Cassidy's POV

"And now to work out the formula of the volume of a sphere...." Mrs Andrews droned on about God knows what. I was so bored that I had begun to make my pencils levitate slightly. Luckily the room was dark and I sat by myself so no one could see me. Max was still in my bag and I could hear his small breaths. My guess was that he was taking a nap. But there was something wrong. I had a feeling. Not the same feeling of boredom that I always got at school. This was of uneasiness. It was as if I felt someone watching me. Slowly I began to look round but everyone was paying attention to the teacher. I couldn't see anyone until I looked out of the window. In one moment I saw a man wearing a pair of black sunglasses and a black coat. An arachnia? Fear filled me up as my mind thought of all the possibilities. If this was an arachnia then they'd found me. I was dead. They never travelled alone. There were scouts, soldiers, generals, and finally the leader. I have no idea who their leader is but there were folk songs and tales of his destruction and the people he'd killed. The man looked at me and I froze. A moment passed and he disappeared. What do I do? Quickly I came up with an idea. If they'd found me then I needed to get out of here. These creatures would not hesitate to kill everyone here. To save these innocent humans I needed to leave. "Mrs Andrews please can I be excused?" I asked raising my hand. She nodded and I got up with my bag and walked out of the classroom. As soon as I was out of the room I turned invisible and started to run down the corridors and out of the school.
It was silent outside except for the sound of leaves rustling. A small breeze came by and the sun was beating down. "Max out boy." I commanded and my loyal demon jumped out of my bag. "Ok now grow." I said and he went back to his normal size of a terrier. His fur stuck up as Max began to growl. "What's wrong boy?" I asked taking off my pendant. The sword formed in my hand and I held it steadily. Suddenly I heard light footsteps. "Who's there?" I yelled angrily. From the shadows stepped out the same man from earlier. Max growled louder. "Who are you?" I asked shakily holding my sword in both hands. He grinned. "Oh you know who I am Drazari." He said stepping forward. I gasped. Drazari. No one used that term anymore. It was the name of my people. Our race. "Stay back!" I yelled angrily.
"Now I'm going to kill you and you aren't going to be any hassle." He ordered bringing out two guns. But these weren't ordinary mundane weapons. The Arachnia weren't all gifted with powers, only few, whereas my race were all given powers. Instead they had advanced technology and weapons. These ones looked especially menacing as they were the same size as machine guns. "I won't go down without a fight you filthy creature." I screamed before charging at him. What happened next all went by in a blur. Something took over. An instinct that had been buried deep. The instinct to fight.

Unknowns POV

The girl had walked into a classroom and from a spot in the trees I observed her carefully. Suddenly she turned around to look out of the window and her face paled. I followed her gaze to see a man dressed in black staring at her. And before I could move he disappeared. Damn it they'd found us. I didn't think the arachnids would have found me this quickly. Well looks like I need to get into action. I looked back at the classroom to see the girl gone. Crap now I needed to find her. Looking round I flew over the school watching for her. Out of the corner of my eye I spotted some brown and coming out of the main entrance was the girl. And suddenly she disappeared. As in she was right there but she vanished. Invisibility. Neat, at least she could use her powers and won't be totally useless. Suddenly a small dog jumped out nowhere. I'm guessing this was her demon. Then I noticed how unnerved the dog was. He was growling and showed signs of unease. I looked around and out of the shadows stood the same man. Crap. The girl then came out of hiding and stood with a sword in her hands. She looked scared and I guessed this was the first time she'd seen an arachnia. Well this isn't even their true from. The real things are so horribly gruesome it could make the strongest soldiers cry and run home for mummy. I waited behind a tree watching what was infolding. Waiting for the right time to make my move.

Cassidy's POV

I lunged at him swinging my sword in an arc. he dodged but I managed to clip his shoulder. "Why you little brat that's it I'm going to kill you long and painfully." He growled shooting at me. I stopped the bullets in midair and sent them back at him. He dodged and came straight at me. I didn't know what to do and he sent me flying backwards into a wall. All the air was knocked out of me and blood poured out of a long gash on my arm. Slowly I crumpled to the ground as the monster approached me. He brought his fist into my stomach and blood came flying up my throat. I spluttered and coughed. "You're a bastard. You killed everything I had. You're kind took it all." I screamed. Big mistake. His face turned red and in anger he pointed the gun at my temple and let go of the trigger. In instinct I put my arms over my head. I braced myself for the excruciating pain of death. The feeling of being lost into the dark abyss. But nothing happened. Slowly I opened my eyes to see Max standing in front of me. Except he was now three metres tall with scales and a body like a lions. Right on the side of his shoulder was a big bullet hole. The gash had to be five centimetres wide and blood spilled down his arm. "Max!" I cried running towards him. He looked in pain but licked my face as I rushed to him. Quickly I teared a piece of fabric off my shirt and began to bandage the bullet hole. Concentrating hard on making the bleeding stop I didn't notice the sword coming right at me. Oh crap this is how it really ends. Me dying before it all began. I would have to say goodbye to whatever life I had dreamed of. The life that had been stolen from me.
But I wouldn't  go down begging for mercy. I would except my fate. So I faced the oncoming sword with fire in my eyes. And then.......
