The Surge
Sometimes I just can't sleep,
Inside, in my head, it just won't keep,
Forcing itself out, like a mother in labour,
It's not content merely being my other thought's neighbour.
It brims to my surface, a powerful surge,
And I can't fight that irresistible creative urge.
I want to bring it to life, give it colour,
For as a mere notion it seems so much duller.
Through words and rhyme I have a hunger to articulate its existence,
And with natural instinct, pure creativity, impulse and persistence,
I have made my thought known and clear,
I have truly given birth to an incredible idea.
