♕ Chapter 25
Is he worthy of the throne?
Seth read the headline calmly and he knew immediately that it wasn't a good a news for him. But that was just the headline, the pictures below it was even worst. "Do you realize how immature is your action, Seth? Now, the people are doubting you! I can't believe that you would do this to us," Queen Carla raved at him. He ignored her words and stared at the pictures.
The only thing that he could think of was Rose. He couldn't imagine how she'll react and how disappointed will she be. "Do you hear me? Seth, I'm talking to you!" Carla lost her patience as her son didn't say anything. Seth closed his eyes and closed the newspaper. "I heard you, Mother," he said.
"Is that all you could say?" she said, raising her tone and her eyes widened. "Yes," Seth replied in a calm tone and he gave the newspaper back to her. Queen Carla looked down and her eyes started to fill in with water. "Why'd you do this? I'm very disappointed of you. What am I suppose to explain to your father?" she cried.
"Just say that it's really me," he said. "Then what? Your father will get a heart attack and you'll be happy? Seth, you think this is not serious? A picture of you kissing another girl is all over the news! The whole world is talking about it!" Queen Carla said and threw the newspaper away. Every piece of it scattered on the floor.
"I have nothing to say," Seth looked into his mother's eyes. "I'm sorry, Mother," he said truthfully. Carla sighed and put her hand to her chest, trying to calm down. "How are you going to tell Princess Rose about this?" she asked. Seth didn't say anything as he was thinking the same thing too. He realized that she would find out about it soon enough. Their relationship was just getting better but then this thing happened. Seth regretted everything deeply.
"I'll tell her myself," Seth made a decision. "This is my problem so I will settle it," he squeezed his forehead. "You know who did this?" he asked. Carla didn't know whether she should tell him or not. She had suspected Princess Christina did this as she knew she was trying to get Alex the throne. "I'm not sure," Carla said. "You know this girl in the picture? Who is it?"
"A friend," Seth replied shortly. He thought it's better if Carla didn't know who Jessica was to him or things would get worse. Carla sighed and she actually knew that Seth wouldn't tell her who is the girl. His son never did tell her anything about his life. "I'm going to see your father. Wait for us in the common room. You have a lot to explain, Prince," she warned before she stormed out of his bedroom.
As Queen Carla shut the door close, Seth slammed himself onto the bed and his head was spinning around. He couldn't believe how stupid he was at that time. If only he didn't walk with Jessica that day, all this wouldn't happen. The newspaper was still scattered on the floor and he didn't even bother to pick it up. His mind had stopped working as Seth was trying hard to think of something.
His fist clenched as soon as he remembered about Jessica. It must be her who did this. He never thought that she would send the pictures to the press. His bedroom door was opened and Rose crept into his bedroom.
"Are you okay? Is your mother angry at me? Oh my god, if I knew that she's coming, I won't even bother to come here. I'm sorry," she rambled and took a seat beside him. Seth shook his head. "No, it's not about that. She came to talk to me about something else," he said in a low tone.
Rose looked down and sighed before she realized that a newspaper scattered on the floor. "What happen? She threw the news?" she asked and moved herself down to the floor. She started to collect all the papers. "Don't," Seth stopped her from tidying his bedroom as he was afraid that she might find the article. He crouched next to her. "The maid will clean up this mess," he said. Seth was not ready to lose her yet.
"Never mind. This is easy," she smiled and continued to collect the papers. As she was collecting them, her eyes suddenly stopped on the front page of the newspaper. She read it and was shocked to see the pictures below the headline - two pictures of Seth and Jessica kissing and one picture of them holding hands in front the Eifel Tower. Her heart stopped beating.
"Rose," Seth said as he realized that Rose saw the pictures. "I'm really really sorry," he said honestly. Rose looked up to him and her eyes started to fill in with the tears. "You were in Paris with her that night?" she asked calmly. Seth closed his eyes and looked down. He didn't have the heart to lie to her.
"I did,"
Rose nodded and refrained herself from crying. "You did this to hurt me like I did to you?" she calmed herself. Seth shook his head repeatedly and caught her eyes. "I would never hurt you, Rose, I swear. It's just that... I didn't know what I was doing. I was so lost and Jessica showed up. I thought I could stop thinking about you if I spend some time with her..." he explained.
"Did you succeed?"
