This chapter is 300 words short so I'm sorry about that.
So I don't know what to think of this chapter...but hey ho let's give it a go!
The next few chapters are important so this one is sort of building up to it.

Daniel P.O.V
August is finally upon us and for Laura's birthday my Dad has paid for Clarissa, Graham, Mum, himself, James and Laura to go and stay at a spa hotel for a few days.
Which means that Hazel and I are home alone and Ellie will be staying longer at Alexa's which she was thrilled at when I called and let her know last night.
"That's awesome! So will you and Hazel be home alone?"
"Yeah"
"Interesting...."
"Oh seriously Ellie?!"
James staggers into the room with two suitcases, breathing heavily and falling back onto the sofa besides me spread out clumsily like a rag doll while Laura comes skipping into the room, beaming widely.
"No time to rest James we need to get going!" Mum says coming into the room with Clarissa at her side, Mum looks like she's going to the beach for some reason, I don't understand fashion at all.
Laura, Mum and Clarissa walk outside and I hear laughter as Mum chats with Graham and Dad.
James hangs back, his hands in his pockets looking at me.
"Now listen to me both of you" he says looking over at Hazel who comes in eating a pot of noodles looking confused when he looks at her.
"No funny business while we're gone, don't you lay one finger on her Daniel do you understand me?" he asks, his eye brows furrowing as he points at me.
I flatten myself against the sofa to try and get as far away from his stern gaze as possible, Haze lets out a sigh.
"Seriously James?!" she yells
"Yes seriously! Do you understand Daniel?"
I nod quickly, fear flooding my veins, who knows what he's capable off.
"I wouldn't dare" I say, wait did I just lie to him? Oh great just what I need guilt.
"Now go!" Hazel yells, shoving him out of the door.
"Now if you need anything just call..."
"Yeah yeah whatever"
The door closes and she hurries back in so we can wave from the window as James scowls at us and I can feel a smirk spreading on my face.
The two cars rumble as they are stared up and my Mum waves frantically at me, the cars finally disappear from view and I breathe a sigh of relief.
"Your brother can be really intimidating" I say, placing a hand over my hammering heart, I must be the wimpiest boy on the whole of the Isle of Wight if one girl's brother can scare me.
She smiles and sits beside me on the sofa, her hands move plaiting her hair into a long braid over her shoulder as she watches me with those beautiful brown eyes.
"Yeah he can be, bit of a nightmare really" she sighs
I nod silently feeling my heart calm down, I pick up the TV remote and I turn the channel so that some Soap Opera comes on and two women are fighting over a murder.
"So Laura and the rest are gone tonight, tomorrow and then they come back the next day?" I ask
"Yeah" she confirms, shifting on the sofa so that she is sitting cross legged, her chin resting in her hand and her arm on her knee as she watches the program.
"Want to order a pizza or something later, maybe watch a film?"
"Sure, that sounds nice"
"I've got a better idea actually" I say after pondering for a minute
"Care to share?"
"Yeah how about we ride to the take out place, on my scooter?"
She grins, shaking her head in amusement.
"What?"
"Who's going to carry the pizza?"
"Us duh"
"No when we're riding it! I'll have my arms wrapped around you and you'll be steering"
"Do you still want to have me as a support, I would've thought you would be okay at it now"
"No!" she says quickly
I raise an eyebrow at her with a smirk plastered across my face, my arms folded over my flannel shirt.
"I mean...uh...I've only been on it once!" she stutters, her cheeks reddening as she looks at me then to the floor.
"Yeah I was only kidding Hazelnut, I wouldn't let you do that it's not safe, I'd never forgive myself if something happened to you"
Crap, did I just say that out loud?
You Dan are pathetic, man up seriously!
She smiles at me in an almost bashful way, holding her wrist over her waist and shuffling her feet on the wooden floor.
"Thanks" she says before walking away into the kitchen.
I jog after her to find her staring out at the back garden, playing with her side braid; a smile crosses over her face as she watches Murray and Charlie meow at each other, Murray sits on the old wooden swing with his tail flicking idly behind him. The black metal of the outdoor dining table and chairs makes me smile as well, a few years ago around about this time we were sat at that table talking about our future.
"Dan, do you think I'll ever come back here?"
