Maki had a normal day of hard practice, breaks, lunch, and showering. Maki hadn’t seen her roommate all day, assuming she had been with Xander, she thought nothing of it. Once the day was nearing an end, Maki went to walk with Major.

“Hey Major? Where is Ali?” Maki asked.

“She went on a job. She will be gone for a while for at least a week, at most a month.” Major replied, not looking down at Maki.

“Oh, I see.” Maki mumbled. Maki walked to her room to indeed see the room slightly more empty without Alicia and some of her belongings. Maki sighed and sat on her bed, staring at the ceiling, letting thoughts come and go. While spacing out, she just barely heard the faint sound of someone knocking. Maki stood up and pressed the button to open the locked sliding doors. There standing in front of the door was Xander, Andrew, and Alex.

“What are you doing here?” Maki asked.

“Since it’s almost time for dinner, we wanted to come and get you.” Xander smiled.

“Get changed outta your uniform and let’s head to dinner.” Andrew grinned.

“I’m not feeling very well today and I just want to relax for tomorrow.” Maki said quietly.

Alex softly nodded and was the first to respect Maki’s say and left. Xander and Andrew stood for an extra few seconds then left. Maki changed into an oversized tee shirt and undergarments. Maki just sat on the bed and closed her eyes, thinking out loud

“What even happened to home? What happened to Mom?”

There was another knock and Maki groaned, sitting up.

“I said that I don’t want to go to dinner!” Maki yelled in annoyance but it soon faded when she heard Major’s voice. She got up and opened the door and saw Major standing there with a small smile.

“What’s wrong? You don’t want to go to dinner?” Major asked.

“I’m just…. Not hungry, i guess.” Maki replied.

“Then how about we go outside the base for a little while?” Major question.

Maki stared wide eyed.

“Really?” Maki asked enthusiastically. Major nodded.
“Just get some appropriate attire on then we will go.” Major walked out and closed the door.
Maki put a green hoodie with khaki pants on. Maki opened the door and walked out next to Major. Maki grabbed Major’s hand and walked out.

“Where would you like to go?” Major asked.

Maki shrugged. “The forest?”

“Sure it's beautiful there.” Major replied and opened the giant medal doors. They both walked out and started walking to the edge of the forest when a huge green/light brown Army Ambulance pulled up next to Major. Major turned to the Ambulance and grabbed Maki, quickly getting in.

“Who is in the back?’” Major asked.

“It's Alicia. She was able to hold out long enough to get in the back but she was shot twice in the stomach.” The driver replied.

Maki hugged herself and looked in the back to see Alicia hooked up to multiple tubes with a doctor putting pressure on the wound.

The Ambulance pulled into a giant garage that lead to the hospital area. Major got out, still holding Maki. The doctors hurriedly got the stretcher out from the back and rushed her into the emergency area. Maki hid her face in Major’s shoulder.

“I’m sorry Maki.” Major said sadly while picking Maki up. Maki hid her face into Major’s shoulder while silently crying.

“She isn’t going to die...is she?” Maki cried louder and gripped Major’s shirt.

Xander came over and picked Maki up.

“I will take her to my room and she can be my temporary roommate until Alicia get better.”

Maki cuddled into Xander and fell asleep from exhaustion. Major nodded and went to help Alicia and the doctors. Major walked to one of the documenting doctors who wrote on Alicia’s health and injuries.

“How is she?” Major asked, calmly.

“She isn't doing well. They can’t find the bullets that are in her chest and she lost a lot of blood from the barbed wire.” The doctor replied sadly. “It really is unfortunate that this happened to her. She was and still is a great soldier.”

“What are you implying, Mate?” Major said slowly.

“She most likely won’t make it.” The doctor said in a monotone voice.

“Well work your hardest.” Major walked out and stood in the hallway. “She might not make it… huh.”

Maki was crying in Xanders shirt, mumbling incoherent words. Xander was sitting on his bed, holding Maki in his lap, trying to comfort her.

“Maki.. Alicia will be okay. Please calm down.”

“I Can’t Lose another!! I already lost my brother and mother and father!!” Maki cried harder, slowly turning into hiccups and sobs.

“Maki, you’re a strong and beautiful little girl. I’m sure that Alicia will be okay and she would want you to be strong for her right now.” Xander said while small tears formed in his eyes.

Maki’s cries and hiccups slowly faded and she yawned.

“I’m heading to my room. We will find out about Alicia tomorrow. Best get some rest.” Maki smiled and left the room.
