Book Title - Drake
Score - 99/100
Review -

TITLE:I like the name as the title. Drake is Lyn's object of focus, so it fits perfectly to have the book named after him.

BLURB:The rule of thumb for summaries is to hit: your main character(s), the inciting incident (or hint at it), your MC's objective, and the stakes. You also want to write this as succinct as possible. And you do just that.— Main Characters? Lyn, an immortal gypsy. (And Drake.)— Inciting Incident? Meeting Drake again after 30 years of being apart.— Objective? To find answers to this vendetta and fight alongside Drake in this hidden war.— The Stakes? Bloodshed.Really nice work here. We have an understanding of the world we're stepping into, the character's goals, and the journey that lies ahead of them.

COVER:This cover is definitely unique - but I think that's a great thing. There's no conventional imagery from this genre used here (blood, someone shape-shifting, hot half-naked bodies, etc). But the image is clear, as is the title and author's name. I think clean and simple works.

PLOT:In my opinion, the biggest reasons why your plot shines is because of its originality and complexity in world-building. This world of fantastical lore/mythology within our real world in different countries is so spectacularly handled. The stakes for your characters feel real and dire, and the story sets itself up to have twists, turns, betrayal, heartbreak, bloodshed, love, and maybe even redemption. I don't think I can say much else except that this is really well done, and a story that makes you want to read further.

ORIGINALITY:10/10 marks for creativity. You've married decades of the real world and its wars, with the fantastical elements of werewolves, vampires, and other mythology. Seriously, this read was so fun to dive into, and such a different approach to this genre(s).

GRAMMAR:I have nothing to say here. Very clean, well organized, and easy to follow text!

WRITING STYLE:You have such a balanced way of story-telling. There are enough descriptions to set the scene, without feeling heavy-handed, and the more that are sprinkled in within action sequences, help as a reader to visualize what's going on. There's no telling going on (in reference to showing vs telling), and the believability in the chaos and turmoil these characters are going through, from the beginning, is sharp and clear. You've given this story so much depth, but I knew that just from the first 10-15 chapters, I'd only scratched the surface. My one comment is going to be about the beginning chapters (specifically Ch1-6). To be honest, I was a little lost while reading these. Not in the sense of the action sequences being unclear, or losing track of what was happening, but I didn't have the best grasp of when we were in the present vs the past or a flashback. Throughout each of these chapters we have Kalen in Ch2 who's having flashbacks, Lyn rethinking memories at the beginning of Ch3, and then Drake in Ch4 because it starts in the evening time when just moments ago in Ch3 it was the afternoon? This is was my only source of confusion, and this might just be my opinion, but I'd encourage clarifying this. Whether that's through an additional space between paragraphs when jumping through time, or a line (———) to signify we've jumped times, I think something to help the reader understand those jumps would be very helpful. When we got to Ch7, and I saw "Lyn 1981" and then the first several paragraphs immediately explained everything that had happened so far, I thought it was very well done, AND didn't feel like an info dump. For a consistency note, I honestly would encourage you to put time stamps in the beginning chapters (or at least Ch2 to 6). I think that alone might help a lot with clarifying any time jump confusion because of the fact that we're going from far in the past, to the past, and then in the present (1981) in Ch7. That might just be me, but I do think it would just help to make sure the reader has some context getting thrust into those loaded chapters in the beginning of the story. Not knowing everything right away is a great thing, but giving the reader a hand in at least knowing how to even place all the info is always helpful.

CHARACTERS:These characters are rich, dynamic, and full of life. Lyn is obviously in love with Drake, and that was demonstrated in the most dramatic of ways after she made that deal with Aspasia. She is strong, intelligent, and determined. Drake intrigues me. I like that I don't quite have a grasp on him, even with his backstory chapters/flashbacks when he was called Deimos. Anna and Aspasia felt disgustingly evil within one or two lines of dialogue. And it was clear that they are much more than what I've seen so far. I don't have much to offer here except my thought that that they feel set-up to have complex and intricate journeys throughout this story. You've written characters I want to get to know and that I want to root for.

Book Title - Wolf & Hood

Score - 99.5/100

Review -

TITLE: Love it. I already know the lore that's going to mixed into the book (way to draw the reader in, simply by your title!), and the idea that this could be a twist on the 'big bad wolf' and 'little red' is unique and exciting!