"No," Seth said, almost inaudible and his eyes downcast. "I will never stop thinking about you. You were always there inside me. That's why I went back to Andorra. I finally realized that I need you more than anything, Rose. I really do,"
Rose didn't say anything for a second as she was thinking hard. She wanted to hate him but she just couldn't. She could sense that he was talking the truth and she'd never heard anything more genuine than that. "I trust you," she said and a tear dropped from her eye. "I know you won't do that to me,"
Seth turned his eyes to her and he was surprised by her answer. He thought that he would lose her forever and she wouldn't forgive him. "You do?" he asked. Rose nodded and wiped her tears. "I do," she assured and smiled. She leaned closer to him and hugged him tightly. "I will always do, Seth," she whispered.
Seth immersed his face in her neck. "Thanks," he said and Rose smiled. She pulled away from him and smiled. "And I think about you all the time to," she let out. "You and your angry monkey behavior,"
Seth cupped her face and wiped a tear off her face. "I'll be your romantic monkey forever," he joked and made her laugh. He kissed her forehead and pulled her into his embrace. "And you'll be my simpleton forever," he whispered.
Roseline Humprey is the best thing that ever happened to Seth Larston.

Everyone in Maximillian Art School was talking about the royal scandal between Crown Prince Seth Larston and Jessica Harper. Jessica walked into the school building and all eyes were staring at her. She knew this would happen after the news were out. She ignored all the stares and made her way to her class.
"Hey guys," she greeted Alan and Luke in their class. Luke gave her a weak smile but Alan ignored her. "What's up?" she asked, like nothing happened. Alan wrapped his arms to his chest. "Someone is trying to destroy Seth's marriage," he sneered and looked away to the window.
"What do you mean?" Jessica asked, looking sharply at her best friends. Luke and Alan looked away, ignoring her. She put her hands on her waist. "You think I sent the pictures to the news?" she said and couldn't believe that her best friends was doubting her. "Don't you?"
"If it wasn't you, then who did?" Alan ranted and turned his eyes to her. "Jessica, we know you. You wouldn't stop until you get what you want,"
Jessica faked a chuckle. "Okay. Maybe I am but I wouldn't do that Seth. And I wouldn't sell my own dignity! The whole school is saying things about me, Alan! They're calling me a B!tch!"
"Alan, Jessy, please. I don't want you guys to fight in front of me," Luke tried to stop them from fighting. "Let's just wait for Seth, okay?"
"I'm going," Jessica said, narrowing her eyes at Alan. "I can't sit here with a fake friend, " she said before she stormed away from there. Alan frowned and pretended like he wanted to punch her. When Jessy was gone, Luke tapped his lap. "Why'd you said that to her?" he asked.
"What?" Alan said, throwing his hands up in the air. "Luke, she's different now. All she thinks about is Seth and how to destroy his marriage. She's crazy!"
"Yeah. But she's our friend," Luke disagreed. "It's Seth's fault for ditching her. Everyone would have done the same thing if they're at her place,"
"Whatever,"

"I hate her so much right now, Rose!!!" Cassidy clenched her fists and shouted, "How dare she kissed your husband!!"
Rose sighed and rested her head in the palm of her hand. She didn't have any mood to join Cassidy and Lily's rant. "Cass's right! What are you going to do, Rose? What did Seth say about this?" Lily asked. Rose shook her head. "I'll do nothing," she said.
Lily slapped her shoulder. "What? Are you crazy? That slut is kissing your husband! Wake up, Rose Humprey!" she shouted. Cassidy nodded excitedly. "If I were you, I would have kills that b!tch right away!" she added and punched the air.
"Guys, please," Rose begged and closed her ears. "Stop ranting. I'm okay and Seth explained everything to me. I trust him,"
"But you can't just sit and do nothing!" Lily stomped the table. The whole class stared at her but she didn't care. "Rose Humprey! Where's your spirit?"
She ignored her and suddenly, their classroom door was opened. Jessica walked into the class and turned her eyes to Rose. "I need to talk to you," she said in a serious tone. Rose hesitated but then she nodded. She stood up to her feet and motioned towards her.
"Alone," Jessica sneered as Lily and Cassidy was following her from behind. Rose turned herself to face them. "I'll be fine," she assured and Jessica walked out of the classroom. She followed at once.
A few minutes later, Alex came into the class and motioned towards Lily and Cassidy who was wearing a worried expression. "Morning," he said and placed his backpack on the table. Lily and Cassidy narrowed their eyes at him. "What?" Alex asked, puzzled.
