Chapter 14

"So, what you're telling me is we are part of a prophecy that Tempest told you?" Potent exclaimed, his wings flapping. "Oh, somebody pinch me."

Seaglass leant forward with a talon outstretched. Potent snarled at the Seawing, and the pale green dragon leapt back.

"I was kidding."

Seaglass snickered as Mudpuddle elbowed him, he frowned and snapped his jaw shut, trying to appear serious.

"Look, guys. I know it is hard to believe, but you have to trust us." Artemis pleaded.

The whole Winglet had been in big doubt about the Prophecy, and refused to believe it. Especially the tempered Sandwing, Potent. Yet again that wasn't much surprise.

"I hate to admit it, but once you put the pieces together. It does make sense." Starflight began.

Sunny gave an agreeing nod. "Artemis explained it well enough, and quick enough, that must mean something, right?"

Potent growled deep in his throat, narrowing his obsidian eyes at the two's opinion.

"Fine."

Tempest frowned, but gave an apologetic glance at the angry Sandwing.

Snowfall snorted a small stream of snowflakes, arching a brow. "Well, since this a real prophecy, why don't we go fulfill it? Right now? So I can skip classes?"

"Yeah!" Seaglass chimed.

"Let's do it!" Mamba unfurled her wings into the air.

"Not so fast." Artemis said. "We don't even know where to begin with this thing."

"She's right." Clay agreed, looking at the other dragonets.

Queen Glory glanced at Clay, her scales swirling purple and orange for a split second. "Well, Clay. Remember the so-called prophecy? Did you follow it directly?" Before any could answer, she continued.

"No, you didn't. And despite it being a fake... You all did technically fulfill it. " She pointed out, new royal blue colors flooding over the purple in her scales.

"We fulfilled it." Sunny chimed, and nudged Queen Glory. She snorted in response.

Clay nodded half heartedly. "True."

"It was a fake!" Tsunami growled.

"Fake or not, things went.... well in the end. We stopped the war when my mother became Queen." Sunny said.

"And our prophecy is real!" Mamba exclaimed.

"It might not be." Tempest frowned.

"See! Even the one who said it isn't sure!" Tsunami flared her gills. "It's just some weird thing she read in a scroll or-"  She hissed. "- I don't know."

"She just isn't confident in her powers." Starflight argued.

The Dragonets of Destiny and the new dragonets began to bicker back and forth, a huge argument exploding between them. Artemis sat back on her hind legs, doing everything she could to stop their fighting. It's clear that she wasn't doing much of anything.

Tell them. Says a voice in her head.

Three moons. Not you again. She growled softly.

I'm serious, Artemis. It's the only way they will accept the prophecy.

Why should I believe you? She demanded. The voice was quiet for a moment.

You're right...why should you? Alright then. Make the decision yourself. If you find yourself in the midst of wonderful chaos, blame the decision you made. Only one thing is the right thing after all. Bye now.

Artemis sat there and thought, her anxiousness growing as she watched them fight, rather helpless to do anything. Her thoughts flew through her head as fast as a Skywing.

She closed her eyes and sighed. It's the right decision.

Artemis looked at the fighting Dragonets and flared her wings. "Stop talking!"

Eleven heads turned her way. Artemis winced and caught each of their eyes. Especially the Queen's. Ah lowered her head.

"There's something I need to tell you all...something very important."

~~~~~~~~~~
"That is some pretty messed up stuff." Mamba declared.
Artemis had just finished describing her dreams to the others. Judging from the silence in the room, they weren't too thrilled. A blanket of cold, eerie air hung over them. Like a invisible cloud, almost. You can't see it, but you can feel it there. Its clinging to your skin, slowly strangling you from the inside as you breathe in its damp form.
"I'm sorry I hadn't told you earlier...I just. I didn't know what to believe." Artemis apologized. "There wasn't much I could think to do."
"It's okay Artemis, really." Seaglass said, brushing his wing against hers with a friendly smile. "I know I would've been pretty freaked out too."
"Me too." Snowfall admitted, lowering his head as the icicle spikes on his neck clattered, and Seaglass nudged him in appreciation. His eyes were sympathetic.
"This gives a whole new perspective on things!" Starflight exclaims. "Solar, or whoever that dragoness is, mentioned a prophecy. Right? This is probably the prophecy she was talking about! It has to be. Of course. I wish I had some ink...and I could see..."
Tsunami lashed her tail, and sighed. "Yes, but the prophecy still doesn't make sense."
"Sure it does." Sunny said, gently taking the scroll from Clay's talons. "Right here it's talking about the sun. It obviously isn't a real sun. The gold dragoness mentioned she was Queen of the Daywings. Couldn't sun mean Daywings? It kinda explains itself."
Every dragonet looked at Sunny, who blushed and set down the scroll. "So, yeah." She said flatly.
Starflight reached out with his talons to put his on the hybrids. "This is great, Sunny."
Sunny half smiled and looked at the other Dragonets.
"This explains so much..." Artemis murmured.
"Yeah. But what are 'The Twin Islands? Never been on any scroll I've seen." Mudpuddle pointed out.
"Hm...I've never heard of them before either." Seaglass said. "If I did, I would know. I mean come on, I'm a Seawing for crying out loud. I'm always everywhere around the ocean.
Artemis thought for a moment, her tail swinging side to side as she concentrated.
I see you made the right descicion. The voice from earlier said, it's tone brimming with false happiness.
Artemis narrowed her eyes. Okay. I did. Good for me. But there's one thing I need to know, and I need to know now. She declared.
And what would that be?
Who are you?
Pity. I can't tell you. You couldn't handle it at all. The voice seemed to chuckle darkly.
I am one thing, it's called annoyed. Now tell me who you are, RANDOM VOICE IN MY HEAD.
No need to yell. The voice said flatly.
I'll yell as much as I like. Now. Tell me. Artemis demanded. I told a secret today. Now it's your turn.
Determined one, aren't you?
Quit stalling. She said, making sure to leave a very noticeable bite of anger in her words.
Ouch. Well I'll pretend I didn't hear you think that... Now, if you MUST know who I am...
The voice paused, as if regretting their decision.
Hello? Artemis wondered.
Hello, Artemis. The voice chimed, somehow different. Artemis' scales prickled with energy, and she felt the necklace warm on her chest, and winced.
Now, allow me to give a proper introduction. And I'm telling you now, you have been warned.
Artemis's head pounded, with adrenaline, fear, and excitement of who this mystery voice was.
The seconds that went by were unbearable. Suddenly. She heard a faint whisper in the back of her head. Words she could just barely make out. She had to block out all the other noise of the dragonets talking, focusing only on the voice in her head as it spoke.
The voice finished, rather dramatically. My name is Darkstalker.
DON'T BE FOOLED, YOU GUYS. The necklace has its ways.