BLURB:I think your blurb is creatively written and has an inciting edge to it. You hit all the main points a summary needs to hit: introducing your main characters, the inciting incident, your character's objective, and the stakes. Really nice work here! I also loved the short quip from the original tale:"What big hands you have...""All the better to please you with, my dear."So. Fun. I do think there are a couple small things that read a bit funny, that could possibly be re-worded or grammatically changed. By day, Ally-fondly known as Red-is CEO of one of the biggest sweet treat conglomerates in the country...— I'd suggest using commas, rather than dashes here. OR since the dashes technically work, adding in spaces on either side so it's cleaner. So edited:By day, Ally, fondly known as Red, is CEO of one of the biggest sweet treat conglomerates in the country...ORBy day, Ally - fondly known as Red - is the CEO of one of the biggest sweet treat conglomerates in the country...A trail of crumbs leads her into the underbelly of the city, a world of deception bathed in blood-Vincent Wolf's territory. The kingpin of the underworld and the new face of Wall Street, Vincent is as handsome as he is deadly; a man who gets what he wants, and his sights are set on Ally's company.— The first sentence read a bit weird. It felt like three phrases "the underbelly" then "World of deception" then "Vincent's territory" sort of mashed into a sentence. I'd suggest flipping the phrasing around to help it flow a bit better. So, edited it could be:A trail of crumbs leads her into Vincent Wolf's territory; the underbelly of the city and a world of deception bathed in blood.— Even though this second sentence isn't technically a run-on, it felt like one when reading it. I think the shorter, more concise sentences you had in the beginning, during Ally's intro paragraph, better suit the momentum you have going in this summary. So edited it could be:As the kingpin of the underworld and the new face of Wall Street, Vincent is as handsome as he is deadly. He's a man who gets what he wants. And his sights are set on Ally's company. (OR - He's a man who gets what he wants, and his sights are set on Ally's company.)...Vincent will stop at nothing to devour the corporation she worked so hard for-and her along with it.— Small grammar thing here. Comma needed rather than the dash. Edited:On a mission of his own to save his own people, Vincent will stop at nothing to devour the corporation she worked so hard for, and her along with it.These are small things, but I think it'll sharpen the already great edge you have in this. Really solid work! :)

COVER:Beautifully done. I have nothing to say here. Well made image collage, with a clear font that matches the tone of the story. Nice work to the graphics person who designed this!PLOT:This story is honestly such an enjoyable read. The originality in the idea is exciting to dive into, and you do a great job of hooking the reader within the first chapter. I believe your inciting incident was Ally and Vincent meeting, and being forced to become partners (at the end of Ch2), and although for the most part inciting incidents take place at the end of the first chapter, I believe this placement works for your story. You have a great hook in Ch1, by immediately introducing Vincent's motivations. Then, we immediately find out Ally's in Ch2, followed by the event that's bringing them together. Really nice work here.I think you also hit a great balance of descriptions to set up each scene, and use the scenery well to propel the energy of what's happening with the characters. For example, for the entirety of the being in the V-lounge, it felt tense, grimy, and laced with danger. I felt the differences of how Ally and Vincent felt in this location - and that made being there all the more fun for me, as a reader. I think you've set up a great journey for Ally and Vincent. Within three chapters, we know who they are, what they are fighting for, why they're fighting for their individual goals, and also know that its going to cause some fun drama along the way. I'm very excited to see where this story goes next.

ORIGINALITY:This novel gets 10/10 marks for the creativity in this story. There have been twists on the tale of red and wolf, and I genuinely enjoyed reading your new twist to this story! It was fun, playful, sensual, yet delicately handled the seriousness that was the foundation of the plot with the disease wrecking Vincent's people and Ally's traumatic history of her father's murder and sinking business. Keep up the great work.

