The morning came, but Mama did not come with it.

I felt something prodding my shoulder. I fluttered my eyes open to see a woman in a business suit. Evan looked over at me, just as confused.

"Hi Katelyn and Evan, I'm Amanda." She said calmly.

"Hi Amanda," Evan said. I just waved.

"I'm here today to tell you something. Your mama, Eliza, she went to Heaven last night." Amanda continued.

Then it dawned upon me.

Mama was dead.

"W-What?! You're lying!" I screamed. Amanda had a look of pain upon her face. "You're a liar!" I screamed, kicking the wall. I didn't even realize I was sobbing.

She wasn't lying.

I wish she was.

I felt a tear flow down my cheek.

"Why did things have to be like this?" I whispered. Evan looked at me with sad eyes.

"Let's go kiddos, we've been here for an hour now," my father spoke up. He started walking to the car and we just followed in silence.