"Its Rose. She went with Jessica," Cassidy told him. Alex's eyes widened and he frowned. "What? To where? Why?" he asked multiple questions. "Jessica wants to talk to her. Alone. I'm worried, Alex," Lily said and bit her lips. "I hope she won't do anything to her,"
Alex hurried out from the class. "Where are you going? Alex!" Lily called for him. She looked at Lily. "Let's go with him," she suggested. Cassidy nodded and they rushed to chase him.
~~
"I think you already know why I want to talk to you," Jessica said, glaring at her. They were sitting in the school garden. "It's about Seth and me,"
Rose's heart was on fire when she said that. "He told me what happened and I trust him," she said calmly. Jessica chuckled. "Let me guess. He told you that he didn't kiss me back and the kiss wasn't on purpose? And I was the one who forced him?" she sneered. Rose didn't say a thing.
"Gosh, I thought you were a lot cleverer than that, Rose. Even though you're just the sandwich-makers daughter," she laughed. "Let me tell you what happen from my point of view. Seth called me on that night and we promised to meet in Paris. He said that he needed someone to be with him. And like always I would always there for him. We shared a kiss and it was a genuine one,"
Tears started to fall from her eyes. "No, you're lying. Seth wouldn't never do that to me," Rose said firmly. Jessica smiled. "Then why're you crying?" she sneered and sighed. "Rose, don't tell me that you think Seth is in love with you?" she laughed. "What? Seriously?" she added when Rose was silent.
"Seth would never love someone like you. He hates you, Rose. You're ugly, poor, stupid and is just his arranged partner," Jessica said, sarcasms hitting every word. "Why would someone as perfect as he likes you? He deserves someone like me,"
Jessica circled around Rose. "I'm rich, popular, beautiful, hot, clever and I have everything that I could give to him," she bragged. "You're just the sandwiches-makers daughter and you own nothing. You were just one lucky girl,"
"Listen here, friend," Rose pointed a finger at her face. "You can say bad things about me but don't ever bring my family into it. Maybe I'm poor, stupid and ugly but at least I have a heart. I won't destroy someone's marriage especially if I love that person. If I were you, I'll let him go because I want him to be happy,"
"Then give back Seth to me!"
"I will," Rose said. "If he's happy with you, I'll be glad to let him go because I just want him to be happy. I love Seth enough to let him go for his happiness, Jessica,"
"You don't have to," a voice showed up from behind them. Jessica and Rose turned themselves to face the owner of the voice. "Because I'm happy with you," Seth continued and motioned towards them. Jessica startled and she was already crying. She couldn't deny everything Rose said is true but it was hard for her to accept it.
Seth wrapped his arm around Rose. "Jessica, I told you I'm sorry. I know everything that happened is crazy but that's life. Sometimes, you just have to learn to accept it. You're beautiful and you have everything, Jessy. You will find someone who loves you the way you are,"
"I don't want anybody else!" Jessica cried. "I only want you, Seth. You can't do this to me. I love you so much,"
"And I love Rose more than anything," Seth said. Rose who was surprise looked up to him. She blinked her eyes and hoped that she wasn't dreaming. "You're my first love but Rose's the last. She gives me happiness the way you didn't," he continued.
"I'll change. I won't betray our love again," Jessica vowed. "I need you in my life. Please don't do this to me. I'll do anything. Just say the word,"
By the time, Alex, Luke, Alan, Lily and Cassidy arrived at the scene. They have managed to find them after circling everywhere in search for them.
"No, it's too late," he said. "What happened between you and Luke was actually unforgivable," he flickered his eyes to Luke who was looking down. "You two have secret relationships behind my back since two years ago! Yes, I knew about it but because you guys were my best friend, I forgive you and pretend like I know nothing, Jessy," he ranted.
"Seth..." Luke started. Seth raised a hand at him "Don't, Luke. I told you I've forgotten about it. And it's not even important now," he stopped him. Jessica sobbed and cried even harder. "That's because you never care about my feelings! You were always busy with your work! You didn't even text me or bother to call!"
"That's why I need someone like Rose," Seth gazed at Rose and tighten his grip on her shoulder. "She understands me more than myself do," he said in awe. Rose's eyes met his and she could feel his love for her.
"Don't say that!" Jessica screamed and ran a hand through her hair. "I don't care if you love her. I just want us back,"
"Come on, Mrs Larston," Seth said to Rose. "Let's go home," he gestured Rose away from there. Rose was proud to be called Mrs Larston. A name that she would love to wear for the rest of her life.
