Chapter 6 -Ending

A/N- I know this story was extremely short, but I dont have the desire to write this story that I've had with others. My apologies to those who enjoyed the story but I clarified that this was a practice story and didn't have real intensions to create a long book. Having said that, enjoy the last chapter. Goodbye for now~

[Pidges POV]
Years passed by and Lance has treated me better than ever, though the teasing about my height never ends. He stopped being the so called "f**k boy" and began showing the world he was taken by the green loving, vertically challenged, blind pigeon baring the name pidge.
My thoughts ran wild with memories of our past together. Our relationship survived past high school and we see/message each other as much as physically possible. I normally have flashbacks of times together, but today made them even more special. Today marked our 5 years as a couple. I waited for Lance to get out of bed. After an hour of waiting I decided to go wake him up myself with a small bit of anger. This man will not sleep all day on our anniversary. I barged into the room to find an.... Empty bed..? My phone vibrated on the bedside table.
I checked it and saw a message from Lance

Lance: You really thought I was going to sleep in all day on our 5 year anniversary?

He knew me too well.

Pidge: I wouldn't put it past you. Besides where did you sneak off to anyways?

[Lance's POV]
I glanced at my phone,
'good ol stubborn Pidge, won't ever be seen as wrong'
I replied simply yet not giving too many clues to what I had planned that night.

Lance: I left a note on the top shelf, it's your problem you're too short to reach/see it. But I'll send you an address later, wear something nice.

Afterwards I clicked off my phone and continued setting up, circling the small velvet box in my pocket around my fingers.

[Pidges POV]
Dumb Lance thinking he's mysterious. It's obvious he has a special anniversary dinner set up. It's so cliche that he would set this up, yet still sweet and flattering. I began getting ready, but it didn't take long. Even if he was the love of my life and we had been together for 50 years, I would never wear makeup. Begrudgingly I looked for a dress.
'thats as far as I will go' I told myself. 'tennis shoes over flats, flats over heels.' I repeated while looking for a matching pair of flats to go with the dark green dress I had chosen.
The dress didn't look too bad and I was actually pretty happy with my looks

I laid on my stomach holding my phone and messaged Lance

Pidge: hey dork, are you almost done? If you don't send the address in like 5 minutes I'm coming in a teeshirt and shorts.

I knew it was bratty but it was starting to get dark and almost all of my anniversary had been spent getting ready for Lance's dinner date.

[Lance's POV]
I chuckled at Pidges message and sent her the address.
With the help of a few friends I set up a beautiful area near a small pond.
The area was covered in lights and the trees had dark green decorations with streamers, banners, and a green and white banner saying 'happy five years pidgeon'
I smiled, happy with my work and straightened my tie. 'now I wait'
I pulled out the ring once again and stared at it.
'she'll like it, right?' I had gone over scenarios multiple times in my head.
'she won't reject me, we've been together for 5 years. What if she doesn't feel ready? What if she does one of those public rejections where I propose and she runs away?!?'

"Calm yourself" I said aloud
"Tonight's the night you've been waiting for. Surprise her"

A car pulled up and pidge stepped out seconds later. She looked like a model. My eyes almost popped out of my head.

"Y-You look amazing" I tripped over my words.

"You don't look too bad yourself" she said, smirking.

I pulled out a chair for her and together we sat down. I lit the candle on the table, poured her a glass of wine, and opened the first course of the meal. Raising my glass we had a small toast

"To us" I said and pidge reciprocated. We clinked our glasses and continued through the meal, talking about some of our best memories together.

~time skip~

An hour had passed and I knew it was the right time.
I walked over to Pidges side of the table and got down on one knee. Her eyes glossed as when she gasped, knowing what I was doing.

"Pidge," I began "two years ago I woke up next to you. I saw your peaceful, sleeping face and I knew you where the woman I wanted to marry. Continuing through that day you walked around in nothing but a tee-shirt. My thoughts where only on how amazing you are. Everyday my feelings for you only grow. So, would you give me the honor of putting this ring on your finger and officially claiming each other as husband and wife? Pidge, will you marry me?" I sat there, ring box in hand and awaited her response. She slipped the ring on her finger and kissed me passionatly. I was the luckiest man alive. A wonderful fiance and an amazing life ahead of me.
