Mouse, Dog, Bear? I'm a Menace

Honestly, I didn't think my first year at UA could get worse. Break my bones in the entrance exam, break my finger and nearly get expelled the first day, the security breach, my battle with Kacchan, the USJ attack, and my brother apparently being a supervillain.

And yet I found myself standing outside the principal's office. I swallowed, memories of what happened every other time I was called into the principal's office. I couldn't run away, whatever happened beyond this door was my fate, no matter how horrible it might be.

I lifted my hand to knock, but before my hand even touched the door it opened.

"So good to see you, Izuku, you don't mind if I call you that do you? Come in, come in. Would you like a cup of tea?" Nezu grabbed my hand and pulled me inside. In my confusion, I nodded. And after I nodded, I only got more confused.

For one, apparently he keeps actual cups of tea in his desk.

And two, he didn't immediately start yelling at me.

In all honesty, the second one was more of a shock than the first. I wedged my hands between my knees, trying to keep myself from fidgeting. They always hated it when I'd fidget, say its proof I'm guilty. I looked anywhere but him. Even so, I could feel his eyes on me, taking note of my every behavior. Did they find out Tenko is a villain? Do they think I told him about the USJ? No. It can't be that. If they thought I had anything to do with the attack, the police would be here.

"I read the essay you wrote for Aizawa, and I must say I'm intrigued. You show skill in analysis that not many professionals do. Did you have any training?"

I blinked and looked at Nezu. "W-what?"

"My question was a bit abrupt wasn't it. I simply want to know if anyone ever approached you and offered to teach you how to analyze heroes, perhaps in exchange for you sharing it with them?"

"You think I told the villains."

Nezu frowned. "Not at all. It is odd to encounter this level of work and dedication to a hobby in humans your age. It's interesting that your assumption was that. All Might saw a lot of potential in you, and I doubt he was wrong in choosing you as a successor." He took a sip of his tea, completely ignoring my flabbergasted expression. He knew? Well, I guess if All Might wanted to- I snapped out of my thoughts as he continued, "While I admit it is disturbing that the League of Villains was able to so easily attack us, we discovered one of the villains used the chaos created by the media break-in in order to steal a copy of a syllabus, thus explaining why they knew All Might was supposed to be there and why they had no knowledge of the quirks of the students. Back to the matter at hand, why did you think I would accuse you of assisting the villains?"

I swallowed and looked at lap. "I was quirkless up until the day of the entrance exam. Teachers weren't exactly-" My words faltered as a glint appeared in Nezu's eyes. I wouldn't call it homicidal, but it was homicidal. The rest of my words died in my mouth as Nezu pulled my file out of a drawer.

"I thought something was wrong with your file. Normally, we wouldn't accept someone who has this many marks, but All Might had told me about you after the exam. That you were a selfless young man who rushed in to save someone without thinking of your own safety, someone who despite his severe and obvious anger issues, has a spotless record. Of course, all of this was mere speculation. It isn't unusual for those in less than optimal circumstances to lash out, not that I am condoning that of course. But given your behavior in this short amount of time, I am quite certain that your former teachers would use you as a scapegoat for those who had a quirk suited to heroics.

"I think you will find UA has high expectations both of our faculty and students, and of the schools around the country. There are certain, shall we say, boons to having a graduated student attend UA as a hero student, often in the form of grants. This is of course to allow the school to better itself to allow more children the opportunity to follow their dreams. Of course, there are certain stipulations that come with the money, and the school must meet the criteria for the next school year and for the year prior."

Silence. He wanted me to respond. I messed with my sleeve. "Uh, why are you telling me this, sir?"

He smiled and pressed his paws together. "You didn't deny that they would use you as a scapegoat. This is wonderful."

"U-uh, excuse- excuse me?"

"Well, certainly not wonderful for the school I'd imagine. If you had decided to take the blame for everything on your file, they might've gotten away with it. Earlier today I managed to secure security footage from Aldera Junior High, through only the legalist of means, I assure you. I have already sent it to the police, one of whom is a close friend of All Might's."

My eyes widened. Kacchan is going to be pissed? What if he gets expelled? Or what if Mr Aizawa finds out and expels me because I was too weak and useless to fight back or stand up for myself? What if All Might wants me to give up One for All? What if- What if- What if-

Thoughts ran wild through my head and they wouldn't stop. Panic gripped my chest with icy talons, sinking them deeper with ever breath, which in turn only made me hyperventilate. My vision was tunneling. I felt like I was going to die.

Paws rested on my knees. "Izuku, name five things you can see."

"You, the desk, my file, a tea cup, a saucer."

"Good. Now four you can touch."

"My blazer, the chair, my pants, and- and-" Nezu picked up my hand and placed it on his head. "Your fur." I snatched my hand back and quickly steadied my breathing.

"Just how many times have you had to calm yourself from an attack like that?" Nezu asked.

"My teachers didn't like it when I disrupted the class. Sorry." I ducked my head.

"There is nothing to apologize for. As much as I would like to press you on this further, your file wasn't the only reason I wanted to see you. I want you to come here after school every day on Fridays, provided your mother is okay with that. I will use this time not as an extra class for you, but rather as a time where you can relax."

There had to be a catch. If it was too good to be true, it probably was. "Why?"

"You can have a safe place to work on whatever you want, without fear of your belongings being...exploded." Nezu's ears twitched, and his gaze slid towards the door. A minute later and it opened. "Mr Aizawa, what do I owe-"

"Did you happen to-" Dark, tired eyes locked on me. Mr Aizawa turned around and walked out. "Fuck no. I'm not dealing with this shit today." The door slammed behind him.

Nezu laughed. "And that is the second reason."

Nezu wants to mess with anyone in anyway he can, and if he can do it by sitting in a room with Izuku for an hour a week he's going to do it.

See yah