"You can't do this to me!" Jessica shouted and tried to chase them. But Luke held her. "Relax, Jessy," he said, trying to calm her
"Wohoo, do I need to call the mental hospital for you, Jess?" Alan faked a smile. "Or should I call my Grandma's psychologist?" he sneered and Lily and Cassidy laughed. "You should, Alan. She needs one," Lily joked and Cassidy stuck out a tongue. Jessica frowned and gave them a terrifying glare before she rushed away from there.

"This is a serious matter, Seth!" King Edward said angrily. As soon as Seth and Rose got back to the castle, they were called to meet the king in the common room. "You are the Crown Prince. The people's hope and their future ruler. How are they going to trust you after seeing this?"
Rose looked down and she didn't dare to say anything. She never saw her father-in-law this angry. "I know I was wrong, father. And I can promise you that things like this won't happen again," Seth assured and still, in a calm tone. Rose wondered how he could keep himself calm even though he was having a hard time.
"Sorry is not enough, Seth," King Edward shook his head. "If sorry could solve every problem then what are the use of cops and laws?"
Seth sighed. "I'll think of something. You don't need to worry about this," he said. King Edward pulled a deep breath. "How am I going to explain to your grandmother? She already knew about this,"
"I'll explain to her," Seth offered as he knew this was all his fault. King Edward shook his head. "No, it'll make things worse. I want you to think how to solve this problem and make the people to trust you again," he said. Seth stood up to his feet and Rose followed him at once. "I will, father," he said and bowed down.
"Rose, can I talk to you for a second?" King Edward turned his eyes to her. Rose startled before she agreed, "Of course, Sire," she said and her hands trembled. "Wait for her outside, Seth," he instructed Seth to leave them both alone. Seth hesitated but then followed his father's order.
"Sit," King Edward said and he sat on the sofa. Rose nodded and sat on the sofa opposite to him. He cleared his throat. "So, I see you're taking this matter calmly, princess. I was slightly impressed on how you adapt yourself to this situation," he said. Rose smiled as she didn't know what to say.
"Although, as a wife, I'm sure you'll be disappointed with Seth. Even though he's just your arranged husband, don't you?" he asked and brought his hands together. Rose gave him another smile. "I was at first. But then he explained everything that happened," she said.
"And you trust him?"
Rose nodded. "Yes. I trust him with my life," she said honestly. "Seth wouldn't do such thing. This may sound ridiculous but I just know he wouldn't. I hope that everyone would believe him too because Seth needs everyone's support,"
King Edward smiled was touched by her wisdom words. "Never knew that you're a wise person, Rose. I thought women would be crazy if they knew their husband cheated on them. Surprise that you didn't," he said in awe and he was proud of her.
"Trust is the most important thing, your Highness," she said. King Edward chuckled and nodded. "Yes, you are right and one more thing, call my father. You haven't called me the right name yet since you've become my daughter," he said kindly.
"Yes... Father,"
~~
"You told me this would work! And guess what happened just now, Seth dumped me! He dumped me, Christina!" Jessica slammed her handbag on the desk angrily. Christina looked up to her. They were in their office and Christina was sitting on the chair. "Tell me what happened first, can you? And sit," she raised an eyebrow and waited for her to speak.
Jessica sighed and sat herself on the chair opposite to her. She started to tell her everything that happened between Seth, Rose and her. "He said we're over and the most disgusting thing was, he said he loves her!" she ranted and clenched her fist.
Christina laughed and shook her head. "You're funny, Jessy. This is actually working very well. Seth wouldn't have a choice but to divorce her to settle everything. If he didn't, things will get worse. I'm sure everyone in the castle is persuading him to divorce her now," she said.
"Why're you so sure?"
She chuckled. "I know my sister-in-law too well, Jessy. She will do anything to make sure that her son becomes a king. Seth wouldn't have a choice,"
"I don't think he would do that," Jessica disagreed and recalled the way Seth stated his love for Rose. "He seemed so sure just now,"
"Trust me, darling. You'll get Seth in no time," Christina coaxed her. "Plus, Alex told me that Seth will be divorcing Rose even before this happened. He said that he wanted her to be free," she said sarcastically.
"Seriously?" Jessica's eyes widened excitedly. Christina nodded. "Have I ever lied to you? All we need to do is wait and everything will be ours," she smirked. Jessica smiled evilly and she was satisfied with her answer.
