
Chapter 3, The test.
~Kristina's POV~

I stretched my arms, hearing the metal creak, if anyone was in the room they would be able to see my automail due to my choice in pajamas, a blue singlet shirt that ended just below my hips, and green shorts that could only just be visible past the long shirt. I heard the giant clock outside my window start to ring, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 "fudge I'm gonna be late." I screamed as I jumped out of bed, and not being used to the surroundings as well as in a rush, I crashed straight into the glass table across from me.
"What the hell do you think your doing." I heard someone scream as they opened my unlocked door, "that was a brand new table!" They screamed at me.
"I'm so sorry, I'll fix it I'm just not used to my surroundings."
"Why the hell would that ma . . . Oh it's okay I didn't realise you were blind, I guess it must be hard to get around." The man said a lot calmer, I now recognised the voice as the one who had given me the key to my room, and they way he reacted, most probably the owner of the hotel not just a worker.
"Well not usually but I've never been here before so this might happen again, but as I said I'll fix everything I break." I smiled at the man.
"How can you fix it? It's shattered into a million pieces." His voice high, and his eyes wide.
"Well let's turn that million into one." I smiled as I turned around I moved towards the table and felt a sharp pain in my foot as I stood on some glass. "Fudge that hurt." I muttered under my breath as I waved my hand over my foot to heal it. I knelt down to the ground and placed my hands on the ground beside the glass I could hear it shifting back into its original position.
"Oh I see, your an alchemist, any chance your going to take the state alchemist exam?" He smiled towards me.
"As a matter of fact yes, by the way not trying to be rude but do you think you could take me to central, I know I'll get lost otherwise? And I don't have the time." I replied scratching the back of my head.
"Sure I'll drive you there, but we'll want to hurry you only have half 'n' hour."
He practically dragged me out the door and into the car, I could feel the car start moving and before long come to a halt. "Here you go central."
"Thank you so much," I said we'll throwing him some cash, I mean I can't let him do me a favour and not pay him. I ran to the doors but tripped on the steps, "damn these new surroundings" I said a little too loudly.
"Are you okay miss?" I heard someone ask, I could just feel that they seemed to be someone that could help me, especially since I could hear their state alchemist watch clink against their military uniform.
"Yes I am fine but do you think you could show me where they are holding the state alchemist exams, I really need to get there or I'll be late."
"Of course miss I will take you there right now."
"Thank you very much." I smiled at him.
It was silent for a while before he decided to ask me a question. "If you don't mind me asking how are you going to take the written exam when you are blind?"
"Well you see, I'm not going to take it."
"What are you going to do then, I mean you just have to pass some sought of test to become a state alchemist but what would it be?"
"Well apparently I have to battle against one of the best state alchemists, and either win or at least come extremely close."
"Well that is going to be quite a task-" he was going to say more but I interrupted him.
"ARE YOU SAYING I CANT FIGHT WELL CAUSE I AM A BLIND GIRL!" I screamed at him.
"No miss I was not going to say that, I was going to say that we have some very good state alchemists and it would be more of a challenge for you too pass than anyone who is taking the written and other tests." He state quite calmly considering my recent outburst.
"Oh." I said while scratching the back of my head, "well I'm really sorry 'bout my reaction just then." I felt really rude now, stupid temper.
"Oh it is quite alright, I am used to such outbursts from someone I have had to watch over a few times." Hmm odd.
"Well that still doesn't excuse my reaction so I would like to know your name so I can properly apologise."
"Oh how silly of me, I have not introduced myself, I am major Alex Louis Armstrong the strong arm alchemist." Why do I feel like he is pulling an extremely awkward pose?
"Well Alex Louis Armstrong, I am Kristina and I am terribly sorry for my out burst before."
"As I said my dear that is perfectly alright, and it believe we are at the exam rooms, and just in the nick of time too."
"Thank you very much, I hope to see you another time."
"Yes I hope so too."
I walked through the doors and felt myself around to the front where I met another man and he also had a state alchemist watch. "Um excuse me sir, I would like to know where I am needed to go because due to my um condition you could say, I am required to take a different test to become a state alchemist?" I tilted my head upwards sensing that he was taller than me.
"Ah, you must be Kristina Ross, I am Roy Mustang my rank is lieutenant colonel and I am the flame alchemist." Show off much.
"Will it be you I am fighting?"
"No it will not, you will be fighting against one of our younger alchemists, and if you would like to get there in time we better hurry."
"Yes thank you sir."
"You almost sound like your in the military already." He chuckled to himself.
"Well my family was in the military once I guess it just rubbed off onto me." I smiled up at him.
