You ran towards the noise with John and the Schuyler sisters. Another crowd had formed around two other people, blocking them from sight. You couldn't find Alex, but you did see Hercules and Lafayette. You pushed past some people to get tho them.

"Oh, hey Y/n." Herc said, looking at you and John. When he saw the sisters, his expression immediately turned surprised. He nudged Lafayette who started to greet you but paused like Hercules had done. They both gave you questioning looks, but you ignored them. "Why the heck did you three run off, where's Alex anyway?" Lafayette pointed towards the front, and you knew for sure that one of the arguing men was he. You groaned and stomped towards the front, John followed close behind you, but the sisters stayed behind so they could introduce themselves.

You pushed through the crowd, emerging at the center, just in time to see your brother get shoved by some guards. He fell backwards in your direction. You caught him before he hit the ground. "Thanks." He turned around, brushing himself off, but when he saw you he stopped.

"Y-Y/n! Heh.. um, how's it going." He couldn't look you in the eye. You slowly let out a breath and said. "I came to apologize for how I acted earlier. I-I just .." Alex put a hand on your shoulder. "Y/n, it's okay. I should be the one apologizing. So, I'm sorry too." You gave Alex a hug.

"Okay, so now that that's behind us, what the heck were you doing!?" You said to him. "Oh, come on," Alex groaned, "The British wimp had some "free thought on the proceedings of the Continental Congress.'" He said the last part in a mocking tone. You could hear John trying not to laugh.

"You know what, it's getting late." You said, looking at the setting sun on the horizon. "Washington is letting me stay at his house until I find my own."

"Okay, so you accept Washington's offer, but not mine?" John asks. "You're already risking your life to house slaves, John, I don't want to interfere with that." You said. His face lit up in amusement. "You said John."

"Darn it."

"What's that supposed to mean?" Alex asked, clearly confused. "It's a long story." John replied.

"I'll be more careful next time," You laughed, "but anyway, I should get going." You started to turn, but then remembered the Schuylers. "Oh wait, I gotta go tell the others good bye!" You rushed over to where they were last standing. You could see that they were still talking with Lafayette and Hercules.

"Hey guys," you interrupted the conversation that they were having, "I gotta go, but I'll probably see you soon."

"Yeah come visit us!" Eliza said. Peggy ran up and gave you a friendly hug. Angelica looked at you and said, "We're having a Winter's Ball soon. You should come!" Out of the corner of you eye, you could see Lafayette glance longingly at Angelica. "That sounds great!" You replied to their offer. Then you looked over at the boys. "I'll see you guys later, right?" Herc gave you a thumbs up. You could see it was getting darker, so you said one last quick 'Bye' and dashed off.

While you were speed walking down the road, you saw John walking towards his house, so you quickened you already fast pace.

"Laurens! It's been so long! Like what 10 minuets?" You said jokingly once you caught up to him. "More like 5, but oh, I've missed you so much!" He said dramatically, joining in with your humor. He suddenly stopped.

"Hey, Y/n, you want me to walk with you to Washington's?"

"Why not?"

The two of you walked, again, hand in hand down to the General's house, talking cheerfully along the way. You finally saw the nice house in the distance. The house, more like mansion, was beautiful. You couldn't believe that they were letting you, an orphan, stay here. You turned back to John after reaching the porch.

"Thanks for walking with me."

"It was my pleasure." John replied. He quickly kissed you one last time for the day and turned to go. You gave one last wave.

Now you faced the door, took a deep breath in, and opened it. Inside, The General and his wife were just getting ready to eat. You closed the door behind you and looked around. Light and warmth filled the room.

"Y/n! You're here!" Washington said happily. "Come have a seat!"

You sat in the comfy chair and smiled at the Washingtons. "Y/n we're so gad to have you over! You are certainly a brave, young girl," Martha Washington complimented, "I couldn't wait to meet you in person!"

"Thank you Mrs. Washington, for letting me stay, this food," You looked eagerly at the feast that was on the table, then at George Washington, "and for everything."

"Dear, you don't have to call me Mrs. Washington. Call me Martha!" You nodded politely.

"Y/n," It was the General speaking now, "I hope you know that it is such a pleasure to have you here. I thought I should inform you on what is happening soon." You had started eating, but you showed that you were listening too. "As you may know, a while back, our spies that we had sent out early have been in Britain for a couple of weeks now. They have reported their findings back to me. The British are planning to attack.
