Chapter 22

Mia's POV

Camelot Six Weeks Ago

"So, how long have you had Nicodemus?" Henry asked Violet one day in the stables. We had just finished with another ride and we're putting the horses away. "My mother gave him to me for my seventh birthday. She was a champion rider. But, um... she passed away before I even learned to gallop," Violet told us.

"My dad died before I really got the chance to know him. There's just so much I wish I could tell him. You know?" Henry said. "Yes. I do know," Violet sighed. "Both of my parents died," I whispered. "I'm so sorry," Violet told me. "I'm sorry about your mom too," I said.

"I've never met anyone I could talk to about this before," Violet told us. Violet looked at me and then at Henry. She stared at him for a while and I started to get annoyed. "Well, we should get going," I said. "Oh, okay. I'll see you later," Violet smiled.

I grabbed Henry's hand and we walked out. Henry smiled and said, "Someone was in a hurry to get out of there." "Did you not see the way she was staring at you?" I asked. Henry laughed and we walked towards the castle. We passed a huge stone and Henry walked over to it.

"What's that, lady Mia? If I pull Excalibur from this stone, I will be forever your hero?" Henry asked. I chuckled. He pretended to pull a sword out of the stone. "My hero," I laughed. He chuckled and came back over to me. "I'm with you, remember that," Henry told me.

I nodded and we got back to the castle. I yawned and said, "I think I'm going to go take a nap. See you later." I kissed him on the cheek and headed towards my room. When I got back to my room I passed out. I woke up an hour later to a knock on my door and then a note going underneath. I got up and picked up the note. It read:

"Meet me at Granny's tonight.
xoxo
Henry"

I smiled and turned around. I looked up and jumped to see someone else in the room. "Emma, you scared me. How'd you get in here?" I asked her. "Doesn't matter," Emma said. "What's wrong?" I asked. "Mia. Can you keep a secret?" Emma asked.

"Of course," I told her. "Good, because Henry can't know about this," Emma told me. Emma plunged her hand into my chest. She pulled her hand out and my heart was in her hand. I gasped for air. "Mia, listen," Emma said. I kept gasping. "You will get this back. I just need your help first," Emma told me.

"W-w-what do you need?" I asked. "I need the tear of a lost fist love... a fresh tear. I need you to break Henry's heart," Emma told me. "W-what?" I asked. "I need you to go to Granny's and break his heart," Emma said. "But I don't want to. I love him," I told Emma.

She squeezed my heart a little and an agonizing pain went through my body. She let go. I gasped for air. "Do it or next time it will hurt a whole lot more," Emma demanded. A tear rolled down my face as I said, "I'll do it."

Emma smiled and said, "Good. As soon as I get what I need, you'll get what you need." I nodded and she left. I cried as I got up off the floor and went to put on my dress. I looked at myself in the mirror and wiped away my tears. I left the room and headed towards Granny's. When I arrived, I opened the door and music filled my ears.

"Looking from a window above
It's like a story of love
Came back only yesterday
I'm moving farther away
Want you near me
All I needed was the love you gave," I smiled as the familiar song greeted me. My smile faded when I saw Henry walk up to me with a big smile.

"Uh... hi, m'lady. I mean, uh, Mia. I mean... P-please sit down," Henry said. I chuckled. "Thank you," I smiled as I sat down. Henry sat down right next to me and smiled.

"Sometimes when I think of her name When it's only a game," the song continued.

"I was really happy to get your note," I said. "You were?" Henry asked. "Y-Yes," I stammered. Henry smiled at me and my heart started to break as I remembered what I had to do. "Are you okay?" Henry asked. "Yes, I mean no..Yes," I said.

Henry looked at me confused. His smile returned as he handed me a soda. I opened it and said, "Finally, something other than water." Henry laughed and I eagerly drank the soda. "Granny had some lasagna in the fridge that didn't go bad, so I was able to heat it up," Henry told me.

He set some lasagna on the table and I grinned. "So, I thought after dinner, we could watch a movie. Ah. It's easier if I show you. On my phone. If I'd known we were coming, I would've loaded more, but I brought "Commando" and "Harold and Maude." We'll do "Harold and Maude." It's a good date movie, I think," Henry told me.

"Date?" I asked with a smirk. Henry nodded and said, "If that's okay with you." I nodded, "I'm okay with that." He smiled and leaned in and kissed me. Instead of the normal sparks, I felt guilt. It's because my heart wasn't in my body. It's because I was going to have to break Henry's heart.

We pulled away and Henry whispered, "I love you." My eyes filled with tears. Some rolled down my face. "Mia, what's wrong?" Henry asked. I shook my head and stood up. "I'm sorry Henry. I'm so so sorry," I started to cry.

"Mia, what are you talking about?" Henry asked. I heard a voice say in my head, "Do it." I started to cry more. Henry got up and stepped towards me. "I... I can't be with you anymore," I whispered. Henry looked at me confused, "What?" "I can't be with you," I said.

"You're breaking up with me?" Henry asked. "I'm sorry," I whispered. "Is this a joke? You're going to laugh and then kiss me and say you love me now aren't you?" Henry asked smiling. I shook my head, "I don't love you. I can't be with you."

His smile faded and hurt flashed through his eyes. "What..." Henry whispered. "I'm so sorry," I said. I ran out of Granny's with tears streaming down my face. I ran until I heard a voice, "You can stop running now." I stopped when I realized the voice was Emma's. I turned and she shoved my heart back into my chest. The pain and guilt I had got a lot worse.

"Why would you do that? And to your own son!" I cried. "I needed to do what would get rid of the darkness. I did what was best for everyone, including him," Emma stated. I shook my head. "You only did what was best for you," I spat. I turned and walked away.

I was broken and the only person that could fix me was the person who I left alone at Granny's.
