The Goodbye to the Beginning

Hi my name is Eliza! I am nineteen, and this is not your normal story of love. See, I've never felt emotions toward anyone except my mother and father. They were beacons of love. My father was respected and treated people with kindness and understanding, and my mother, oh my mother was sunshine. Despite what she went through, she always tried to see the light in the dark.

Today, however, I said goodbye to my mother and father one last time. I am moving to England soon, and while going through my things, I found my mothers old journal with a note attached. See, my father wasn't human, and my mother knew this. I knew this, and now the world knows this. Despite neither of us being his problem, he bought mom this journal, and told her to write everything in vivid detail.

My mother told me if anything happens to her, that I let the world know her story. She always dreamed of releasing a book. Though I thought she'd be alive when hers was released. Today I say goodbye to all that is left of my mother. I am releasing her story, her legacy, her entire life's work.

My mother was born to a Georgian family, just north of Savannah. She was raised by my grandmother, Barbra Susanna Marshall, and my grandfather, Frank Ray Smith. Barbra and Frank are nice, but they don't understand my mother's decisions. She was born in St.Joseph's Hospital on a Friday, March 12th, 1997 at exactly 3:33 am. From the beginning my mother was surrounded by the supernatural. She never knew it, because her eyes were closed to it all.

My father was born in New York City, to my grandmother Lilith Rose Ambrose, and my grandfather Denzell Ambrose. I don't know my father's mothers maiden name. He was born in 1832, just outside New York City in his mothers country home. Lilith and Denzell have another son, though I never met my uncle. Father said he was away so often because he was busy. My Uncles name is Lucius. He was the second biggest mob in New York, my father just barely beating him, which made him very angry. Lucius does not seem like a sensible man.

My mothers name is Ciara Deirdre Smith. Her mother was big on Celtic names. She grew up in a religious background, learning of her rich culture and heritage. Her father was Christian, so my mother grew up being sheltered from the supernatural world around her, despite it interacting with her commonly enough. She had bright red hair and vibrant green eyes, a goddess, a beautiful queen. She was envied by women, and desired by men, but despite having plenty of options, she kept to herself. I can't tell if it was her nerdy behavior, the glasses, or the fact she'd answer the voices in the shadows, but many people learned that she was strange from a young age.

My father, the exact opposite of mother, was named Lucifer Arendrel Ambrose. He was the designated "devil" of the mob world, despite his kind and hospitality demeanor. Don't get me wrong, I know my father was ruthless to the supernatural world, but if you ever saw how he interacted with human children or women, you'd understand why I called him my own Angel. He was like a god, ruthless and dangerous, but to my mother, he kept her safe, kept her happy, and made sure she never wanted for anything. He was born with blonde hair and calm brown eyes, the color of the fur tile earth in the Hawaiian islands, with flecks of red the color of the Georgia clay my mom played in when she was little. As he got older his hair deepened to a dark, almost black, chestnut color. And his dark eyes grew darker.

Despite the amount of carnage my father saw, he never once let it change him. Despite how much horrible things my mother heard, she never let it dim her bright nature. It's a wonder they found each other, but after all, Detroit was the heart of progress and change, and they were made for each other.

That's the basics of my family, minus one small flaw. My father is a Vampire, and my mother is the one that caused everyone to know humanity wasn't alone.  Because of this, Today I say goodbye to my mother and Fathers gracefulness, their integrity, their boundless love. Today I say goodbye to a gravestone on the edge of a river hidden in the mountains of Georgia. Today I say goodbye to Mom and Dad. Today I let the world remember their legacy.
