The summer was supposed to be theirs. The last, golden days before the future carried them away-before college, before responsibility, before the weight of adulthood could settle on their shoulders. So they made a pact: one final night, one last reckless, shining moment to burn into memory. They drank under the stars, the bonfire licking at the darkness, the ocean whispering its secrets against the shore. They laughed until their voices were hoarse, danced until their bodies ached, kissed like they were invincible.

But by dawn, the magic was gone.

When the tide rolled in, so did the body-one of their own, pale and broken against the sand. The laughter died in their throats. Hands that had once clutched bottles and cigarettes now shook with the weight of something heavier. Murder. Panic twisted inside them like barbed wire. The world was too small for this secret, too fragile to contain it. So they buried the truth. They buried their friend.

And then they moved on.

Years passed, and they became the people they were meant to be-the ones with polished smiles and promising futures. They left the beach behind, the past a shadow trailing at their heels. Until the messages began. Until the whispers slithered into their perfect lives. Someone knows. Someone remembers.

The past does not stay buried.

One by one, they begin to unravel. The same fear that gripped them that morning on the beach returns, more suffocating than ever. Their friendships splinter. Their careful lives crack. And as the truth claws its way back to the surface, they realize the ocean never forgets what it has swallowed.
