Story #6- He's A Monster
Written by user my_pityparty
For my 21st birthday, Marisa took it upon herself to take me to a bar; she was happier about it though than I was because she was a year older than me, and now she could finally go clubbing with "her best friend rather than strangers."
More importantly, she said that's a good thing that I got my state I.D. since now I could walk in a bar and get drunk without the bartenders worrying about how old I was.
"You're stupid," I said to her when she kept flashing my card to the bartender each time he brought drinks. Sadly, he was looking at us weird, and I just wanted to leave.
"Yeah, well whatever." She swatted the card down. I smiled, Marisa is crazy, but she is my best friend and I love her. I just wished she would stop embarrassing me from times to times when we went out.
"Can we go home now?" I asked her couple minutes later after taking the fifth shots in one sitting. I just wanted to go home and curled up to a good book instead of being here. Besides, Ethan might be waiting for my call right about now as he worried sick, and wondered where I am.
Marisa leaned over and said that there's a guy checking me out and that I looked good tonight; I slapped her hand and laughed softly, and then I took a glance and there he was. He was talking to a girl, the girl looked annoyed and he was looking uninterested in her.
I turned back to face Marisa; "I've got Ethan, thank you very much. Also, even though tonight is about me ... how are you making all this about you? You're even shipping me with a guy I don't even know, why don't you go over there and make a fool of yourself instead?"
"How rude," she said. "For your information," she pointed at me. "I like you and Ethan, but I just think you deserve more and girl, you need to loosen up."
"You hooked me up with him," I mumbled.
"Yeah but that don't mean you have to marry the guy," she scoffed. "Geez, Mia. Don't you feel tied down sometimes?" She asked and then drank some of her tequila.
I shrugged. A part of me thought that she's right but I never dwelled on it too much. "Whatever," I said.
"I mean, if you watch movies like Addiction and Temptation by Tyler Perry; the woman cheats and you know why?"
"Because they've been traumatized, trust issues, unsatisfied?" I threw in words as I twirled the straw around the ice.
"Exactly!" she exclaimed.
"Exactly what, and to which one?" I raised an eyebrow.
"Unsatisfied, unhappy because they've never been with any other man except for their childhood sweetheart and whatnot so their eyes wonder and then voila."
She looked in her cup, "yuck." She made a face and then signaled our server. "I'm telling you, Mia. You need to get in the water, taste the water. I bet you Ethan is not even the one."
"How would you even know the one?" I asked.
"Are you in love with him?"
I shrugged.
"Do you feel sparks?"
"We have enough electricity from places we meet," I replied.
"Do you think about him constantly? Or does your heart go pitter patter even at the mention of his name."
"Yes," I lied.
"Hm hm," she gave me the stink eye. "You haven't even had sex with him. How long do you expect him to wait?"
"What is your point?" I asked feeling more and more embarrassed. It's my birthday; the last thing I wanted to do right now is talk about my personal life.
"My point is, you're not in love so don't go making plans about marrying someone you're not even sure about."
"Shut up," I said then got off the stool and made my way to the bathroom. While waiting in line, I contemplated what Marisa had said; my relationship with Ethan may not be all that but we were happy, I was happy and why would I change that just because I needed a fling to know whether or not what we had is the real thing.
"Bitch, are you going to go in or not? Some of us out here wants to pee." A girl next to me said, chewing and popping her gum loudly in my ear.
I grimaced and then walked in. The bathroom wasn't dirty nor was it clean either; the sink is caked with makeup residue, in a corner, there's a little couch ... no wonder people were taking long. I went in a stall and nearly choked when I saw unflushed poop in the toilet bowl, worst of all, the tool that flushes it don't work and there's no way that I want to use this bathroom anymore.
I decided that I'm never coming to this club ever again, I took out my sanitizer and walked out of there like I had been caught eavesdropping on a secret that might literally be to die for.
"Let's get out of here," I snatched my purse and jacket.
"Chill, what's the big idea?"
"Whatever," I turned around and made my way out the door.
I checked my phone, it was already midnight; nothing extreme happened and I'm already so tired. I called for a cab and it wasn't until the cab got here that Marisa walked out the club; her arm linked with someone else's and she's drunk and giggling like crazy.
"Damn it," I cursed walking towards her and the guy who was apparently holding her up.
"Is she yours?"
"Yeah, I am so sorry." I said as I pulled her from him.
"Thank you," I looked up at him and smiled. My heart somersaulted and nearly did a back flip when I saw this gorgeous guy standing in front of me; his shade of blue eyes pierced through me, his short and curly hair looked so soft. I cleared my throat. It was the guy from the club; the one Marisa said was checking me out.
"You welcome," he smiled and I almost died.
"D-d-dimples," I stuttered breathlessly.
"I'm sorry?"
"And a British accent," Marisa slurred. I hoisted her up.
"Well thank you again," I turned to leave when the cab driver honked as he parked the car.
I nodded and then walked to the car struggling to put Marisa in the car; not wanting to bent over since I was wearing a short laced mini dress with wedged boots.
"Need help?"
I banged my head while trying to get half my body out the car, "no, it's all good." I smiled and laughed it off. "Thank you," I said again.
"You said that already," he smiled the second time.
"Well bye," I said and got in the cab before the driver could decide to ditch us out.
"You're not even going to tell me your name?"
"Maybe next time," I said and signaled the driver to start the car. I waved again.

When I got home, it was almost one and I had to sneak back in quietly or else mom would chew me out, but right now I just wanted to go bed. Since it was my birthday, she let up curfew and agreed to let me come home later than usual after much convincing from my brother and his girlfriend.
"You're late," someone said in the dark starling me.
"Damn it, Ben. I had to take Marisa home, if you must know." I sighed, "Why are you still awake?"
"Can't sleep," he said.
"Don't you have work later today?" I asked while walking up the stairs in case mom decided to come out and bust me. If she does, I don't think I'd ever be able to go and stay out late ever again.
"Yeah, but I was waiting for you." He yawned.
"The wait is over, now go to bed." I made it upstairs to my room.
Once in, I took off my clothes, took a quick shower and then climbed the bed. Not a minute after, I was in a slumber sleep; I dreamt about blue eyes, and his dimpled smile. I couldn't help but feel that I knew him from somewhere, but right now I just didn't want to think about it. At least, my mind wouldn't let me.
