Chapter Thirteen
Taylor awoke to electricity hitting her system. She gasped loudly as she felt oxygen surged through her body. She opened her eyes looking around as she moved to get up
"Stay down sweetheart. Everything is alright." Taylor moved her mask
"My mom. Where is she?"
"Your mom honey? Was she in the car?"
"I-I don't know. But I want her."
"Someone try to get information about her alright. She wants her mom." Taylor grew dizzy as they wheeled her down the hallway and into a room.
"We gotta operate on the stomach now."
"Operate! Please, I want my mom!" Taylor said as she tried to sit up once more.
"Sh Sh it's alright honey. We're going to put you out now so we can operate."
"No no!"
"Someone sedate her please!"
"Yes doctor." Pain stabbed her arm and then slowly she drifted off to sleep.
Taylor awoke a few minutes late to a machine beeping steadily, something cold touched her chest
"Breathing sounds good.
"Good.
"Hellow Sweethear, my name is Dr. Loin and this is Dr. Ryker. Do you know where you are?"
"T-the hospital" Taylor said groggily as they brought her to a sitting position
"That's right. Do you remember your name?"
"Yes. It's Taylor. Taylor Acey." Dr. Ryker nodded at Dr. Loin who left.
"Okay Taylor, do you remember what happened before you came here?" Taylor searched her mind, the memories coming up blurry but they were there.
"I know I was driving. I was scared because I didn't know how. I turned wrong and we crashed."
"Weh you say we, who do you mean?"
"M-my neighbor. Stone Reeks. Is he okay?"
"I'll go find out Taylor okay, you sit tight." Taylor leaned her head back as the doctor left.
"Psst Psst." A voice came. Turning she saw Stone. He came closer and she saw that his head had been wrapped and he held his side.
"Stone! Thank God you're alright."
"Sure I am. Just a few broken ribs and a concussion. You?"
"I don't know. They did some sort of operation on me. And I think something on my knee too." She nodded at the wrap on it.
"I'm so sorry Taylor, I shouldn't have asked you to do something you weren't ready for."
"It's alright, Stone."
"I'll take you home."
"No, I want to help. Whatever you're fighting, it seems like you can't do this on your own." Stone sighed.
"You would be right." Chatter on a walkie greeted their ears. With silent steps Stone peeked out the curtain. He swore under his breath
"What's wrong?"
"It's the hospital police. We have to get out of here. Can you move?"
"Sorta." Stone nodded. He pushed some buttons on the monitor, then took off her oxygen and lifted her out, blankets and all. He walked from room to room but it was easy because all the patients here were comatose and no one was visiting them. Hefound a wheelchair near the entrance and put Taylor in it.
"Hey!" Someone said, They turned and saw a hefty guard, with skin the color of chocolate kisses walking towards them. Stone stopped, knowing he couldn't get too far.
"Yes?"
"Are you allowed to take the sheets?"
"I won't tell if you won't." Stone said with a smile. The guy glanced around
"Go ahead. I won't tell." Stone nodded at him, then he pushed Taylor outside into pitch blackness except for the parking lot lights.
"Wait Stone! We don't have a car. How are we going to get anywhere?"
"Well Taylor, there's this thing called hot writing. Basically you break into a car and put the wires together to start it.
"We are going to steal a car?"
"Yes. Because I know that they will be here soon."
"Who? The bad guys?"
"Them, the cops, your parents."
"So what if my parents come?"
"Then I will be taken into custody for kidnapping."
"But you didn't kidnap me."
"No, but without proof they will think you're lying and I will go to jail." Taylor grew silent at this statement and as pain started ebbing away at her. Stone pushed her to the far part of the parking lot where he found a blue colored mustang.
"Just what we need." He said, rubbing his hands together. Grabbing his pocket knife from his pocket, he picked the lock after making sure no alarm system would go off. Then he opened the back door and she got in and laid down on the back seat, grinding her teeth together so she wouldn't show she was in pain. He shut the door and got into the driver's seat. Pulling out the right wires, he got it started after the fourth try. Then away they went at lightning speeds, Taylor grimaced and held her stomach tightly every time they hit a pothole. As they drove on, she wondered just what she had gotten herself into, this wasn't the summer she had planned for. Not one bit.
"Where are we headed?"
"To my other house. No one knows about it."
"And where is this other house located?"
"Fairbanks Alaska."
