제 2 장 (Chapter 2)

"Argh! —I swear I almost got it!" I shout feeling frustrated about the event that just occurred. If you guys think it's about that handsome train buddy then you are not entirely wrong, I mean some part of me is still curious about the guy but the bigger problem lies in front of my face now, well, feet actually.

The Lutz, it's when a skater jump is the opposite side of its entry. Counting to this moment, the hardest Lutz, triple Lutz, belongs to the Olympic gold medalist Kim Yu-Na, whose strongest jump is her textbook Lutz. If you love figure skating, she's literally the queen of ice from Korea, if we have Yuzuru Hanyu from Japan as the king then she's the queen.

Anyway, the Lutz is also what I've been practicing these few months in my brain. I honestly think my brain got the hang of it, but I can't say the same for my legs, they're not working synchronically. I can say that I'm proud of myself for doing two Lutz but I want the triple, I've been looking forward to the day that I can do it, but I guess that'll have to wait.

"Don't worry Jin Ae, you're almost there" Bokie said to me with a smile on her face as she approached me, she's also wearing her skating gear which consists of black leggings followed with a training jacket and a pair of ice skate. Since the training jacket had our rink logo on it, all of the skaters had to wear it like a uniform, including me.

"I hope so" I sigh and wander my eyes to the other side of the rink, a girl wearing our rink training jacket was practicing her triple Lutz, the difference with me?

She's like a carbon copy of Kim Yu-Na, if Kim Yu-Na is an international queen she's probably like our Walkerhill Ice Rink princess.

Hong Sun Jung, our Walkerhill Ice Rink mascot, out of all the skaters here, which include me, Bokie, Sun Jung, and her sidekick Soo Yun—she's probably the most talented and also the most fortunate girl. She had the perfect family with the perfect financial condition, while me and Bokie got admitted to this ice rink because of the pity of our coach, she literally payed for her training lesson here in Walkerhill, seeing that this rink is the second best ice rink in Seoul next to Mokdong Ice Rink who only accept boys as their skaters.

I swear if Mokdong accept girl skaters Sun Jung will get there eventually.

"Just don't look at her, the more you look, the bigger her head is—I wonder why coach still accept her with her awful personality, I mean being amazing on ice is one thing but if you have a bad attitude it will all just be a waste of time and talent" Bokie said as she shook her head and turn my body to the opposite direction.

I can't agree more to her on that point though. I guess being treated as a princess at home and on ice really gets to her brain, I wouldn't say that she's a brat but she almost become like one, if not now, it will be sometime soon.

The bell signaling our lunch break is heard through the whole rink, these days our rink rarely accepts visitors because our preparation for the national championship. It's both good and bad actually, good because there's less people for my introverted self and bad because it's also one of the biggest money source for this ice rink.

No people means no money, that means my existence on this rink is in danger.

"Hey, Jin Ae, I was just wondering—" I raised my eyebrow at her question while untying my ice skate laces.

"As to why you don't answer my text this morning? I did it for your goodness, I was reminding you unconsciously about the punishment that you will get if you're late and yet you still had the tendency to not answer with a simple thanks or okay" she rambled about her text this morning and my mind suddenly drifted to a certain somebody.

Now that I think of it, his face seems familiar.

Did I really have met him before?

"Who is he?" I mumbled to myself quietly.

"Who is who?" Bokie appeared in front of my face way to close.

"Don't you know personal space? It's kind of a thing now" I said to her with an annoyed look. She stood back up from her position previously and raised an eyebrow.

Damn, I don't need a detective Bokie right now.

"Nobody" I said to her as she sends me another curious look.

"Spill it, if it's because this person that you're ignoring my text then I need to know" Bokie said while holding both of my shoulders tightly, if she broke it I'm pretty sure my career as a figure skater is crashed.

"Okay, okay, I'll tell you, but do you mind letting go of my shoulders first? This can be counted as a harassment; don't you think?" I said as she smiled sheepishly and wasted no time in letting go of my shoulders.

There's literally no point in hiding things from Bokie, she'll get it out of me one way or another, trust me, been there done that.

"It's actually nothing, really, I just met this weird guy at the train station this morning and even though he's not the main reason why I don't answer your text, he's part of it, only this little though" I explained as I squint my index finger and thumb closely to each other.

"Who is the guy?" Bokie asked with a raised eyebrow.

"I don't know? I literally saw him on the right side of the station while I'm on the left side, but he seems to be a figure skater too though, he's bringing his gears" I shrugged.

"Then what did he do to make you notice him?" Bokie squint her eyes and take a closer look at my face. I sigh and push her shoulders back a little bit to have a decent space between us.

"He smiled, the kind of smile with dimples on both side of his cheeks" I said as I point at my own cheeks.

"HOLY! SWEET JESUS! THAT'S GOLD!" Bokie eyes became big and she shouted which brings unwanted attention towards us, even Sun Jung and Soo Yun is looking at us weirdly, I just smiled sheepishly at the staffs and the others as I close Bokie's mouth with my hands.

"Can you keep the excitement to yourself? Don't need to tell the whole world about it" I hissed and finished tying my sneakers quickly, I would rather eat than talk about this any longer—it's just a stranger anyway, I don't need to get too serious.

"But, from how you picture him, he looks soo handsome?" Bokie said as she followed my quick steps towards the cafeteria. I rolled my eyes at her comment.

"Attention skaters! Urgent meeting, I have something exciting to tell you guys!" coach Sun Hee said as she smiled widely.

There goes my first meal of the day.

Personally, whenever our coach smiled like that, on most occasions, I didn't like it.
