CHAPTER THIRTY NINE
"Why does everything we do need to be in the morning?" Olivia questions the group with her hands on her hips as they all stand in a clearing. "I'm only asking because everything we do is in the freaking morning."
Jasper smirks at the girl being so grumpy. "Come on now, Darling. You didn't even have to walk."
"And yet i'm still awake." She huffs.
"You're not fighting? What, you pull a muscle or something?" Jacob's voice is heard as he and Paul make their way into the clearing.
"He's doing it for me. Okay?" Bella immediate jumps to his defense.
Olivia smiles as Paul hands her a thermos. Olivia hums in delight as she's quick to take a few gulps. "You're an angel."
"Angel, imprint, same thing." Paul smirks, enjoying Jaspers look of disdain he sends the wolf.
"Whatever. Just tell me the plan." Jacob huffs.
Jasper steps forward . "This field will give us an advantage in battle. We need to lure the newborns with their scent. It needs to end here."
"Edward, Liv, and I are going on a campsite. Even if he carries me, they'll still pick up our scents." Bella explains.
Paul looks to Olivia with a raised brow. "You're going to camp with Bella and Edward?"
Olivia sighs. "I was told I wouldn't have a choice."
"You could always stay with Emily." He offers.
Olivia opens her mouth to respond when Jasper cuts her off. "She's good."
"Your stench, however, is revolting." Edward brings the conversation back to the topic at hand knowing Jasper and Paul were two seconds away from an argument.
Jacob steps closer to him. "Dude, you really don't want to start comparing stinks."
"What he means, is that your scents will mask ours if you carry us." Bella tells him with the hopes of calming him down.
"Done." Both shifters quickly agree.
"This is not a good idea." Edward grits out in annoyance at the mass amount of smug radiating off of the two men, let alone their thoughts.
"I don't particularly enjoy the plan either." Jasper side eyes the wolf staring a little too long at his mate. "However the newborns won't want to get anywhere near their... Odor."
"Let's just try it." Olivia suggests with a hopeful smile. "One less thing to worry about, right guys?"
Edward grunts.
Paul smirks but it quickly falls.
Jasper pulls her body towards his own by her hips and he can't help but give her a gentle look. "It's still taking me some time to get used to this enthusiastic version of you."
Olivia mock salutes him. "Get used to it, Major."
He gives her a look of pure admiration, he truly couldn't understand how he had lived so long with out the woman. All of the waiting was worth it though.
"Run." Edward glares as the pair runs off. Olivia gasps and pushes away from Jasper. Before Paul can comprehend whats happening she hops onto his back and shouts. "Hurry, Paul! We can't let Jacob beat us." She makes a disgusted face.
Paul chuckles at the girl's constant need to shit on the wolf but obliges as he breaks into a sprint, enjoying hearing her giggles the whole way.
They had long since passed Jacob and Bella, the two not caring for a competition. Olivia hums as she lays her chin on his head. "How has it been since Jacob revoked his right to be alpha?"
"He still tries to fight with Sam on every decision that he makes." Paul rolls his eyes. In his opinion, if he was so willing to give up the alpha title then he shouldn't feel so entitled to challenging Sam every chance he can.
"He's really turned into something, hasn't he?" Olivia sighs at the thought of the boy.
"I've never gotten the chance to ask you." Paul grunts as he hops over a fallen tree. "I know why you two didn't become as close when you first came back, but I would've thought you two would have been back to normal when everything calmed down."
She know's he's tip toeing over her mental health but doesn't comment on it. "When we were friends he was this silly, carefree, hippie looking teenager. But now... Now he's just an angry in love, selfish, man."
"I get it." He nods because he can't disagree with her. He and the man were never extremely close by any means but he would see him around often when Liv used to visit Forks in their teenage years.
"Hey Paul..." She taps his shoulder to pause their walk. He does and she jumps off of his back look around for some confidence. "I think I owe it to you to tell you."
Paul's face falls slightly. "You're back with blondie?"
Olivia bites her lower lip and wordlessly nods her head.
Paul takes a deep breath and looks around at their surroundings attempting to gain his bearings. "If... If he makes you truly happy Liv I won't stand in your way."
Olivia looks at him with slight surprise. "Really?"
"Don't get me wrong, I love you. I think I always have." His face softens. "But you're still my princess no matter what you choose to do. Do you plan on.." He chokes slightly at the thought of the girl in front of him dying. He didn't know what the consequences of an imprint turning into a vampire would be. Would it destroy their bond?
"I'm not sure." She tells him with all honesty. "I don't love thinking about it, Jasper has given me his full support in either decision. I'm in no rush, unlike my sister."
