Mia is sitting next to the fire when Jeremy sits next to her. "I'm glad you're here! it's been a while since we hung out." He looks at the fire and then glances at the redhead.

She sighs. "Well, you became a Hunter and hated vampires for a while, then you killed my boyfriend and now we're here. I'm calling this a progress!" She chuckles lightly. "How have you been?"

"I put you through hell and you're worried about me?" Jeremy stares at Mia and then scratches the back of his head. "You really are an amazing friend."

Mia smiles but keeps all her attention on the bright fire. "I still care about you and you're my best friend so I wanna know how you feel. Jer..." She takes his hand and looks into his brown eyes. "...I want you to know that I will always be here for you, no matter what."

Jeremy leans in to kiss Mia but is interrupted by Bonnie's scream. "What was that?" He asks, confused and disappointed by not being able to kiss Mia.

The redhead looks in the direction of the scream and sees Bonnie walking towards the woods. "It's Bonnie! Go and I'll make sure that everything is fine around here."

The young Hunter makes his way to where Bonnie is and Mia looks around the camp and sees that everyone is safe. Bonnie's scream startled Mia and all she wanted was to be able to protect everyone so they could find the cure and leave the creepy island.

The next day, Mia decides to walk along the woods and see what made Bonnie scream. Jeremy spent the entire night with the young witch to protect her. When the youngest Salvatore goes deep into the forest, she hears footsteps and immediately walks over the sound. Out of nowhere, a man grabs her and pins her to the floor. She is able to gain the upper hand and shoves him against a tree. The strong man pulls himself together and grabs Mia by the neck. "Who are you?" The redhead asks but instead of an answer, the man stabs her in the stomach with a wooden stake.

Damon shows up in time to distract the man but is immediately beaten by the mysterious assailant. The man tries to stake Damon through the heart but Mia knocks him out. "Next time, aim for the heart." She grabs Damon's hand and the two of them tie the strange man up.

"Who is this guy?" Damon asks Mia while they tie him up against a tree.

Mia finishes the knot and shrugs. "Beats me!" She looks at the man. "But he's strong, Damon. Just like Connor was."

After half an hour, the man wakes up while Mia is sitting on a rock. She looks at him and smirks. "Sleeping Beauty has awaken!" She yells and Damon smirks at his sister.

"First of all..." Damon punches the man. "This is for almost killing my sister." The man groans in pain. "Now, let's start with introductions. I'm Damon and this is Mia. Who the hell are you?"

The man looks at both siblings and tries to untie the ropes. "My name's Vaughn. I knew I would find vampires here." He spits some blood and then smirks. "You might think you're safe, but there are more like me out there and they will kill you."

Mia's eyes widen as she listens to Vaughn's words. "You're a Hunter, part of the Brotherhood."

Damon looks at his sister is disbelief. "We already have a Hunter!"

"The Brotherhood must have five elements. Maybe Jeremy is just one of them but not the only one." Mia looks at his brother concerned. "We should warn the others and make sure they're safe."

"Let's go!" Damon and Mia run to the camp where everyone is. Elena and Stefan are talking, Shane is staring at the water, Bonnie and Jeremy seem to be discussing something but Rebekah is nowhere to be seen.

Mia approaches Stefan. "Have you seen Bekah?"

Stefan points to a tent. "She's inside."

Mia sighs in relief, knowing that everyone is safe and the Hunter is tied down. Vaughn threatened them and Mia knows that the Botherhood is dangerous.

Rebekah sits next to Mia in the sand and sighs. "This view is beautiful!" She smiles and Mia nods. "We're closer to finding the cure."

"We are." Mia looks at her blonde friend. "Klaus is one step closer to creating his perfect hybrid army and Elena is going to be his personal blood bag. If you think about it, it's the perfect punishment for her."

The Original chuckles. "She does deserve to be punished for what she did to my brother." The two girls stay silent for a while. "What would you do if you got the chance to be human again?"

Mia sighs, thinking about an answer. "I would probably try to have a normal life. Get away from this town and start my life from scratch somewhere else. Maybe go to school, then college, get married and have kids of my own." She smiles thinking about her perfect life.

Rebekah takes Mia's hand and smiles. "That sounds like a beautiful dream. I bet you would be very happy and live your life without any regrets."

"People think that living forever is amazing and epic but the pain, the suffering, the grief... It never ends even if you turn off your emotions." Mia looks at the water. "Immortality is not as glamorous as people paint it to be. I have experienced love in the purest form but with that it came loss, painful memories and a feeling of impotence. It's like you see everything that is happening but you can't do a damn thing to stop it."

"That's exactly how I felt every time Klaus would do something to hurt our family. He's my brother and I love him more than anything else in the world but he's the cruelest person I have ever met and his actions affect everyone that decides to stay by his side." Rebekah throws a pebble into the water and stands up.

Mia watches Rebekah leave and then turns her attention to the sky. The sun is setting and Mia smiles at the magical view. She used to love watching sunsets when she was human and she wanted to experience a normal life again.