I could hear him starting to walk away so I followed close behind, I could hear him stop all of a sudden, "this is the battle arena, the alchemist you will be fighting should come soon. And might I warn you he is pretty good, it won't be an easy win."
I tried to hide my smirk due to the fact he didn't think I would fight too well, well he'll get one
hell of a surprise when I start to fight whoever it is. Suddenly I heard footsteps start to approach me and the Lt. Colonel walk off, I got into a fighting stance. "Hey don't panic I'm not the one your meant to be fighting, I don't wanna be hit by some sought of alchemy. The names Hughes."
"Hello sir, not a state alchemist huh?"
"What how could you tell?"
"I couldn't hear a watch on you." I said shrugging my shoulders.
"What do you mean I have to fight someone to see if their worthy of being a state alchemist, why don't they just take the tests like everyone else?" I heard someone scream, but the voice sounded so familiar, I also noticed that at this point the other man, Hughes I think it was, ran off the arena in an almost panic, muttering something along the lines of 'not getting in the way again'.
"Look, I know that but this way will be harder and they're blind so they can't take the written however from what I've heard their a very good fighter and have very good alchemy skills and the fuhrer thinks that if that's so she will be a very good asset to the military, even if she is blind." Why did he make a point of the fact I am blind?
"Wait are you saying they're both blind and a girl?" No shit Sherlock.
"Yes"
"I'm gonna be fighting a blind girl!" Oh no, he's gonna get it!
"Yes you are, and I think she will get impatient waiting so you might want to get it over with."
"Fine" he grumbled, walking over too me as I could feel my fists clench together.
As soon as I knew I was in his view I couldn't hold back any longer, "YOU DO REALISE THAT JUST BECAUSE IM A GIRL AND BLIND DOSENT MEANT I CANT KICK YOUR LITTLE SORRY ASS!" I screamed at them.
"Wait you?" Was all that I heard the voice reply, I heard the left automail clank against the ground then it clicked as to why the voice sounded so familiar.
"Edward?"
"Yeah, and why the hell do you want to become a state alchemist? And why are your eyes-"
"Let me guess, they're a dark Gray?" I asked as if it was the most obvious thing.
"Yeah, they're like almost black."
"Well you see my eyes change colour, the only one it always changes to is dark grey although it's almost black and that's when I get slightly mad, however they are usually the sliver."
"Okay then," he stated unsure. "Why do you want to become a state alchemist?"
"For me to know and you to find out now let's fight you ass!" I was still pretty pissed at how he reacted to a blind girl wanting to become an alchemist.
"Fine, but don't expect me to take it easy on you." He smirked.
"I was hoping you wouldn't."
I heard him clap before putting his hands towards the ground, I could feel it vibrating and at
the last minute jumped out of the way, this is gonna be a hard fight for him to win of he was gonna fight me like that I'm used to listen to the vibrations now.
Ed's POV

'Damn this is gonna be hard to win if I only use those kind of attacks, I'll have to make this hand to hand combat maybe then I'll be able to take her off guard.' Suddenly I sweat dropped, 'I can't believe I'm going to go full out on a blind girl.'
Suddenly I saw flames come towards me, and after i jumped out of the way I screamed at the colonel, "MUSTANG YOU BUTT OUT OF THIS!" I screamed.
"I-It wasn't m-me f-fullmetal, it was her." What I thought, 'she can use flame alchemy, damn!' Suddenly more flames came towards me as well as chunks of the earth, 'how the hell is she able to transmute two completely different things as the same time?' I watched the way she twisted out of the way of my attacks, she dodged almost identical to teacher.
I guess I'll just have to sneak up behind her then, I laughed to myself as I ran around to get behind her.
~Kristina's POV~

I touched the ground before clicking my fingers and repeated that process a few times, unlike Edward I didn't need to clap my hands so I could transmute a lot quicker. Suddenly I realised I wasn't shooting towards anything, but with the earth vibrating too much from his attacks so I couldn't hear where he was. "Damn him!" I was about to just blind everyone when I felt thin cold metal on my neck.
"Well then, I think I win." He chuckled to me.
"Keep dreamin'." I said as I touched his automail to turn it back to normal, before flinging him over my back. I took that opportunity of him having the wind knocked out of him, to turn my own automail into a knife and put it at his neck. "Thanks for the making this such an easy fight." I smiled at him.
He stared shocked at my arm for a while, before regaining his composure. "Why would you think I made this an easy fight." I could hear the smirk in his voice, and then could feel the earth move from underneath me.
