"Claire! Watch this!" a tiny voice squeaked. Turning around, the gray and white cat smiled when she saw her little sister. Unnamed her entire life, the small gray tabby kitten sat beside a yarn ball. Once she saw that the attention was on her, she crouched down. Focusing on the ball of red yarn in front of her, she twitched her striped tail before pouncing on her prey. She landed on top of it, causing it to roll over. It wasn't long until she was pinned under her victim.

"You'll never catch anything if you do it like that," Paxton snarled as he entered the room in time to see that. Looking up at her father, the tiny kitten's ears pinned against her head. She didn't know why he hated her so much. It didn't make sense. He should be acting like all dads should, playing around with their kids. It definitely didn't make things better that the kitten had never met her mother.

Watching as Paxton walked out of the room, Claire huffed. She hated how the cat who was her father was acting around her sister. The young kitten never even got a name! She never received any kind of love from their brother. Her white tipped tail swishing back and forth angrily, the teenaged feline looked over at her little sister. The kitten was still pinned under the yarn ball, looking awfully glum. Padding over, Claire picked up the toy and mewed, "Don't listen to him. He doesn't know what he's saying."

"Why doesn't Daddy like me?" the kitten mumbled, rolling over to her paws. She stared at the wooden floor, feeling miserable. Sitting down beside her, Claire curled her long tail around her little sister as she replied, "He likes you, he just... he shows his love differently than other dads. But he does like you, don't forget that." Her spirits lifted back up by those words, the kitten hugged her sister and squeaked, "Thank you Claire."
