CHAPTER FOURTY

Alice skips out of the Swan house with an extra large smile, immediately making Olivia suspicious. Jasper had just dropped her off at home with promises of coming back like he does every night but she was blindsided by the pixie walking out of the door.

"Alice, hey." Olivia greets with confusion lacing her tone. "Were you visiting Bella?"

Alice stops and looks at the girl with a knowing look. "Nope! I was visiting Charlie. Running into your sister and now you was just an added bonus. "

Olivia's eyes widen. "My father? Why were you visiting him?"

"Your alibi for the battle is all arranged." She assures.

"And how is that..." She narrows her eyes.

She shrugs. "I told your father that our whole family's going camping this weekend. So you and I are having a sleep over at my house. Charlie is going fishing anyway."

"We are?"

"No, actually Bella and Edward will be at the house and you and Jasper will have your house to yourselves tonight." Olivia blushes as the vampires tone becomes slightly suggestive. "So.."

"I said yes." Olivia shyly tells her as she brings up her hand.

Alice loudly squeals and Olivia quickly covers up her mouth with a frightened expression adorning her face. "Alice! Shh! My dad doesn't know yet."

"This is the first time in decades I have been surprised by something, my vision really could have gone either way." Alice sighs as she feels a weight lift from her chest.

"Really?" Olivia questions curiously.

"Let's just say, Jasper is lucky he controlled his jealousy." She smirks.

"Liv?" Charlie questions as he opens the front door. "Thought I heard you."

Olivia smiles at Alice as a pardon and walks into the home with her dad. "So, a sleepover at Alice's?" Charlie looks at her skeptically as they take a seat in the living room. Olivia side eyes him right back. "Yeah, she wants to give me a make over or something."

"Dad there's something I have to tell you." Olivia stares at him nervously. "Because it's you and I can't not tell you something you know? I mean I could but I don't want to."

Charlie sighs into his hands. "You're pregnant."

Olivia gasps. "What? No! Why would you say that?"

"Sorry, Liv." He shakes his head. "I just had the talk with Bella and I think I am scarred for life."

"I'm sure she is too." Olivia mumbles under her breath. "No... Um. Jasper proposed to me today."

"And you said?"

Olivia raises her eyebrows in surprise that he wasn't already going for his guns. "Why aren't you freaking out?"

"Did you say yes?" He questions again.

Olivia slowly shows him her left hand that was adorned with the beautiful yet simple oval diamond. Charlie slowly grins. She groans. "You knew!"

"I will admit the kid is very traditional." He confesses. "He came to ask me for your hand in marriage a week ago."

"And you said yes?" She jokingly glares at her father. "Are you trying to get rid of me?"

He scoffs. "No. We had a man to man conversation first."

"Man to man?" Olivia covers her mouth to prevent a giggle from leaving her lips. "Tell me you didn't threaten to shoot him?" She pleads.

Charlie's eyes trail to the wall behind her head. "It's every father's right-"

"Dad!" She gasps in utter embarrassment. "I cannot with you."

"Well he still got to propose didn't he?" Charlie grunts in displeasure. "I swear I wasn't gifted with a strong enough heart to be a girl dad."

Olivia grins and him and jumps onto his chair to give him a tight hug. She kisses his cheek and tells him, "You're perfect for a girl dad."

Olivia looks around her room feeling like she's never seen it before. She would end up moving out soon enough to live with her fiance and she would probably never spend another night here in her home. Leaving home forever was a scary thought, not having her father right down the hall was scary. But she knew she couldn't live with Charlie forever.

She makes her way to her closet and kneels to the floor to pull out a box she hadn't touched since arriving in Forks. She takes a deep breath in as she removes a covers. Dozens of pictures and envelopes fill the box to the brim.

She pulls out a few pictures and smiles softly. There was a picture of her on Paul's back as young teenagers, she was attempting to strangle him for stealing her cake. A picture of her and Charlie that she had forced him to take, she was making a silly face and he was awkwardly smiling besides her.

Her smile drops as she picks up a letter.

"Reminiscing?"

Olivia spins around and puts a hand on her chest. "You have got to start giving me a warning, Jazz."

"My apologies, ma'am." He chuckles, coming to take a seat besides her on the floor. "What's got you so focused?"

"When I moved back to Fork's I packed up every picture and letter I had here from when I would visit and tossed it all in this box. I figured it was finally time to go through it all." She sighs as she smacks the letter against her hands. "My friends from Arizona used to send me letters every time I came to Forks even though they knew they would see me in a few weeks. Paul and I used to go through them together because they would send funny pictures of things they got up to while I was gone."

"Thats oddly...human." Jasper half smiles at the thought of Olivia being so different.

"The last time Paul and I talked before I left Forks we got into a fight. I never thought he'd love me and he never thought i'd love him so neither of us ever said anything but he exploded when he read this letter."

"What's in the letter?" He raises a brow.

"It's a letter from my ex." She purses her lips.

Jasper's whole body tenses and he eyes the letter like it's going to attack her right then and there.

"I let him read the letter while I went through others not realizing he had sent me a letter and that's how he found out I was dating. He was so mad, I just wish I would have listened to him." She lays her head on her hand.

Jasper kisses her shoulder. "You couldn't have known, darling. It's not your fault, it was never your fault."

"I think I know that now." She sadly smiles as she throws the letter in the trash.

"Jazz... Can I ask you something personal?" She whispers as she draws circles on his abdomen over his shirt. Jasper had suggested she gets some rest before the long day tomorrow after another hour of showing him her photos.

Jasper snorts at the audacity of her question.. "I think we're past personal."

Olivia lightly smacks his stomach knowing it would only hurt her if she hit him any harder. But the more courage she gains in asking her question the more red her face gets. Jasper's face looks skeptic as he observes this. "What is it, darlin?"

"Are you a .. you know?" She questions. Jasper just stares at her with confusion and she groans in frustration. "Ugh! You know!"

"I can't say that I do." He muses amusedly.

"A.. virgin?" She whispers.

Jasper throws his head back with laughter and Olivia muffles the sound with her hand. "What is up with you Cullen's and trying to get Charlie's attention?"

"I couldn't help myself." He smirks but it fades into a genuine smile. "I.. am as traditional as you would assume. I wanted to save myself for marriage."

Olivia's mouth opens in awe. "So in over a hundred years..."

He shakes his head confirming her statement.

"Now I feel bad." She pouts. "You've waited over a hundred years for me and I didn't even make it sixteen years!"

He pulls her into his arms attempting not to laugh at the girl. "Human's have certainly evolved, darlin. Sex is much more modernized than it used to be."

"Okay, I am done talking about it now." She blushes.

"I can't give you a a lot of things in this life but that's something I would gladly save for you forever if that's how long it took." He tells her genuinely.
