10. Bear Hugs Are The Best

Alice's POV

Luke and I were heading back home. The two of us had visited Stella and taken all our classes. He had insisted on taking me home, and I agreed, still being exhausted from all the crying I had done earlier. I was so tired that I didn't even feel like surfing.

As Luke pulled up in front of my driveway, I turned towards the door, about to get out. But I felt a hand softly grab my wrist. I looked back, seeing Luke holding my hand. I could see the conflict in his eyes as he opened and closed his mouth, about to tell me something. Confusion spread through me. Finally, he sighed, his eyes showing that he had reached a decision.

"I... I was wondering if you could come with me to my parents house. I haven't seen them in two years, and I don't think I'll be able to face them alone.", he said, his eyes scanning my face.

My eyebrows furrowed. He hadn't seen his parents for two entire years? Well, adoptive parents. I was so confused. Why wouldn't he meet them.

"Please?", he whispered.

I bit my lip, not knowing if I should agree or decline. My brain was asking me to go straight to bed and sleep for the rest of the day without a care in the world. But unfortunately, my stupidly soft heart made me nod my head with a sigh. Luke's face brightened, and he quickly flashed a smile towards me.

After a few minutes of uncomfortable silence, we were in front of the huge, Ancient Greek style mansion. Luke's family was of Greek descent, and all of them were keen on showcasing their Greek culture. Since Luke and Stella were adopted, they weren't Greek like the rest of their family. But they still loved the culture.

Luke got out of the car and I followed his lead, watching him as he took a deep breath in. He seemed extremely nervous, which I found a little weird. Not because that wasn't the normal emotion to feel at such an occasion, but because Luke was the ultimate daredevil. He never backed down from a dare and did the most dangerous thing without a care in the world. I had never seen him this nervous before in my life.

He started to walk towards the gates, making me walk behind him. I could feel the nervousness radiating off him. I mean, it was justified. The poor guy was about to meet his parents after two years. He rang the bell and immediately, the guard spoke through the intercom.

"Who is this? If it's the kid who threw the baseball bat into the garden because of his horrible aim again, you can scoot your butt away, kid. My head almost exploded because of you last time. Don't you think fifteen accidents are enough?", he grumbled.

I had to bite my lip hard to stop myself from bursting out laughing. I could see Luke also smiling.

"It's me. Luke. What the f*ck happened to you, bro?", he said, smiling at me.

I could hear an audible gasp on the other side. Luke's guard, Ryder, was in his twenties, and one of the most hilarious and strong people that I had ever met. Hence, Luke had always gotten along with him extremely well. In fact, they were more like brothers.

Two seconds later, I heard the click of the electronic lock as the door opened. A blonde, buff and scary looking dude came running out. He was in a pair of bright orange, fluorescent beach shorts and a grey hoodie. He was definitely a hottie.

Before I could blink, he had launched himself on Luke and was holding him in a tight bear hug. Luke was hugging him back and patting -or more like slapping- his back. A minute of me awkwardly watching the reunion later, Ryder moved back, smiling at Luke.

"It's been ages, bro! How the f*ck can you and Stella just leave me and your parents like that? All of us missed the two of you so much!", he gushed. But soon, his eyebrows furrowed. "Uh... what happened to Stella? Is she not here?"

Luke's bright expression faded away, and he said, "I'll explain later. Are Mom and Dad here?"

He nodded frantically, opening the door wider. Suddenly, he saw me, and his eyes widened. Before I knew it, I was also attacked in a bear hug. I could feel the breath getting knocked right out of me, but I smiled, hugging him back.

"Lissy! It's been so long since I've seen your gorgeous a*s! Where have you been?", he beamed, moving back and staring at me.

Ryder was the type of person that flirted with literally every girl. He wasn't a player, but he liked to turn the flirting into a joke. Being super attached to our friend group, he had always been a flirtatious friend to Stella, Reyna and I.

"I'm awesome! I've just been busy with a lot of things. I took up a job at the beach shop, so I didn't really get a lot of free time.", I said, smiling at him.

I didn't fail to notice that he wasn't surprised that Luke was alive. That must have meant that Luke had informed his parents and Ryder of why he had to go away for before the entire situation.

I didn't dwell on my thoughts too much, staring at the huge driveway as we drove towards the beautiful mansion. Soon, we were right in front of the main door. It wasn't that large, the Daniels' staying true to their Greek descent. But it definitely fitted in with the rest of the exterior. I sighed. It had been so long since I had come to the Daniels' place.

I could feel Luke taking my hand and squeezing it, probably to comfort himself. I was aware of his situation, so I didn't say anything. Finally, the doors were opened. I caught a whiff of some heavenly smelling roses as soon as the door opened. As we stepped inside the place, I could feel Luke's nervousness radiating off him.

And once I saw the parents of Luke Daniels standing two meters away from us, all hell broke loose.

DONEEEE! I've been super busy, so I didn't update yesterday. Actually, I feel like I might not be able to update everyday for quite a while. But I'll try to write more whenever I can! Anyway, did you like the chapter? Make sure to comment, vote and share! Love you all! Peace out!
