When Lily found Sarah, the team leader was still wearing her mission suit. Sarah was sitting against the wall of her bunk, she had her father's shield propped up against the wall opposite her. She was staring at it as though it was the most fascinating thing in the world, her face was a mixture of guilt and depression. Sighing, Sarah put her head in her hands, she still hadn't realized that Lily was standing in her room. "Dad, I'm sorry. I failed. It was my first time leading the team without Lily, and I almost got Dean killed. I don't deserve to carry your shield, and as hard I've tried, I'll never be you. People see me, and they think I'm you, but I'm not. And I'll never be."

 Lily felt  sorry for Sarah. Being the only child of Captain America, Sarah had a lot to live up to. For the most part, she had done well. Sarah had inherited a strong sense of moral right from her father, as well as his unwavering loyalty and his stubbornness. But Sarah was constantly doubting herself, and Lily had known that Sarah sometimes didn't feel worthy to be 'Captain America'. But Lily hadn't known how incredibly depressed Sarah was, Sarah Rogers was very good at hiding her emotions. Perhaps, Lily thought, she had confided in Mila, and that was why Mila had been so worried. 

  Knocking softly on the wall, Lily walked into Sarah's view, "Hey Sarah. Everything Okay?"

"Yes Ma'am. Thank you."

Ugh. Ma'am. Steve and Bucky's kids were so polite. It sometimes drove Lily mad. 

"It's Lily."

"Sorry."

"You look upset. Want to talk?"

 Sarah took a shaky breath and said, "I don't think you should have me lead any more missions."

Lily was shocked, "Why?"

"Because I almost got Dean killed. When he was shot I froze up, Mila got everyone organized. You should let her lead."

"No Sarah, Mila's a good combat agent, but she isn't a leader. You are. Sometimes you mess up, you don't think your Dad ever made mistakes?"

"He didn't freeze up when his team needed him."

"Steve's best friend, Bucky Barnes, you know, Sam and Dean's dad. He fell off a train while on mission with your Dad. Steve thought he'd been killed, and it was all his fault. But your Dad didn't give up, and he wouldn't want you to either," with that, Lily stood and left the bunk.

 Looking back, she saw Sarah running her hand across the shield's smooth surface.