GRAMMAR:I really have no feedback here. Your work is clean. Your Point of Views in 3rd person are written consistently without wall breaks, or changing persons. Dialogue is written cleanly, with proper punctuation when it comes to dialogue tags and sentence structure. The thoughts in italicized font is kept consistent throughout the text as well, and overall, this is a very easy read. Seriously, nice work! :)

WRITING STYLE:I'd like to commend you for the balance of show vs tell. Anytime I felt information being shared, it was always through the present-minded perspective of your characters: like finding out about Ally's father's murder (and murderer), or Vincent realizing the scent similarity between Ally and the scent trailing the death of his people. World-building also felt organically shared from the perspectives of your characters, rather than info dumps to keep the reader informed. For example, learning more about how Vincent's world worked through the meeting in Ch5-6, and Ally's business struggles through conversations between her and her grandmother.Your pacing feels solid as well. You hit the moments of humor, but are sure to push the momentum forward during important plot points like Vincent and Ally meeting for the first time, and Ally's being found out in the private room in the V-lounge. Each chapter felt well-rounded and purposeful to continue moving the story forward. And to be frank, I just enjoyed reading this! Your writing is easy dig into and follow along the ride that this story has in store. Really really nice work! :)

CHARACTERS:Applause to you for character personalities and motivations being so crystal clear. I love how Vincent and Ally's similarities bring tension between the two (like their physical attractiveness, snarky remarks, and need to be the one in charge), alongside of similar motivations (Vincent saving his people and Ally saving her business). Ally's intelligent, witty, and boss-babe attitude are a great balance to Vincent's similar personality traits as a leader. But something I especially loved was seeing two completely different sides of Vincent, within two chapters. In chapter one, you get us to root for Vincent. He's a leader with a heart for his people, and he's going to do whatever it takes to save them. Then we see him in chapter two with his game face on - this is a whole new side that we haven't seen yet - a prideful, almost smug, business man, with the inherent Alpha personality due to his position of power. But, he's not your stereotypical asshole Alpha type - we saw his heart in the chapter beforehand. And right there is where you make him relatable and human. I felt torn as a reader because I'm rooting for both of them. Way to set up a journey between the two as individuals, but also how they're going to (maybe) come together in the end. Stellar work.

Book Title - The Vampire Always Bites Twice

Score - 100/100

Review -

TITLE: I just really enjoy this title! Plus, I feel like most people don't imagine vampires going back for seconds, but instead, biting once and that being the end of it. So, I like the twist on what I think could be people's first thoughts when they think of a vampire bite.

BLURB:You struck such a balance of introducing the characters and the world, all the while clearly establishing the voice and style this story has. GREAT work. Plus the one sentence summary at the beginning? Awesome.**Small aesthetic note: This is something I've found with many Wattpad tip books, and advice from others - I'd put your "author's notes" like the update schedule and award listed, at the bottom - make it clear that's not a part of the summary. Your blurb is so killer (pun not intended), let that shine before anything else.

COVER:It matches the greatness, and aesthetic, of the Title and Blurb. Everything is visible, even from the thumbnail. Love it.

PLOT:Entertaining? Absolutely. Pacing? Definitely there. Does this story keep the reader hooked? I'd give it a big thumbs up. I think the biggest area you succeed in, is your characters voices & establishing this world within the first two chapters. The stage was set for the meat of the plot to begin by only Ch4, which made the "meet-cute" between Isla and Gregorio all the more exciting in Ch5. How you lead the reader on this journey with Isla and Gregorio, lines up with the amount of originality this story has. Well done!

ORIGINALITY:What an absolutely refreshing story to read. Vampires, necromancers, werewolves, oh my! Way to mix what could be several separate genres & their character stereotypes, and add in your individual take to make them fit your story. Your voice is clear, and makes this unique world, within the actual city of Philly, all the more exciting to dive into!

GRAMMAR:The grammar in this is basically flawless. Even within your characters' individual quips and voices, it doesn't get cluttered or messy to read. Kudos to you and your eye for solid structure and grammar!

WRITING STYLE:Firstly, I want to applaud you on showing and not telling. For the most part, your characters only tell the reader info when its in regards to their feelings or thought process about something that's happening. You do a wonderful job of keeping the scene clear, and imagery, vivid. Something I particularly enjoyed is the introduction of the POV at the beginning of the chapters - you even kept that information within the stylistic choice of the book by writing the character's name, followed by a quip of some kind. I genuinely enjoyed reading this - it was incredibly easy to fall into your world and want to come along for the ride.

CHARACTERS:As I previous said, your character voices are very clear. I love Isla and all of her wit, sass, and intelligence (even for someone completely breaking their own parole) that rests on top of what feels like such backstory and depth. Gregorio and his introduction to us (I found the entire chapter of him in the van, hilarious - even if he was being threatened) was so strong. He stood out from Isla, even though they are both very witty and have a seemingly "I'm going to live my life" type of attitude. Well. Done.