"Shit." I screamed as I jumped away from him to avoid being engulfed into the ground, he started to run towards me so I did what I do best. When he was close enough I shifted the light and heard him scream, I then ran towards him I was about to touch the ground when I felt myself being lifted up into the air, I was cursing under my breath before I touched what I assumed was a hand and fell to the ground. I could hear him running up to me and sliced towards my stomach, I tried to get out of the way but I didn't in time, I put my hand to the gash to heal it. I the twisted on the ground to feel my left leg hit his, he fell onto the ground but I heard a crack from the impact. "AHHHHH." I screamed out in pain.
"Are you okay?" I heard Edward ask.
"Just help me up please." Was all I replied, he lifted me up off the ground and before he knew what was happening I punched him in the face to have him go crashing down. I touched my leg to feel sparks of energy heal it.
"What the hell?" Was all I heard from Edward before I placed my hands on the ground I heard it shift and could feel a suddenly loss of movement so I could tell that he had been caught. Suddenly I could hear some claps from behind me.
I turned to face them "and who's clapping?" I asked.
"Just me." I recognise the voice as Roy Mustang. "Now do you think you could please let Fullmetal down, we kinda need him."
"Sure" I said as I shrugged my shoulders and placed my hands on the ground to hear the earth moving and someone fall to the ground.
"I can't believe I lost to a blind girl." He muttered.
I ran over to him with my automail still a blade, "DONT YOU DARE UNDERESTIMATE ME JUST BECAUSE I AM BLIND AND A GIRL!"
"I'm s-sorry." He stuttered to me, I glared at him before tapping my automail and turning it back to normal, I then reached into the pocket of my jeans to get another black glove and put it on.
I walked over to Mustang, "so . . . How did I do?"
"Very well, I mean you did beat one of our top alchemists, and especially interesting how you could heal yourself." I could hear both the grin and the fear in his voice. He obviously enjoyed seeing me beat Edward yet was scared that I might be able to beat him.
"Well, do I head home now or do I have to go through another test?"
"As a matter of fact, you are already a state alchemist."
"What?" Both me and Edward screamed at the same time, although him in shock and me in excitement. "How the hell can she become a state alchemist?"
"Because I just kicked your ass pipsqueak." I smiled at him.
"WHO ARE YOU CALLING SO SHORT THAT THEY CAN DROWN IN A PUDDLE OF WATER!, and besides your shorter than me!"
"Yes but I'm younger."
"You look like your 16 and I'm only 14."
I started cracking up laughing, "you, you think I'm 16?"
He stared at me oddly, "yeah, how old are you?"
"12." I couldn't hold it in any longer as I imagined their shocked expressions so I fell on the floor in a fit of laughter.
"Great not only did I get beaten by a blind girl, but she's only 12." Normally I would be kicking his ass right now, but I was too happy about becoming a state alchemist, and I had already done that once today, I don't want to hurt his pride too much.
"Well I'm sorry to interrupt the happy dance, but if your that young we will need a parents
consent." I suddenly stopped laughing to stand up but I had my head down to cover my eyes. "They don't agree?" He asked questioningly.
I lifted my head to look at him "their not in any place to agree or disagree . . . Their dead."
"Oh, well have you been taken care of by any older siblings?"
"Yes, but he died 'bout 3 years ago now, along with my sister."
"Have you had anyone take care of you?"
"Not really."
"Well then, I guess I have no choice but to let you become a state alchemist so that we can watch over you.
My saddened face lit right up with my smile, "really?" I asked him.
"I never lie, so yes you are officially a state alchemist, now go get some rest."
I nodded my head before walking into the halls of central.
"By the way your room is 21B." I heard Mustang call out to me.
Yay another chappie, and this time it's not a cliffhanger, well now that you know most things bout Kristy, the next chapter I shall post her picture, I couldn't before because it's more of a profile an it has her age on it as well as name, and I wanted that scene to be a suprise. SUPRISE!!!
Kristy: just get on with it.
Me: no way, I'm having fun talking to me readers.
Kristy: . . . What readers?
Me: shutup, no need to spoil my fun, and besides if I have no readers that means that no one likes you! Ha beat that!
Kristy: that means they don't like you either because I have the exact same personality as you.
Me: . . . You suck! Are you trying to spoil my fun?
Kristy: not at all, your doing that yourself. Literally.
Me: just say the declaration or what ever the hell you call it.
Kristy: fine ranger.
Me: you know that doesn't insult me right?
Kristy: anyway, all rights go to Hiromu Arakawa. Except for me, she didn't create me Sonya did that one.
Me: wait did you just say something nice?
Kristy: I can be nice, look at yourself, your both nice and mean.
Me: ya have a point there, well anyway, by peeps.
Kristy: there's no one to say bye to orangatang.
Me: DONT CALL ME A DAMN ORANGATANG, YOUR A REDHEAD TOO HA NOW-
Kristy: anyway, we have to go now, well I'm gonna be chased and she's gonna chase so bye.
