Chapter 2
Mia's POV
I smiled at my newly finished drawing. I was in the car on my way to Maine and had decided to draw a picture. It was a town and there was a big clock tower which was also a library in the center. How did I come up with the idea of this town? I don't know.
Once in a while I get these visions and I get an urge to draw whatever I see. I looked flipped the pages of my sketchbook and looked at the different pictures. One of them was of a lady with long black hair. She was holding a bow and it was snowing all around her. Another one was of a lady with black hair which was up in a bun, a black gown, and she was holding an apple in her hand.
I stopped at my favorite drawing. It was a boy. He has brown hair and was wearing a black jacket. He held a book which had the title 'Once Upon A Time' and he was looking through it. I looked closely at the book. For some reason it was oddly familiar. I shook off the thought when something hit our car. Everything went black.
I opened my eyes and saw that our car was flipped on its side. I cried as I saw my mother and father covered in blood. "Mama? Papa?" I asked while shaking them. They didn't wake up. I checked their pulses and cried when nothing happened. They're gone..
I quickly checked to see if my brother was ok. I couldn't loose him too. I turned around and saw my brother looking at me with fear in his eyes.
"Are Mama and Papa ok?" He asked. I felt tears rolling down my face as I shook my head no. He started crying and I unbuckled him and then held him close. We had to get out of here. "Matt, grab your stuff. We have to get out of here before the police come and end up taking us away," I said. He nodded and wiped away his tears.
We grabbed our stuff and I grabbed Matt's hand. We got out of the car carefully and before we left I whispered, "Mama, Papa, we love you." I pulled my hand away from the car and felt one tear roll down my face.
I held on to Matt's hand and we walked away from the car. I heard sirens and I ran. I couldn't go to an orphanage. My grandparents couldn't take care of us so they would give us to the orphanage. Our aunt couldn't, she is still heart broken about the disappearance of our uncle, my other grandparents are dead, and my father was an only child so there are no more people to take us.
Matt ran with me and we ran into the woods. We ran and ran until I couldn't hear the sirens anymore. I stopped to make sure I couldn't hear anything. "Matt, I think we are safe. Let's go back onto the side of the road," I said. "Ok Mia," he said. We walked out of the woods and went onto the road. I looked around. What happened to all of the cars?
I walked down the road and noticed a tie wrapped around the branch of a tree. Weird. I kept walking with Matt's hand in mine. All of a sudden the scenery changed. Instead of just an empty road there was a little town. What is going on. Matt squeezed on to my hand.
He probably didn't think this was weird, he is a 5 year old. I looked closely at the town. Why does it look familiar? I noticed a little clock tower that was also connected to a library. My eyes widened as I grabbed my sketchbook. I held up the picture of the town and compared what I was seeing to my drawing. They were exactly alike! What is going on?
"Hey Mia! It's your little town!" Matt exclaimed smiling. I smiled back a fake smile at him and put my sketchbook away. I grabbed his hand and walked into the town. I saw a boy walking down the street with a lady with blonde hair. "Holy cheezits," I said as I recognized the boy. He was the boy from my drawings. I think I've finally lost it.
No, maybe I'm dead. Yep, I died in the car crash and now I'm in heaven. The boy noticed us and tapped the lady next to him. She turned around and walked towards us. "Hi, my name is Emma Swan. Can I ask you what are your names and what are you doing here?" She asked.
"Why do I have to tell you?" I asked her as I pushed Matt so that he was protected behind me. "I'm the sheriff," she said. "Oh," was all I could say. Matt whispered from behind me, "I'm Matt and this is my sister Mia." "Well, it's nice to meet you. Sorry for asking but how did you get here?" Emma asked. "I don't know. We were walking along an empty road and suddenly we were in this town," I told Emma.
I pointed to the boy and asked, "Who's the boy?" "I'm Henry," Henry said as he held out his hand. I shook his hand. "Where are your parents?" Henry asked. I felt tears in my eyes and I heard Matt start to cry. I bent down and held Matt closely. "Matt, it's going to be ok. I'm still here," I whispered in his ear.
I got back up with Matt in my arms. "Our parents died in a car crash about 30 minutes ago," I whispered as I felt tears rolling down my face. I looked down and then felt someone's arms around me. I looked up and saw Emma. I hugged her back.
"You can stay with us kid," Emma said. I thanked her and followed her to her apartment with Matt by my side. We went in and I was shown to my own little room where Matt and I would be staying. I sat down on the bed and hugged Matt. Emma and Henry left while we sat there holding each other close.
A little while later Henry walked in with a book. Omg, it's the book from my drawings. Why does this keep happening to me? Henry sat down and placed the book down. "Hey Mia, it's the book from your drawings," Matt said. "What drawings?" Henry asked.
I took out my sketchbook and handed it to Henry. He flipped through the pages and asked, "How did you draw these? How did you know about these people and places?" "I don't know, it just came to me," I told him. "Well, all of these things are real. This is Snow White and this is the Evil Queen," Henry said as he pointed to my pictures. "I thought you said they were real. Snow White and the Evil Queen aren't real," I said.
Henry picked up his book, "That's why I came in here. You see this book? It's filled with fairytales and all of these stories are real. They actually happened."
