Chapter 15
Hellooooo my wonderful peoples! I don't have much to say besides suggestions. PLEASE I am in desperate need of suggestions! And if you do suggest stories, I will do a shoutout to ya.
So peace, love, sparkles, fireworks, and turtles!
You stomped out of the bar and didn't look back. Not even the warm day could cheer you up. You had known that Alex was alive for quite some time now, (Chapter 14 happened about two months after Chapter 13) and you at least thought he would hide his sadness from you. What was he even sad about anyway? You knew that you could fight. Why couldn't he see the potential in you? If you died, you knew it would probably be because you were risking your life by taking a bullet or making yourself vulnerable for someone else to escape.
You heard the sound of feet hitting the cobblestone streets behind you, but you didn't look back. The sound got closer, so you sped up you pace. "Y/N, wait!" You head a voice behind you. You recognized the voice as John Laurens' and slowed your pace. He caught up to you and turned, facing you, so he was walking backwards.
"Hey John, can you move?" you asked. "Y/N, listen, don't be mad at your brother, he just wants to protect you." He stoped walking, so you moved to the side, but he blocked your way. "Do you mind?" You asked a little too harshly so you added in a teasing tone, "If you don't move I will call you by your last name like we do with Lafayette."
"Fine, call me by my last name, but at least hear me out," He said "Go talk to your brother. He does understand your longing to fight, and he does want to support your dreams, but you know what he had to witness. It was your family too, after all. He just doesn't want the same thing to happen to you." Then in a quieter tone he added, "And neither do I."
"Okay... Laurens," You said teasingly. "I'll talk to my brother, but right now, I want to go somewhere."
"Where are you going" He asked. "To the cemetery." You said, and he immediately understood why. "Mind if I join?" He asked. "Why not." You said.
You walked in a comfortable silence until you reached a rotted fence. The gate wouldn't budge. When you gave up on trying to open it with your hands, you just gave it a hard kick and the gate swung wide open. John seemed a little shocked about the gate, but you don't care. You came here for one reason. You slowly walked deeper into the cemetery, skimming the names on the gravestones until you reached the one with your father's name on it.
You kneeled by the stone, marking the place where your father lay. Silent tears slipped down your face and John wrapped his arms around you. You quickly hugged him back.
After a while, you lifted your head from John's shoulder. "I want to talk to Alex now."