Paul nods his head and looks to the ground. He wasn't sure how to feel. He's sure with out the imprint bond or the mass amount of love he has for the girl he would be shouting, shifting, fighting everything she's saying but he knows the girl in front of him deserves everything she wishes for and more. He just feels sad.
Sad because he knows one day if she chooses to change it may be the last he ever sees of her and he would have to die knowing his imprint would continue living for eternity and he would be nothing but a distant memory.
Olivia places her palms on the mans cheeks forcing him to look into her eyes. "You were my first love, Paul. And now you're my best friend, my imprint. Nothing and no one could ever take that away from us. Not even Jasper, no matter how much he wishes he could. I am honored to be your imprint, and I hope you find everything you want in this life and more. In another universe, it's you and I. But in this universe, in our universe, another lucky girl is just waiting for you."
Paul scoffs as he wipes a tear that had fallen from both her and his cheek. She was just as amazing of a human as the first time he had ever met her. He couldn't imagine himself not being in love with her in every universe but he wouldn't comment on it. He softly grabs her wrists that were still positioned on his face and pulls her as close as possible. "In every other universe, Jasper Hale doesn't stand a chance in hell." Olivia tearfully nods her head, knowing this is truly the end of their years and years of romantic history. He pulls her tightly against his own body. "I love you, Olivia Swan."
"I love you too, Paul."
It takes them longer than Jacob and Bella to reach the bottom of the mountain due to their talk and by the time they arrive back to the clearing it's clear that the love triangle had already left. Jasper was standing stiffly awaiting their arrival.
"I already checked the woods. All I picked up was wolf stench. It will work." Jasper blankly tells the two. Olivia sighs internally as the shifter places her back on her own two feet knowing that he most likely heard their conversation if he was searching the woods.
"Good." Paul nods his head, his gaze finds Olivia as if silently asking her if she'll be okay and she nods her head. "I'm going to head back to Sams and let him know if Jake hasn't already."
Olivia steps forward and gives the man a hug. "I'll see you later." She promises.
He nods and wordlessly runs into the woods, shifting when he's out of sight.
Olivia approaches the quiet blonde and stands in front of him nervously, she couldn't read him. "You.. You heard our conversation?"
He inclines his head.
"Then you heard me tell him that I am with you?"
"Amongst other things." He slightly frowns. "I can't read minds but I can feel everything he is feeling. Every time he's near you I can feel how much he loves you. It's harder than someone can imagine, feeling someone else's feelings for your mate."
Olivia takes his hand into her own and gives him a small smile. "I know it hasn't been easy for you, Jazz. I don't think it's been easy for any of us, including Paul. I think we all owe each other some grace with the situation."
"I'm guessing grace doesn't include marrying me?"
Olivia stares at him for a moment feeling like her brain was malfunctioning. For a second Jasper can feel her feelings and his lip quirks. Immense love, fear, happiness, and confusion to name a few. How deeply she's always been able to feel everything always amazed him and it felt even better to be able to experience it while she wasn't in a bad mental state.
"I'm sorry can you repeat that?" Olivia worriedly says.
"This grace you speak of." He smirks. "Does it allow for you to marry me?"
"Me... Marry... You?" She questions.
"Yes, ma'am."
"So like are you asking me to marry you right now because I don't see a ring or are you asking me if you can ever marry me. Like ever? Those are two very different things and I think you really really should clarify what you just said before I start assuming." She rushes out.
Jasper slowly lowers himself to one knee and pulls a small oval diamond from his pocket. "This ring was my mothers. This and the necklace that you have on are the only items I have left from my human life." He watches as her eyes shine with tears and she shakily covers her mouth. "Will you, Olivia Swan, marry me?"
"I'm only eighteen!" She blurts out.
"I'm very old fashioned." He shrugs. "In my day you court a woman for a few months and it's official. And as far as i'm concerned I have been yours from the moment you walked into that history class."
"Okay." She nods her head attempting to bring herself back to reality.
"Okay?" He raises his brow.
Olivia cups both of his cheeks and widely smiles. "Okay i'll marry you!"
Jasper smiles and straight away sweeps her off of her feet twirling her around, Olivia throws her head back and laughs in pure happiness. He slowly lowers her and their foreheads meet. "Olivia Whitlock. Olivia Cullen. Olivia Hale."
"That's a lot of last names but i'll proudly wear every single one of them for you." She swears, his eyes had never looked so bright and she had never seen the man so genuinely happy.
"I have been waiting over a hundred years for you, Darling." His eyes sparkle as the sun begins to set. "Everything I have done, everything I have been through, has been so that I could get to this exact moment with you. Nothing else matters to me except being yours. Being your husband is a duty I will never take for granted. I will never love another soul in this universe or any other, that I promise you. "
