'Ask and you shall receive.'

I don't really agree with that saying at the moment. You know why? Well, it been years. Literal. Years. I've done my asking, where is my prize? That's right, there is none. You know why? Because in life, sometimes you actually have to work to get what you want. I found that out a long time ago.

   I start my car, the engine sputtering a few times before starting. I pulled out of my driveway and started on my way to the theatre.

   I guess I should introduce myself. Hi, I'm Judy Mason, and I'm hoping to make it on -wait for it- Broadway. I know, so many said that one time or another, and failed. It might not be true. But I can at least try, can't I? I mean, I'd like to think my chances are okay. I've done every community theatre production my this town has had, I've scoured YouTube for virtually every acting, singing, and audition prep lesson there is, and I've auditioned for more musicals and play than I care to admit. Speaking of audition, I'm up next.

  I gather my things and head into the auditorium where the auditions were being held. The two judges sitting at the folding table in front of me stared me down, their gazes seeming to drill through my skin. I took a deep breath.

  "Hi, I'm Judy Mason and I will be auditioning for the role of Veronica Sawyer."

  Yes, I'm auditioning for Heathers. Auditioning for Veronica Sawyer. I know it might be a tricky role to land, considering everyone there was either auditioning for JD or Veronica, but this could be my major stepping stone to Broadway. Besides, the role is in my voice range, my casting type, and I look very similar to her. I think, well, not so much think we hope, that I get this part.
