Hey everyone. It's Noel. Welcome to the final Chapter of The Story Of Rusty's Ghost Engine. In this final Chapter, we will answer the most important question we have about this Story. Who do I think was Rusty's Ghost Engine and what was his Backstory? This will be MY final answer to this question that's been Puzzling Thomas Fans for a quarter of a century. Are you ready to find out who I think this mysterious Engine is? Using my own personal headcanon, let's put this mystery to a close, once and for all!

In my Thomas And Friends Headcanon... Rusty's Ghost Engine is non other than...

IVO HUGH!!!!!!!!!!

Ivo Hugh was the Engine who fell off The Old Iron Bridge, but he wasn't turned into a Ghost. He SURVIVED! Now I know this may seem like a hyperbolic headcanon since not only does Ivo Hugh not have the same Model as Rusty's Ghost Engine, but he was also built in 1996, which was only 2 years before the Episode was made. How could HE be Rusty's Ghost Engine? Well everybody, sit back, relax, and let me tell you My Ivo Hugh Backstory!

Ever since I started discovered this Episode in the Spring of 2015, Ivo Hugh has always been the Engine in the Story for me. It all started back on a May morning in 2015 when I was watching a Wooden Railway Remake of the Episode, by a popular Thomas Wooden Railway YouTuber named, "ThomasWoodenRailway" who I'm still Subscribed to to this day. He used Ivo Hugh as the Engine who fell off the bridge in that Story. At the time I had absolutely no idea who Ivo Hugh even was because he never appeared in the TV Series. He only appeared in one Railway Series Book and he never even had any speaking lines. But When I found out Who Ivo Hugh was and when I got His Wooden Railway Toy the next month, I've always made him the Engine who fell off the Bridge in the Episode and I created a whole backstory for him. Even though Ivo Hugh has a different Model than the Ghost Engine we see in the Episode and he was built in 1996, he still has always been my choice for the Mysterious Ghost Engine in the Story Rusty told to Duncan!. Here is how MY Backstory would be for him.

Even though Ivo Hugh was built in 1996 by one of the Skarloey Railway managers named Mr. Ivo Hugh, I actually changed his build date in my own headcanon for him. In my Thomas And Friends headcanon, Ivo Hugh was built on May 18th 1866, making him one of the oldest Engines on the Skarloey Railway, let alone The Island Of Sodor. For the first 63 years of his life, he had a lot of fun on the Skarloey Railway with Skarloey, Rheneas, Proteus, and Mighty Mac, who were built around the same time as him. Life on the Skarloey Railway and Sodor in general was a lot simpler and different back then, but in 1929, something happened to Ivo Hugh that would make him one of the most famous and respected Engines on the Island.

In 1929, Ivo Hugh was 63 years old, and he was still working really well with Skarloey, Rheneas, Proteus, and Mighty Mac even though The Great Depression just starting to kick in. But thankfully, it it didn't affect Sodor Railways too much.

But on the night of October 15th 1929, just 2 weeks before the infamous Wall Street Crash, he was returning home on one quiet misty moonlit night after a long day of work, when suddenly, he lost control and fell off the bridge into the swamps below! But because Engines don't have lungs, so they can't drown. But after hitting the water after falling off a 300 foot high bridge, Ivo Hugh was knocked out cold and he sunk to the bottom of the ravine. Thankfully, his Driver and Fireman were able to escape through his side doors during the fall, and they were able to climb onto the shore and alerted the Skarloey Railway for help, and they pulled out Ivo Hugh from the ravine the next day, and he regained consciousness after he was pulled out of the ravine.

After his rescue, Ivo Hugh told his incredible Story to all the Engines on the Island, and was immediately put back into work on the Skarloey Railway, where he still works today. Even today, at the age of 157, Ivo Hugh still amazes people with his amazing Survival Story and he always succeeds at his work. His favourite job is pulling the Zoo Cars, because he came with the Zoo Cars when he was released as a Wooden Railway Toy. He's a really friendly Animal lover and he's also a food stand. Because believe it or not, when I got Ivo Hugh as a Wooden Railway Toy, I always thought his pistons looked like a Wine Glass, and Napkin Boxes like he was a Hot Dog Stand. 😂 Even though Rusty knew about Ivo Hugh's survival Story, he actually made up him being a Ghost just to scare Duncan, and Duncan also eventually learned about Ivo Hugh's real Story just like everyone else.

How's THAT For an Ivo Hugh backstory? Ivo Hugh is my 6th Favourite Thomas And Friends Character behind Rheneas, Skarloey, Thomas, Toby, and James. Even though he was such an obscure character who only appeared in one Railway Series Book and he never even had any speaking lines, he still went a long way and touched a kids heart! 

I want you to take away two things from Ivo Hugh's Backstory. You don't have to be noticed to make an impact on other people. Despite how incredibly obscure Ivo Hugh was, he's one of my favourite Thomas characters because of how much he's affected my imagination. I myself sometimes get jealous and depressed when I don't get attention from other people, but my Mom told me that I don't have to be noticed to make other people happy just like Ivo Hugh and you should think the same way. Even if no one notices you, you're still a very special person. ❤

Another thing I want you to take away from Ivo Hugh's Backstory is even if something tragic happens to you, you can still pull through it and have a happy and successful life. Even though Ivo Hugh fell off a 300 foot high bridge and was stuck at the bottom of the ravine for a whole day, he was rescued and he's still a successful hard working Engine who always loves telling his Story to everyone he meets. Proving that even if you're going through something tough, you can still find happiness and success. ❤
