Dawnclaw walked over with the two apprentices to Leaftail. She smiled slightly, trying not to look too cheesy and followed Leaftail out of the camp.

They decided to do some hunting on their way to the Shadowclan border. Leaftail went in one direction with Mousepaw and Dawnclaw and Brownfur went with Specklepaw. Specklepaw was so exited to be out on a patrol that she didn't hunt well at all. She didn't stalk very low to the ground and she pounced either too early or too late. Dawnclaw didn't mind but Brownfur seemed to since the fresh-kill pile was more just made up of two birds and a mouse.

"Your taking off too early!" Brownfur hissed at young Specklepaw

"Sorry, Brownfur...." Specklepaw replied, looking down at the ground.

Dawnclaw felt her sorrow for she had Brownfur for a mentor, she knew he cared about her progress and didn't mean any mental harm. But when your an apprentice, if you fail and your mentor gets upset and hisses and growls... well... your going to take everything personally.

Dawnclaw walked over to  and nudged her slightly.

"You are taking off a bit early, try it again. I'll help you again if you need", she smiled

"Ok, thanks Dawnclaw!" Specklepaw replied then bounded away to find another mouse.

Dawnclaw followed and watched. Sure enough, she did in fact take what she had told her into thought. She caught it! Then another, and another, and another. Dawnclaw tipped her many times and she kept getting better and better!

After they had all finished hunting, they decided to meet up with Mousepaw and Leaftail.

They walked for a little while, Leaftail and Mousepaw must've had to move quite a ways on account of how much prey there must've been.

Brownfur caught a glimpse of blood on a bush and brought Dawnclaw's attention to it.

She looked at the bush, shocked and suddenly, very worried. They ran in the direction but made sure to be hidden so they weren't attacked suddenly if that wasn't prey blood.

"Look out!" Said Mousepaw quickly pushing Dawnclaw out of the way of a running cat.

Dawnclaw looked up, surprised she didn't notice the cat's scent!

"Thanks Mousepaw," she said jumping up and continuing to look for Leaftail, "Wait! Mousepaw!?"

"Yeah?" He asked, confused.

"Where is Leaftail?" She responded quickly. She could even see a huge scratch over mousepaw's ear which worried her more.

"Come with me," Mousepaw said sprinting in a direction.

They all followed. Then found Leaftail, full of blood. They evidently had been attacked. Brownfur and Dawnclaw raced over to him while Specklepaw attended to her den-mate's wounds.

"Leaftail!" Brownfur said shaking the tom.

Leaftail woke suddenly and jumped up, hissing with fear.

"Calm down," Brownfur exclaimed, "it's only us! What happened?"

"Oh... hey guys... we were attacked, I pushed Mousepaw into a bush after one of the cats struck him across the face and cutting his ear," Leaftail explained, "I lost it and... well, now your here".

"Well, your full of blood, your stained!" Brownfur said, "you need to get back!"

"No! We need to finish what we started," Leaftail snapped, "I want the apprentices to go back though, Mousepaw need to be attended to. Brownfur, bring them both back," he ordered "Dawnclaw! Let's get going."

Brownfur and Dawnclaw exchanged worried glances but, then nodded. Brownfur called to the apprentices and, without argument, followed.
