Day 19- Fight vs. Flight

AN- I'm gonna be skipping around until I finish these just cuz I have to come up with ideas for all of them. Hope you like it anyways!

Summary: The summer before college Ichigo and a few of his friends (one being his cousin) form a band that becomes unexpectedly popular. Two weeks before their last gig of the summer Ichigo's long time girlfriend Rukia breaks up with him unexpectedly. Will they fight for a future together or will they flee from the love that could have been?

Rukia's P.O.V)

Rukia politely clapped her hands with everyone else as the band finished the last song of the night. She hadn't wanted to come tonight. Not after her recent break up with the lead singer. It was only to make her friend Orihime happy that she came. She knew her friend had been worried about her ever since her breakup.

Rukia also knew she couldn't keep hiding from everyone. Yes she was hurt but it was her decision to break things off with him. And never one to play the victim she put on her knee length black dress and joined her friend on her night out, clapping politely as Orihime enthusiastically cheered for her fiancée's band and doing her best to ignore her ex.

She was just mentally preparing herself for the possiblity of being forced to make small talk with her ex so Orihime could talk to her fiancee when Ichigo stepped back up to the mic, surprising everyone.

"Now, I know you guys are tired and probably wanna go home," he began, earning a laugh from the crowd, "But I hope you'll bear with us as we play one more song. Hope you guys like it." At that Uryuu and Chad began to play the intro on their guitars, the crowd quieting as they listened.

"I'd be ridin' in a cab goin' downtown,

finding faces I know in a big crowd,

He sang that line with so much heart that the crowd began to look around as if wondering who he could be singing about but Rukia knew. She could she it in the looks he kept giving her as he sang. There's only one person he could be singing that passionately about.

"There would be a riot, breakin' out my heart, I'd try to fight it.

I could go out every night, but I'd be lyin'

If I said I could live and breathe without you.

There'd be a lot of lonely, wishin' and prayin' that you would hold me.

I would do most anything baby, if only you would come back to me.

Come back to me. There would be a riot, oh yeah, ohhh."

People started to sway as the tempo picked up but all Rukia could see was Ichigo staring right at her as he sang. Looking at the anguish in his amber eyes she unconsciously took a step towards him before remembering herself.

"I'd be checkin' on my phone every minute,

waitin' around for it to start ringin', and prayin' that it would be you.

I don't know what I'd do.

"I could go out every night, but I'd be lyin'

If I said I could live and breathe without you.

There'd be a lot of lonely, wishin' and prayin' that you would hold me.

Keeping his gaze locked on hers Ichigo steps off the stage, heading right for her.

As Ichigo finished the song he stopped in front of her, the last line sounding like a plea. He was so close she could touch him, if she so chose. Refraining herself she appraised him with a raised brow.

"Rukia..." he began.

"What Ichigo? You think you can just sing me a song and I'll forget everything that happened between us?" I snapped angrily.

"Wait. Are you still mad about my not telling you I was quitting the band?" Ichigo asks, a dumbstruck look on his face, as the crowd gasped at this news.

"Yes! What else would I be mad about?" At this his face goes from confused to shock to understanding a small 'oh' escaping his lips.

"Rukia," he says after a moment, "The whole reason I started this band was to earn money for college. I never wanted it to be my life. My life's here with you. Not out on the road." Ichigo says taking her hands.

"Really?" I whispered, searching his eyes and seeing the truth they held.

"Really." he reassures her, leading her outside as everyone stared at them in shock.

AN- For those of you who don't know Rascal Flatt's lead singer and second guitar player are cousins so that's another reason I added Uryuu in besides for a IshiHime moment. Anyways hoped you liked it!
