Charlotte Evans returns to her old school after leaving it in the middle of her freshman year on a very bad note. She hopes to make it through her senior year unnoticed. But things don't go as planned when she reconnects with an old friend and is forced to face the tragedy that brought her back in the first place.

Although he pretends he has, Jacob Bevitt has never gotten over the girl who broke his heart in fifth grade: his former best friend Charlotte. Now she's back in his life, and he finds himself wanting to get to know her again. He wants to open up to her, but this would mean facing his own trauma that he's put aside for far too long.

Can the two of them find their way back to each other? Can they help each other through their pain? Or will the wounds that they've neglected catch up to them and destroy their second chance?
