Chapter 1
Ari pulled her long, milk chocolate-colored hair into a high ponytail. Her bangs still covered her right eye, though. She wore a loose black short-sleeved shirt, dark denim skinny jeans, and black ankle boots.
Ari had nothing with her except the clothes on her back. She boarded the train to Magnolia.
I just have to find them, she thought. They can help me.
"Bye, mom!" Will ran out of his house waving. His backpack hit his back with every step. He was headed to from the center of town to the northern edge. Will was a wizard and wanted to join the strongest guild around. The Fairy Tail guild hall rose above the other buildings in the area. It was easy to find.
Will weaved through the crowded sidewalks of Magnolia Town. He wasn't paying much attention to his surroundings. His foot caught on an uneven stone in the walkway, and Will felt himself falling through the air. The canal's cold waters seemed to beckon him towards them. It was an invitation Will couldn't turn down, seeing as he was tumbling straight towards the water.
Inches above the canal, he stopped. Will was floating just above the water waiting to hit and holding his breath. He opened his eyes after a few seconds. "Whoa," was all he managed to say.
He was lifted back onto the sidewalk. Will picked his helper out of the crowd easily. She studied him for a minute with the piercing green eye that wasn't hidden under her hair. The last remnants of the magic circle faded into the wind. The girl darted away.
Will chased after her. "Hey! Wait. I need to thank you," he ran as fast as he could, but she ran faster. He lost sight of her in an alley.
Where did she go? Will turned in a circle. The alley had deadended, and he was positive that the only way to get out would be to go back. Will clenched his fist. His curiosity only grew stronger when he heard footsteps behind him, but saw no person.
Ari frowned as she walked towards the Fairy Tail guild hall. She knew they were partially at fault for what had happened to her family, but Ari needed their help. She could barely control her magic. It only did what she wanted in some emergencies. The fiasco with the boy just then had been surprising to her.
Ari gazed up at the Fairy Tail building. The three banners hanging off the top floor windows looked old. The sign above the door had a nice shine to it. She took a deep breath and pushed the door open.
It was complete and utter chaos inside. Ari's jaw dropped. Almost all of the wizards were fighting. A pink haired boy started attacking a dark blue haired one with fire. The latter retaliated with ice. A tall white haired burly man shouting stuff about fighting like a man smacked both of them with an arm that looked like a monster's. A cute blonde girl was desperately trying to stop the fighting.
Ari shook her head to clear it. When she had completely calmed down, she started listening. 'I'll never get used to this,' the blond desperately thought. 'I'll show them what a real man fights like!' the white haired guy thought. All of their thoughts streamed into Ari's mind. She sorted them out and assigned thought to person.
'Stop fighting,' Ari shoved the thought into everyone's minds. Everyone in the room stared at her. She calmly continued out loud, "You all want something specific out of these fights, but none of you will get them this way. I thought this guild, the strongest one around, would be a good place to sort out my emotions and harness my magic, but I was wrong. I guess it was crazy for me to leave Clover Town in search of the ones responsible for the deaths of my whole family and my friends and expect them to be useful. I'm sorry to interrupt." Ari stared each and every Fairy Tail wizard down. She turned on heel and started to walk away.
A hand grabbed her wrist. Ari was pulled to face the person. A single tear fell to the floor from underneath her bangs.
"I don't know who you are or what you're talking about," the pink haired guy said, "but you have no right to talk to Fairy Tail that way. I don't know what we did. No one in Fairy Tail would purposely take the life of anyone. I swear."
"Natsu's right," the boy with dark blue hair said. "For once." he murmured.
"Hey! What's that supposed to mean, Gray?" Natsu shouted.
Gray ignored him. "Whoever you think did this never would've meant to."
Ari failed to keep her emotions in check. "That's some speech coming from two of the culprits! It's your fault!" A magic circle appeared at her feet. Natsu and Gray were surrounded by a purple glow and lifted into the air. Ari continued, "If you hadn't brought the demon to town, everyone I knew and loved would be alive!"
Ari started screaming as the room seemed to lose gravity. Wizards were lifted off their feet, hair floated around heads as if water had been poured into the room, and Ari was the only one on the ground.
"What's happening?" the blonde asked. "Is she really doing all of this?"
"It would appear so," a redhead replied. "Earlier, she said that she needed to 'sort out her emotions and harness her magic'. I assume that because she hasn't mastered it, her magic is being controlled mostly by emotion."
Ari slowly seemed to come back to her senses. The Fairy Tail wizards were dropped to the ground.
"I have to go," Ari ran for the door. It was thrown open in front of her.
Will stepped in. He looked around. Totally oblivious to how things were scattered around and people were staring up at him from the ground, he grinned, "Oh yeah! This place is even cooler than I thought it would be!" Will turned around to close the door when he finally noticed Ari. "You're that girl who stopped me from falling into the canal. I never got to thank you. You sure can run fast. Are you here to join Fairy Tail, too? What a coincidence! I had no-"
Ari cut him off. "Shut up. I'm not joining this guild. Leave. Me. ALONE." She ran out the door without any hesitation.
"What's her problem?" Will wondered aloud. "I just wanted to thank her."
Author's Note: I probably should've talked more last time. *scratches head then shrugs* Oh well! Umm... Anything I need to fix? Don't hesitate to tell me. After I publish chapters 2 and 3 I'm only going to publish every other day. I'm not going to say "plz no hate plz" 'cause I find that annoying. I plan on not doing anything I find annoying (though I might fail). See ya!