"What do you mean?"
"I mean Dad could get that promotion and I could be on a beach in Turkey or something"
"Most people wouldn't complain about that"
"Yeah but you won't be with me"
My fourteen year old heart was beating like crazy at her words, little did he know that that crush would return in two years' time.
She reached out and patted my hand with a smile and I nervously glanced up at her face that was framed by brunette locks and she wore a crown of daisies that my then 10 year old sister had made her.
"Just don't forget me" I whispered
"Never"
I wonder if she's thinking of that day as she smiles at the black table, does she even remember it?
"See I didn't forget you"
That was odd did she read my mind or something?
"Can I go out there?"
I nod and pull the keys from the notice board, my fingers grasping onto the pink teddy key chain that my Dad bought my Mum a few years ago, I fumble with the lock for a second and then I finally manage to open the sliding door.
A cool breeze flows through the house and ruffles the crème curtains that we use to cover it up at night, Hazel glances at me then hops out into the August heat.
"Woah" I say shielding my eyes from the blinding sun, lucky I wore shorts today though.
"Ah sun" she say, flopping down onto the warm grass and running her hands through it by her sides.
"I thought you wanted to see the table...?"
"Yeah I do I haven't sat there at all since I've been here" she says
She jumps up swiftly and walks over to the table, she runs her hands over the black artificial glass and smiles.
She sits down and I sit opposite in the same seats that we sat in two years ago.
"Déjà vu" she says and I nod with a smile, she lean back onto the black fabric and sighs.
"It's weird how I've known you practically my whole life and we never communicated in those two years"
"Well we did but like for two months"
"Exactly, and we just got on with our lives"
"And that sucked"
She smiles sympathetically at me and Murray jumps onto the table purring.
"Yeah it didn't work out for either of us"
She sighs and leans back in her chair, running her hand over Murray's head.
"But thanks to you I've put the past behind me, why dwell in the past when you can explore the present and dream the future?"
I look up at her and she looks me in the eyes intensely as I try to respond to that.
"Thank you"
"Why are you thanking me?"
Oh Hazel you just can't know that yet.
"No reason"
She raises and eyebrow and I smile indicating with my fingers that my mouth is zipped and she groans.
"I will find out"
"Find out what?"
She shakes her head angrily although the corners of her mouth are twitching as if she can't stay mad at me.
Home alone with Hazel for three days? I wonder what this will bring.
***
She wraps her arms around my waist tightly as I start up my prized possession, I smile at her in the wing mirror and when she's distracted I quickly zoom down the street and she squeaks, I laugh at her and then focus on the road.
We park my scooter then make our way through the crowded town full of tourists going into the shops and cafés and make our way to the pizza place, I open the door for her and she walks with my behind.
"Hi can I help?" asks a tall young freckled man with ginger hair at the counter.
"Yeah hi, can I get one barbeque pizza please?"
"Anything else with that sir?"
Sir? Oooh fancy...wait I'm ordering a pizza...yep moment gone.
I look at Hazel and she shakes her head.
"No thanks"
"That'll be £5 then please"
I hand over the money and we stand waiting when the door rings and someone begins yelling.
"Dan!" Josh yells rushing over with a grin which I groan at but he doesn't quite hear it.
Just great... he comes flirty pants, I wonder who whose latest victim has been? Girl number 320 probably...and I'm not even joking on that one.
"Hazel" he says in a softer tone with a wink, pulling her into a hug.
I'm about to say something when someone grabs my arm I turn to see Ollie with a worried expression and Kirsty next to him who glares at Hazel, her arms folded in front of her and her eyes a blaze as she looks like she could attack at any moment. What is that? Jealousy?
"Let's go somewhere else" she says bitterly ignoring my bewildered expression.
Ollie shakes his head as I try to turn back to Josh.
"Don't Dan you'll make things worse" he warns
"When's she going home?" asks Kirsty
"Kirsty! That's really unlike you what has got into you lately, now come on both of you it seems like I'm the only mature person around without you mate, meet us at the park tomorrow at noon no if's or buts bring Hazel" he says
He finally pries Josh off her and pulls him out of the shop with a confused expression on his face.
"Sorry about him" I apologise to Haze as the man hands us our pizza
"Don't worry about it"
