Chapter 14 - Saint or Sinner?

Khushali laughed harder and her eyes watered because of so much laughing. But she didn't notice that Mayera's laugh already faded and now was only a weak smile lingering on her lips, which clearly projected her inner turmoil which Khushali didn't know a thing about. She felt her heart broke again knowing well what she was mercilessly going to wipe that smile, that happiness from Khushali's life and she had no other choice!

When Khushali didn't stop laughing even after ten long minutes, Mayera kept her hand Khushali's shoulder, and in a strange tone, said, "Khushali stop laughing please, it's not good to laugh so much because that jinx our happiness. Too much laughing is rather scary because we don't know if it'll stay persistent tomorrow or will be replaced with grief and pain."

"No Khushali I haven't seen either Sidharth or Mayera here. I think they might be there," suggested Raima, indicating towards the north of where she was standing with Khushali.

"Oh okay Raima! I don't know where all of a sudden they both went. Just few minutes back, before walking over to Mr. Pathak to discuss about guests, I've introduced them both. Then where did they go in course of just five minutes?" muttered Khushali in utter confusion and slight suspicion.

"You seem to not trust my words Khushali, is it because of your not-so-saintly husband's fake love? I know it's rude and upsetting but my ex sister-in-law, my cousin brother was always the better match for you than this cheater you call your husband," Vivan said disdainfully.

"If it's rude then you shouldn't have said that. And for your kind information Vivan, Sidharth's as good as Sagar and just because he's not around here with me that doesn't mean he's cheating around with someone. So please don't talk rubbish about my husband just because he married your deceased cousin's fiancée," said Khushali indignantly with hints of uncertainty in her voice.

A tiny part in her brain, was starting to believe what all Vivan had told in last some minutes as the Vivan she knew, always had her and Sagar's best interests at heart and was very supportive and caring towards her. And also because his facts and reasonings made her doubts look acceptable and right enough to make her realise that Sidharth wasn't what he showed himself to her all these months after their marriage, rather he was actually hiding a great deal of truth from her.

But her heart, which was trying its best to empower her restless mind, refraining her from getting to any conclusion, didn't wish to trust Vivan's words now as it wasn't willing to once again accept the betrayal from someone she loved so deeply and get shattered again into million pieces.

"I love you Sid!" said Mayera in a love filled voice as she took Sidharth in an affectionate hug.

"I love you too Mia!" said Sidharth hoarsely, pulling Mayera more into his warm embrace.

And some feet away from them, Khushali felt her world shatter to minute bits, one more time, worse than before as this time she wasn't even given a forewarning. Her heart, which had just learnt to love again, bled in her chest as once again she was gifted betrayal as reward for her unselfish love.

Chapter 15 - The Cheater, the Liar and the Broken Angel

"So yesterday was the first time you had met Mayera, haan Sidharth? Or have you met her before?" asked Khushali in an as normal voice as she could manage.

Tying his tie, Sidharth turned to her and with an innocent tone, said, "Of course not wifey, I told you before already that yesterday was the only time I met Mayera. She's polite and cool, and really I appreciate your both's efforts for the event."

Khushali nodded and turned her back to him, pretending to busy herself with her arranging her books. She felt her already broken heart, break again as Sidharth once again lied to her. She felt her body weaken again but tried her best to not break down in front of her husband, who didn't flinch even once while telling her all the lies.

Khushali turned and saw the love of her life, Sagar Malhotra, leaning against the door of her bedroom with a charming smile adoring his boyish face. She returned his contagious smile and began to walk upto him.

But just as she reached near him, she saw him turn into the one person she didn't wish to see at this moment, Sidharth Mehra, her husband, who kept her in dark for last seven months with his lies and hollow promises.

She blinked her eyes twice to make sure she wasn't hallucinating Sidharth, but he didn't disappear rather he was now standing beside Mayera, who had her arms wrapped around his waist as she hugged him and he returned her gesture by putting his arms around her shoulders, in the same manner he had hugged Khushali several times. And then both of them started speaking the same words of love, which broke Khushali's world in just a fraction of second, the previous night.

And then Khushali woke up, realizing that it was all, nothing, but a dream, which only reminded her of the torturous situation her life was in, her broken heart, her shattered soul and the betrayal of two people, she never thought would do this to her.

"Yeah your husband is very polite and adorable. I must say you're very lucky to have him in your life," complimented Mayera as she took a sip of her black coffee.

"Hmm that he is, I told you already. But Mayera don't you think just a small five minute conversation with someone is not enough to know them that well. So how do you know he went abroad for his further studies, because sharing this information in a small formal conversation doesn't make sense to me," said Khushali innocently, hiding every bits of her anger and bitterness well in her voice.

"Tell me the truth Mayera! I want to know each and every truth, you've been hiding from me for so long. And don't you dare try to avoid this confrontation now!" Khushali warned Mayera in an infuriated tone.

Mayera, scared slightly, first tried to think of an excuse to turn Khushali down, but now seeing Khushali this angry, she knew Khushali won't accept anything less than truth now.

So she took a deep breath and said defiantly, "Okay I'll tell you the entire truth. But I want to call someone here before I reveal everything because there are things he would explain you better than I could do."
