That night Lily decided to do a bunk check, it was something she did once a month or so, when she got anxious about the young members of her team. She walked through the trainee bunks, everyone was sleeping soundly.

  Then she entered the sections where the Avenger's slept. Directly on her right were the bunks of Sarah Rogers and Mila Barnes. Sarah slept straight as a rod, and laying on her side, barely moving. It reminded Lily that Sarah had joined the army the day she'd turned 18 and served until she was 19, which is when she'd gone on to become the next Captain America. Mila slept on her back, with her right arm above her head. Mila had been trained in the red room, where the girls had been handcuffed to their beds, so Mila always slept with one hand above her head. Ambrevina Parker and Astra Oborne had adjoining bunks, and they always slept facing each other. That way if one of them woke up in the middle of the night and remembered an amazing joke, they could easily tell to it the other. 

   Lila Barton often didn't sleep in her bunk at all, and when she did, she slept sitting up. Lila liked to sleep perched on top of the fridge, on the stairs, in front of Liam's lab, anywhere that would provide the best position to scare the ever-loving-crap out of Liam Stark when he went into the kitchen to grab a beer a 3 am. Lila had also learned to sleep with her eyes open, and many newcomers to the compound could be heard screaming their first night when they encountered Lila Barton perched on top of one of the bathroom stalls. Dean slept with his arms and legs splayed out like a starfish, often rolling out of bed and onto the floor. Sam with a pillow on his head, trying to block out Dean's snores.

  Next Lily checked on the banner twins, Bella and Adam. Adam normally slept at his desk, often with his head resting on a book. Bella slept with her upper body hanging out of her bunk. They were both sound asleep. Hela and Torran had their own room, simply because the asguardians had some strange sleeping habits. Torran would sleep anywhere in her room, and naked. This has caused quite a lot of problems in the compound before Lily had given Hela and Toran their own rooms. Hela slept curled up like a cat, often with a hand clutching a knife under the pillow.

  As Lily walked back towards her own bunk, she stopped to check on Sarah once last time and make sure she was still asleep. But Sarah's bunk was empty, and when Lily pulled her closet open, she found that Sarah's shield and uniform were gone as well. Sarah was gone!
