Chapter 27
Hello friends! Summer is almost ending ;-;
I BLAME GEORGE EACKER (did I spell his name right? I'm too lazy to check.)!!!!!!! FIRST PHILIP THEN SUMMER! HOW DARE THEE!
Anyways, WHO LIKES FLUFFY STUFF! If not, then TOO BAD! YOU'RE GONNA GET SOME!
The sisters were running around the house, grabbing makeup from one of their five million drawers. The ball was in an hour, and you were almost ready. Your dress was on, and your hair was done in a runaround long braid. The dress did have a corset, which you were particularly not fond of, only this one was more comfortable than others.
Mulligan must've known that you didn't like them. The one thing different about your dress was that it had no hoop at the bottom, letting it fall to the floor naturally, but elegantly. It was a light emerald green, unlike Peggy's, who was decked out, unsurprisingly, in a light yellow.
"Oh my gosh!" Peggy exclaimed, twirling in front of a tall mirror. "Hercules Mulligan is truly talented." She had also put on the dress he had made for her.
"I'm really excited for tonight!" You squealed, when Eliza was done with your makeup. You looked in the mirror. Dark red lipstick, with everything else looking pretty natural. You smiled at your reflection and turned to Eliza.
"Girl! I swear you do makeup as good a Herc makes dresses!" You exclaimed, causing the middle sister to smile. "I wouldn't be so sure." Peggy commented from the background, still examining her dress. Eliza glared at her. "Thanks a lot Peggy." She said sarcastically, as Peggy stuck out her tongue.
"Now dear Peggy," You joked, "There is no need for this childish behavior over a small crush." Angelica laughed as Peggy's face turned tomato red. "Correction. A huge crush!" She laughed again.
It was fun to hang out with the Schuyler sisters. You were always guaranteed a good laugh around them. A loud doorbell interrupted you from you thought. "The guests are here!" Eliza cried, sprinting out the door. The rest of you followed. When she opened the doors, a flood of people came in. You and the sisters greeted them all.
When everyone was inside, the four of you raced to the ballroom. You gasped, admiring the beauty of it. You had been in the ballroom once or twice, but when the Schuylers started decoration it, the room became off limits.
You waltzed right on over to the snack bar, immediately shoving your face with delicious treats such as scones and tarts. You only paused in mid chew when you felt a tap on your shoulder. You swallowed the last piece of pie in your mouth and turned around.
"Oh! Hi Laurens!" You said happily. He chuckled a little. "Hello to you too, Y/n!" He reached out his arm toward you, wiping a missed piece of pie of your cheek. "You git some there." He said while doing so. You blushed deeply, embarrassed.
"I'm sorry if I interrupted you from snacking." He smiled, and you giggled at the comment. "No, it's fine." You insisted. "Well, I came over to ask you," He bowed slightly, extending his arm, "May I have this dance?"
You took his hand, smiling. "Of corse you may." The two of you stepped on to the dance floor, starting a simple waltz. "You know you already asked me to the ball, right?" You couldn't keep a smile off your face. "You didn't need to ask me again."
"Yes, I know, but things didn't really go as I had planned, because you were already at the Schuyler mansion, so it just seemed right that I asked again." He replied softly. You laid your head on his shoulder. "Well I'm glad you did, or I might have inhaled the entire snack table."
He laughed at your comment, making your heat flutter. Another slow song started as you changed the dance. More complicated steps this time, but it seemed as if you were dancing along with the wing. John twirled you around, and slowly brought you back towards him.
"I'm glad I ran into each other that night." You said, recalling the first night you met. Even from the first time you saw him, the feeling in your heart had never faded away or dulled whenever you saw his face.
He closed in the gap between your faces, kissing you softly. You never wanted this moment to end. You wanted it to be this way forever. You never thought that everything, including your life would end as quickly as it had started.
