it was finally belly's 16th birthday, i day and age nobody wanted to actually believe was gonna happen

we all sat in the kitchen, waiting for belly to come downstairs

"morning everyone" belly smiled widely as we l told her happy birthday

"there the birthday girl looking like a vision in floral, happy birthday" susannah hugged her

"happy sweet 16 bells" jere bent down and hugged her as she laughed

when he did hug her, i felt something in my stomach. jealousy. but i have nothing to be jealous of, right?

"happy birthday izzy" i squeezed her and saw her one nickname that she hated

"now belly buttons getting old finally, happy birthday" steven said, eating some bacon

"thanks everyone" belly giggled

"happy birthday sweet heart" mom hugged her "your mikey mouse pancakes are ready"

"actually i'm not really hungry" belly told her loudly

susannah held her hands up and said "shall we open gifts"

jere quick stood up from the stool "oh your gonna love mine"

i sat next to jere on the floor, our shoulders touching each other's

belly opened the gift from mom and it was a book, of course mom got her a book

"i got it from a rare book dealer" mom told belly

"thanks mom" belly said, i could tell she was disappointed

"turn to the bookmarked page" belly did as she was told by our mom and turned the pages "it's you favorite poem" mom looked at suzzie

"oh yeah, i remember susannah teach us to recite this, 'for whatever we lose, like a you or a me it's always our we find in the sea" we all said together

"thank you, i love it" belly closed the book

"open mine now" suzzie handed her the present

"oh wow, they're gorgeous that you susannah" belly smiled

"my mom gave these pearls to me for my sweet 16" suzzie out on her pearls for her "radiant isn't she?"

i handed belly an envelope and she looked at me funny, when she opened it she laughed "classic penny, she got me a penny necklace and a $50 gift card"

"i didn't know what to get you, you've changed" i smirked at her

"hey blake lake" i smiled at him when i saw him at the beach "funny seeing you here"

he laughed and patted the sand next to him "very funny"

i sat down and crossed my legs, i ditched jeremiah and belly since they were going to pick up taylor from the bus stop. but i told them we'd meet up with them later at our pool

"how have you been?" i asked him

" good, you?" he looked at me, he looked pretty good especially with the sun glaring at him

"great" i told him "it's my sisters 16th birthday today, and i was wondering if you wanted to go back to the pool with me to hang out with everyone?"

"that sounds fun" he said "i heard that your a deb, right?"

i laughed and nodded "yep, it's all new to me. not so sure if i love it or hate it yet"

after about an hour we went to the house and we saw conrad and his new girlfriend, nicole, who was also a deb

conrad eyed me but walked behind nicole and i while catching up with blake

we walked in the backyard seeing belly holding jeremiah's hand while sitting on his shoulders. wow, why am i feeling jealous though? it's not like me and jeremiah are together

"hey nicole" belly smiled at her

we all stoped walked and just stared at the two

"hi! happy birthday belly" she smiled then said "are you guys playing chicken?" she asked confused

i laughed, grabbing blake's hand and pulled him to one of the lawn chairs

"um yeah it was taylor's idea" belly looked behind her at a jealous taylor

"hey i'm taylor" she gave nicole a fake smile

why is belly still on jeres shoulders?

"she's my best friend from home" belly exclaimed

"just visiting for the weekend" taylor told her

i took off blake's baggy tee shirt off of me, revealing my swimsuit and my body.

"hey tay tay" i waved at her "this is blake, blake this taylor" i introduced them and stepped down the steps, entering the pool

"hey" she waved at him as blake followed me in the water "boyfriend?" she raised her eyebrows

"not yet" i heard blake say from beside me making me splash him

from the corner of my eye i saw here roll his eyes with a scoff

"do you guys wanna play a real game?" belly asked us and we all nodded and said yes

i sat next to nicole by the side of the pool with our feet in the water, she sat next to conrad and blake sat next to me

here, steven, taylor and belly were playing volleyball in the water, and let me tell you when i saw steven sucks i mean it

"your staring" nicole brought me back to real life "something going on with you and jere?"

i shook my head and acted like i had no clue what she was talking about "nope nothing"

"party at my house tonight" she said, i looked at her with a smirk and she continued "i wanna see you there"
