“I cleared some shelves off in the bathroom for you two.”
I nodded at dad as he helped Bella pull her suitcases up.
“Right, only one bathroom.”
We both followed Charlie into what used to be both mine and Bella’s room when we were younger, “I hope you like purple, the sales lady picked it out.”
Bella nodded as she set her little cactus on her desk in the corner, “Purples cool.”
Dad then looked at me, “Do you need any help son?”
I shook my head, “No I’m all good.” He nodded, “Ok, well then, I’ll just let you two unpack.”
He quickly walked out of the room and downstairs, that was the best part about Charlie, he didn't hover.

After making sure Bella was ok, I made my way up to the attic and looked around.
There was a bed against one wall, and opposite was a desk with a lamp for schoolwork.
By the desk were bookshelves, a closet, and a dresser. I pulled out my suitcases and put all of my clothes away, either folded in the dresser or hanging in the closet. By the time I had begun to bring all my other stuff out of bags and to put it away, I heard cars pulling up. I looked out the window by my bed and saw a faded orange truck, and an old red mustang parked in the driveway, as well as a black truck pulling up behind it.

I met up with Bella at the stairs and we made our way outside. We are introduced to Billy and Jacob Black.
Charlie and Billy then start fighting in the middle of the road.
“We used to make mud pies together when we were little.” Jake smiles at Bella, and I can tell its a little more than friendly, which I dont like.
“No, yeah, I remember.” She smiles awkwardly at Jake. I know she doesn't actually remember, but I keep quiet.
“Are they always like this?” I question, he laughs, “It gets worse with old age.”

He was about to say more, but Dad interrupted,
“What do you think?” I tilted my head at Charlie, “About what?”
He smiled, “Your homecoming presents.”
Bella looks at the beat up truck in front of us, “This, are you serious?”
“Just bought it off Billy here,” he pats the man in a wheelchair on the shoulder, “and I totally rebuilt the engine.” I look at Jake as Bella excitedly rushes over to the driver side door, and I can't help but laugh when she accidentally slams it into Jake as he walks by.

Charlie comes and puts an arm on my shoulder and points behind the truck to the red mustang behind Bella’s new truck, “That’s for you.”
I gape at him, “Are you serious?” I repeat what my twin said earlier as I walk over and run my hand on the hood, “its awesome, thanks dad.”
He smiles, “No problem, Billy helped me get a great price for it, since I know how much you like old cars.”

I open up the door and get inside, running my hands all over the interior and checking everything out. By the time I'm done, Bells and Jake are out of the truck and standing in front of Billy and Charlie, talking. Once Billy and Jake leave, Dad decides to take us to the old diner to celebrate coming to Forks.

When we arrived, Bella and I ordered salads and Charlie ordered steak.
The nice waitress talks about how we used to come a lot before we left, and how she would get us some berry cobbler, our favorite.
As she's about to leave, a middle-aged man appears, “Hey! Do you two remember me? I played Santa, one year.”
Charlie rolls his eyes, “Wayland, they haven't had a christmas here since they were four.”
“But i bet I made an impression though, huh?” he smiles and winks at us, as him and the waitress start arguing.

The rest of dinner was mostly silent, Charlie asking a few questions here and there about Phoenix and mom and Phil. We gave short answers and not that much later, we are all heading back home. I can already tell that it is going to be raining tonight and tomorrow. And I couldn't decide how I felt about the weather, yes it was cold and wet, but in some ways, that was better than hot and dry.

Once we got home, Bella and I headed up to her room to talk to mom.
So how was the first day in Forks?”

Bella sighed, I knew she didn't want to be here. She hated the cold, but wanted mom happy, “It was great. Dad’s been fun, we went out to eat. And he got us a car. Each.”

I could hear mom laugh over the phone, “Of course he did, I should’ve expected that. Alex? How have you been?”
I smile, “Good, still haven't decided how I feel about the weather, but other than that, great.”
“Thats good,” We could hear someone else talking in the background, “Oh, I'm sorry, I have to go, Phil needs help. But remember, call me everyday, tell me about everything, especially the boys,” I could hear her smirk through the phone, “that goes for both of you, and be safe. I love you.”
“Love you too.”
“Yeah, love you too mom.” Bella and I reply at the same time, laughing. We say goodbye and hang up.

“Goodnight Isabella, I’ll see you in the morning.”
I give her head a kiss, “Goodnight Alexander.” I smiled and went to my room. I grabbed a book and laid down on my bed, reading until I fell asleep.
